To anyone attached to a Turkey dinner on Thanksgiving, I’d suggest getting one now. There’ll be a shortage, and it may be the most expensive bird you’ve ever bought.

I absolutely expect that. I just ordered a lot of meat from the butcher I go to and almost fell on the floor when I saw how much it cost. It was about $35 more than my last order (about 3 months ago) and I ordered close to the same thing. He told me the price of meat is up, especially any beef. I can just imagine what a turkey will cost this year.

I went to my local Walmart today. They were out of a lot of things. They had very few printer cartridges, soap. No powder and less choice of vitamins. Not many paper plates. No coffee filters. They had plenty of TP and paper towels though. Overall, less choices on all products and a high price tag. The price on every single item is a lot higher.

I had my oil tank filled at the end of summer. It cost $40 more than last year. I hope we have a warm winter.

Lots and lots of gaps—some of them BIG gaps—in the Dollar General shelves this week. My client couldn’t find his favorite floor cleaner, so he had to settle for a different brand.

I looked in three locations for the extra-large size of puppy pads (any size smaller likely won’t be big enough for a bedridden person) that the Patriot Nurse recommended in her video on how to stock supplies for a sick/isolation room using Dollar Tree finds. None to be found! One location had a plenty of smaller pads, one had a few, one had NONE.

Tonight I went to Dollar Tree (Plus) and nearly all the toothbrushes were gone! I grabbed a 4-pack even though I hadn’t planned to buy anything, just check out the shelves and see how things are looking. If toothbrushes become scarce I’ll be okay for awhile.

Most of the store looked fairly well-stocked, but a lot of sections were cluttered, dirty or picked over. The frozen section was about a third full.

Canned cat food.  And sometimes they have cat litter and sometimes not.  If I see it, I buy.

Our stores are just now slowly putting out holiday items, BUT, display cases and shelves now have stickers showing limits as to how many items can be purchased.

What has me concerned, our local food banks are next to empty and some are having to turn people away.

Dollar Tree is raising their prices. I heard about it so asked the gal when I was there today. She said they were raised to $1.25 in a community about 20 miles away, that's more affluent. She said their prices would also go up but she hoped it would not be until the end of the year.

Fuel prices have come down, slightly.  Most things are in stock but it's kind of hard to tell what's up because two grocery stores here are being totally remodeled. There are new accommodations for curbside pick up in one. There is a huge screen with an eye on the parking lot so they know when someone pulls up.

Best not pick you nose out there, or anything else. All people in the checkout lane will be watching you!
