@elsa I don’t know if the picture is accurate, but an update from the seller of my greenhouse kit that I ordered in April, stated that the shipment arrived on the east coast, but the lines were so long at the port that it would be another 10 days until the stuff actually gets unloaded off the cargo ship. They also stated that delays are even greater on the west coast.

@elsa They also recommended to be proactive with holiday ordering because stock is dwindling and prices are increasing in all sectors. I ordered my kit from an independent company, so the update reflects their experience with obtaining parts and materials.

It's been the same in construction. Appliances. Tile. Windows. Things are either out of stock, extremely delayed, or more expensive.

My husband's best friend is a long haul trucker. He's been on the road for about 12 months now and intends to keep going for another 6. That's been his plan since he left, but I think it helps that the money has been better than ever for him.

@elsa I saw that on SM and wondered about it. I also see stuff like this which goes along with the manufactured aspect. Add all the talk about a "dark winter" and it makes you wonder. These days, "conspiracy theories" are more like spoiler alerts.

I’ve heard rumors of a paper shortage.

Basically, what you see on the shelves, was ordered months ago. Whether there’s anything coming in after that is anyone’s guess.

That’s problematic. Think of all the everyday items you use that require paper.

Another thing: Walmart is getting rid of their plastic bags. Don’t get me started on what happened when I shopped for a client last weekend. 🥴 What a hot mess. So anyway, they’re wanting to become a zero-waste company. That would involve reusable bags….oh wait! ☝️ At the beginning of the pandemic, weren’t stores banning those due to them becoming a source of disease spread? Paper bags still go in the trash and they attract critters like silverfish and roaches. 🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

@notmycircus I hear we'll have no cans!

Jeez Louise. I do think it's going to get quite bad. But most who have the will, will be able to get through it.

@elsa Okay, umm, that could be bad for my Saturday client who needs her ginger ale. It settles her stomach and she only drinks Schweppes. I’m lucky to find that brand anywhere—it’s disappearing. But I think she’ll be fine as long as I get the 2-liter bottles and pour it into smaller bottles so she finishes it before it goes flat.

That's interesting. I don't think a lot of people see this coming. They're too busy hating on their neighbor; the same person they are going to need to go to for help!

@elsa Yep! We all need to be preparing to help each other out, but instead we’re being ginned up against each other. This scares me.

@notmycircus just do the opposite. There are legions of us, seriously. Our strength and numbers are concealed by the media.

@elsa

Here’s a song that came to mind today. “Heartbeat” by Beckah Shae. It’s a Christian song, but it talks about coming together.

My husband says they are making components that were due several months ago. Also, aluminum in hard to come by and one of their main customers is planning to buy from Mexico.

I just ordered a jar attachment set for my FoodSaver. They had been in and out of stock so I got one before they disappear again.

The set was nearly $30. Awhile back it was under $10! (that’s what someone on Facebook said—they could not believe the jump in price)
