Not My Circus, if you add a little glycerin to the sanitizer and shake before use it won’t be so drying.

For some reason my brain inserted *Nitro* in front of *glycerin*. Momentarily I wondered if you worked for the mob. Thankfully I reread and comprehended what was actually written. *whew*.

Haha, nooooo I don’t work for them!

Glycerin is actually what soap manufacturers take out of bar soap–and put in lotion to sell. (Yeah, they’re ripping us off! Soap strips your skin of moisture and lotion puts it back in. So you have to buy two products instead of one.)

Produce.

I was just notified that the bell peppers I ordered are not available. (I also had to switch to a bigger bottle of vanilla.)

Every single order I have made in the last month has substutions and eliminations in it. EVERY. SINGLE. ONE.

Get used to it, I tell myself.

I just tell myself that the unexpected shortages are forcing me to be a creative cook. Gotta find some kind of silver lining, however small.

True. My mom has been stretching her meat as far as she can manage, by making pizzas, casseroles, stews and only using part of the amount called for the recipe. She also looks for what she has on hand to cobble meals together. This is a skill she’s used in planning meals a month ahead. It’s also a great budget-stretcher.

I’m learning some interesting things myself lately. If I forget to order an ingredient or can’t get one, my Gemini housemate usually has it! I couldn’t get flour one week. She has a huge bag in the freezer not being used. I got an 8-ounce thing of imitation vanilla because Kroger didn’t have the 4 ounce. She has a big-ass bottle of REAL vanilla from Mexico! (Back when it was safe to travel, she learned you can get it dirt cheap if you travel there.)

Every time I shop, I find the cereal aisle sparse. Weird  And, never any oatmeal.

Speaking of horders…. anyone remember the Internet story about the two brothers that went around and bought-up all the self-cleaning things? Think they were in Tennessee.

Me…. it’s been rough trying to find hand wipes. For me it’s the Clorox ones that comes in the round 9″ high container. One normally lasts me almost a year. They’re great for substituting for a bath if something needs me to go help someone. But they’re useless for washing your hair.

Anyway all I see is the small packages in Wallmart useful for cleaning babies. Sorry, not exactly what I want, even if they’re nearly the same thing.

Toilet paper and paper towels…. still a rare beast in Wallmart these days. Makes me want to grab the *several years old* toilet paper (big doughnut-shape) my Legion post has in the storage room…. and go sell it. It may be almost a decade old, but it’s toilet paper…. and that stuff does not have an expiration date. Maybe after the bugs get into it.

I do. I was actually happy that they went to sell it online…and were DENIED!! *spoken in Suze Orman voice*

For weeks Lysol or Clorox wipes and sprays have been as hard to find as unicorns. Rubbing alcohol, too. It’s scary working in home care, and not being able to get needed disinfecting items for you or your clients. I actually had to make Lysol wipes by hand recently for a client. They had some Lysol cleaner refill and paper towels. We had decided to rinse and set aside Lysol wipe dispensers, just in case. So I grabbed one of the empties, put some diluted Lysol in it, and spent about a half hour folding individual paper towels into squares, pushing the stack down to absorb the cleaner. It’s been working so far–but I’ve never had to do that before!

I haven’t seen Clorox wipes in 2 months.  I was lucky to have one container I had bought previous to the pandemic that I use very sparingly.  Glenn, I remember the brothers from TN who thought they were going to make a killing selling cleaning stuff.   They were forced to give it to charity.  Two greedy fools.  This pandemic has brought out the best and worst in people.

My husband finally got a bottle of rubbing alcohol and I got one bottle of hand sanitizer.  It was pure timing as they were just opening the box to put them on the shelf.

I am truly sick of the hoarders in our society.  They are causing all the shortages.  Today I went to my local supermarket and there are signs up telling people to just take what they need and leave the rest for someone else.  How sad that a sign like that even needs to posted.

Sauerkraut disappeared from our shelves early on and we never got any back in since then. It was never a big seller but now we get asked for it DAILY.

I just googled and found out why:
