Hey Redbird,

Thanks for opening up.

What do you hope to get out of astrology apart from being an active part in this community? Predicting tides/times of changes, self-discovery and self-empowerment/improvement, business/career advancement, love and a more loving life...

As someone with some relevant Gemini in my chart I'd also recommend reading some books:

1) some of the greatest and easier-to-read astrology foundation books (anything from Stephen Arroyo, Howard Sasportas, Richard Idemon, Tracy Marks, April Kent Elliot, Alan Leo, Dane Rudhyar, Basil Fearrington...);

2) good books on aspects (Sue Tompkins, Karen Hamaker-Zondag; James Braha...) ;

3) and then particularly books that go into deep into the natal planet or planets with the biggest tensions in the chart or the natal planet/s part of a t-square or a grand cross (a grand trine even) as learning about this planet/s will be of enormous help. The latter would be books on Neptune, Pluto, Saturn...or books on T-Squares (Tracy Marks has a good one.)

Good luck!

Thanks. Years ago I catalogued my paperback astro library. It was hard.

I need to do it again as I have so many titles that are not included. Got a few on Kindle too yet if I had the budget (I don't) I'd buy the paperback versions too.

A Christmas job, the cataloguing!

Thanks so much. I’m not a patient person. I would like to begin by understanding me. Mood swings, depression, being super sensitive, etc. with several consultations from Elsa & Midara - I’m beginning to feel I understand maybe the basics.
My husband is the most upbeat - happy- optimist- fire of energy. I’m the opposite,

I’m always sad, searching for the next magic vitamin B supplement that will shake off this heavy I have always felt. It’s just so much work for me to go daily. And he can’t wait to get his day started.

I made lots of notes from reading back many blogs from here from all writers.
So much to absorb.
What and when was your “ah-ha” moment? When it all came together ?

@cris

thank you so much!
self improvement, self empowerment. I have always been fearful and depressed. I would like to embrace these last years with wisdom from my chart to be better equipped to as to how to not be so fearful. Trust more- not be so sensitive. Use my positive aspects - and use them daily. Thanks so much for all the help already - I love this board.

Hi Redbird, if you want to learn Astrology you're in the right place.  It takes a little while to learn it.  The best way to start is to look up the aspects in your chart.  Google them and get different opinions on what the aspects mean.  That is a start.

@redbird, Basics are so important.  I'm not sure of your level of knowledge, but if you are familiar with the basics already, like house meanings, planet meanings, aspect types, etc., you can then start to look at the meaning of aspects and placements in your chart.

I think using your own chart aspects to start makes learning how to read horoscopes more relatable because you know yourself.  Reading other's interpretations of the aspects in your chart gives you a fresh perspective on other ways an aspect in your chart can be interpreted or used.  It gives you new insights into yourself, and that's the important thing.

Google is a great way to look up different aspects in your chart.  All you do is type in something like "Moon in Scorpio square Saturn"  or "Moon in Scorpio square Saturn in 8th house" and you can get all kinds of interpretations.  Some sites are better than others, but you'll get to know what site is valid and what isn't.

Another way to learn to interpret a chart is to choose a chart of a famous figure and look at the aspects in their chart.  Maybe they're a great writer or dancer or beauty.  If you look at several writers, maybe they share the same aspects, for example.

Good luck.  It takes time, but it sinks in after awhile.

I just saw your birthdate. Mine's the day after yours, except there's over a 20 year age difference. I was born in 1989.

Thank You!!! I have recently discovered her blogs - I am so excited and feel so much better. I am journaling her blogs and doing so much self care in the astrology department!
Depression is just a part of my identity and all my 12th house - But I am learning all the positive and good and focusing on that - In spite of my recent last 3 years of everything turning upside down on me. Now- I understand - Capricorn and Saturn- hit me. Hard.....
