garden-now.jpgImage EnlargerCabbage needs to be about 2′ apart. Those are broccoli in the foreground but you can see the cabbage.

Just imagine a giant head of cabbage in the center of each plant. They do need room.

That looks light green cabbage on the right lower corner?  You only have room for one plant there.

Can you dig up the outer ones and pop them in the ground somewhere else?

My kitchen herbs (parsley, marjoram, oregano, rosemary) this weekend. I had to put them back in the sunroom due to our blackberry winter.

Well, our ground is full of voles, that’s why the raised bed. But maybe I’ll see if any neighbors are interested. No way anybody is getting their right amount of room in this bed!

I remember something called French-intensive gardening from the old days, where they intentionally packed everything close, but I think they had a better plan than my random chaos here. oh well, everyone into the stir fry! Well see how cauliflower and cabbage leaves taste. Actually, stir fry with brown rice is about my favorite thing on the planet, so yay!

Sweet basil seedlings (today nearly all the limp ones have since perked up)

The lighter brown stuff in the seedling cups is ground cinnamon. I dusted them with it to keep the roots of the seedlings from damping. (I might have overdone it a bit!)

Sorry I had to do the photos piecemeal. It was a PITA downloading them, one by one, from Google Drive to my computer, then upload one by one to Imgur, then get the link for each and convert it to a useable link. Google Drive won’t let me share directly with the site, and the Imgur app won’t upload my photos straight from my phone (guess it doesn’t like Androids).

Anyway, I took the photos yesterday in the sunroom. The zucchinis are currently in a small built-in plant bed near the pool. They might have to move because zukes like to be in the GROUND. But at least they’ve perked up since I mulched them and let the rain water them.

All of your plants are doing really well, NMC.  You’re a natural!  I haven’t even started planting anything yet.  I have a basil plant on my kitchen windowsill because its too cold outside 🙁  .  I bought some basil from the supermarket for sauce and the plant had roots so I put it in a planter with water and its taken off!.  Its a hydroponically grown plant, so I’m not sure how it will react when I plant it in dirt.  We’ll see.

I can’t wait until this cold snap goes away.

I used to use the Paint program in Windows to post pictures from my PC.  I’m not sure how it works now, but it doesn’t have the options it used to have.

Thank you! ☺

I did have a green onion that failed, but I basically pulled it out of a yard (that wasn’t chemically treated), chopped most of the green off, and let it sit for a few days wrapped in a damp towel. Then I put it in dirt. It was an experiment so I’m not too upset about it.

This blackberry winter does throw a monkeywrench in things. Had to bring my container plants inside.

Wow..I can’t believe how good your produce is growing/looking. It’s like you’re a natural (maybe that taurus moon). If you keep this up, one day you won’t need to shop 🙂
