I had a client remark on someone's avatar. She said it was her favorite of all time. She's been around the forum since it's inception.

The client and I are both curious people. We wonder how you chose your avatar; what it means or signifies.  We also wonder how you chose your user id.  I'll go first.

I replaced my old picture because I don't look like it anymore but I did not have a replacement at the time.  I like the picture but it's also a throwback to when I first started astrology online... this was in 2000. I was named "VeryModern" and I practiced "Space Junk Astrology".

I was named VeryModern because of this pin:

It was given to me by my sister circa 1990. It was from Benetton. She said she never saw anything describe me better.

Space Junk had to do with Star Wars. I am not a fan, necessarily, but I was a Toy Archeologist and it was a reference to this character, Watto, who bought and sold space junk.

watto

The character spoke with a sort of NY Italian accent. So,,,

If you look at the avatar, it's a very modern gal with space junk. Smile

Your turn!

Mine is the Temperance card from True Black tarot. My fave avatar is Soups ostrich. 😂
La sirena means the mermaid in Italian. Pisces Sun/Moon.

Sorry, I realized later on it’s not an ostrich. But the bird is hilarious, whatever it is! And also fitting haha

@la_sirena @soup avatar was also the favorite of the client, if you can believe that. She also called it an ostrich. I thought it was a little water animal with it's head sticking up (from memory, during the call).  So you and she were far less wrong than I was! Smile

jana is my name. Rhymes with banana, not the scandanavian or is it German jahna. My avatar happened two summers ago while I was working from home. They switched me into an online kindergarten teaching because the library was closed and I was taping lots of lessons with books all over the floor. My dog Ruby came up and laid down in front of one and I thought it was funny. But it's more than that. It's a symbol and a reminder. It reminds me of living in my head vs. settling into being. Locking into what I think I know vs. wonder and awe at the specatcle in front of me. But Kafka said it best:

"You don't need to leave your room

Remain sitting at your table and listen

Don't even listen simply wait

Don't even wait. Be quite still and solitary

To be unmasked it has no choice

It will roll in ectasy at your feet"

Smile

edit to add astrology

Capricorn Mercury conj Saturn in Aquarius

Moon/Ascendant in Sagittarius trine Uranus in Virgo

Leo is a colorful sign and always grabs attention, even if the Leo in question isn't necessarily looking for it.

Mine is a piece of art by Ben Tolman. I just think it’s really cool. My name is just kinda something I came up with. I think I actually may have seen somewhere someone with the handle “noir” and it’s just always a word I loved. The two words together kind of explain my chart too-Libra with some darkness.

Mine is the color I most loved to paint with. I used to paint sunsets/twighlight scenes a million years ago.

dolce is the Italian word for sweet. I didn't choose it for that because I'm not really very sweet at all. I liked the entire phrase "dolce far niente" which means the "pleasure of doing nothing" in Italian. It felt too long for a name so I shortened it to dolce. Later on, that movie eat pray love came out and made the phrase famous, which at the time of course bummed me out. I still like the phrase a lot tho!
