"Colonial Pipeline, the largest U.S. gasoline, and diesel pipeline system, halted all operations Friday after a cyberattack.

Colonial’s pipeline transports 2.5 million barrels each day, taking refined gasoline, diesel fuel and jet fuel from the Gulf Coast up to New York Harbor and New York’s major airports."

Has anyone heard of this?  Are they back online or is the disruption expected to last..?

This is the first I’ve heard of it.

BTW, Jupiter and Venus are currently squaring each other in fixed signs at 29 degrees. Not sure if that figures into it or not.

@notmycircus new broke last night. I see it picked up on MSM this afternoon but no further info, yet.
They may not want to start a panic?  But I have seen no further info.

Edit to add, apparently if they can't get back online, New York prices would go up. Gulf coast prices would go down.

"...Andy Lipow, president of Texas-based Lipow Oil Associates, said an outage that last one to two days would cause some minor inconveniences and that more widespread impact would occur after four to five days of shutdown.

There could be potential sporadic outages as well if a specific terminal was relying on a delivery today or tomorrow and that is now delayed, Lipow said.

“Unlike the February freeze or hurricane, refineries are still in operation turning crude into gasoline, jet and diesel. They just can’t get it to the terminals,” Lipow said. “An extended colonial pipeline outage will force refiners to reduce their operating rates as inventory in the refinery fills up.”

“While they may not be able to ship it to Colonial, the refineries will certainly be able to continue shipping to the Midwest markets,” Lipow said."

This is a current feature. They're keeping a tight lid on this.  But apparently they are still down.  Day 3.

$2.99 this evening. So that's a 20-cent price jump at the same gas station since this morning, and 49 cents since yesterday.

@notmycircus Not surprised.

Hopefully it will resolve quickly. But my husband said not to sweat it. If there is no fuel, there will be no need to go to work - things will shut down all around us.

@elsa Well, if things do shut down, I hope people learned from all the shortages last year to stock up and be prepared for it to happen again. (Guess that's my cue to check my pantries as well.)

People are being urged not to panic and make a run on gas. Good point--we saw what happened with toilet paper last year. I plan to fill up like I normally do.
