It’s supposed to be very cold here next three nights. Tomorrow the radio says it’s suppose to get into the negative numbers…. that’s the coldest I can remember ever. But then again…. there were a few winters that were pretty darn cold back in the 1970’s / 80’s.

My outdoor cats know they can get under my neighbor’s house to keep warm. Sam, my newly self-declared outdoor cat, has his under my shed. I’ll have to double-check make certain it has no openings on the northern / western sides.

So…. how are my fellow Midwestern peeps in the USA holding out?

Not a Midwestern here, but I remember Michigan winters when I lived there in the late 80’s and early 90’s. BRRRR!  I was a Southerner and not used to blizzards or subzero temps.

Anyway, last night I read that the windchills in the Chicago area may hit new lows. -55?  The actual temps will be in the minus 20’s and and 30’s, I think. Be careful!

Moving house, this week.  A good friend of my Housemate mentioned the cold, and snowfall predictions.  He said, “It’s January!”  smile

I’m in the northern part of Ontario, Canada. We’re in a deeper freeze than even we are accustomed to. Been going on for awhile  now and there are still many days ahead of more of the same. Also more snow than usual.

Good luck with the move, Poppy!

Thank you, Tango.  “It went,” as they say.  One of the more interesting components, the mover who showed up for part two of the move – who had been present for part one – showed up with a small SUV, and then had a Mars squaring Pluto (in the sky, currently) fit, for over an hour.  Most of that in his car, happily for me.  His boss replaced him, later in the day.

Nevermind!  We’re home at last!  I’m grimy, and tired, and looking forward to the long slog of cleaning cupboards & floors (snow, salt, gravel) and putting things where they’ll go.

PS The movers called a break last night, so that I would.  Concerned, because for them, going on for 60 is old.  Which it is, of course.  But I had packed most things into bags – easier to carry two of those than two boxes of similar size, for someone who doesn’t have strong shoulder muscles.

I’m still a little adrenalized, I can see.  Nevemind, just wanted to share my joy.

I’m in NJ and we’re looking at below 0 temps starting tomorrow night with strong winds.  Brr!  I live in a mountainous area, so its always colder here.  I’m not surprised by it, but I sure wouldn’t like -20 or -30 below.  I can’t imagine that.

I did all my errands and shopping today and had lots of company at the food store.  It was packed at 10:30 in the morning.

We have lots of firewood to burn, so we’ll make it into a fun few days where we don’t go out and just eat a lot.  I just got done making banana nut bread and it smells so good!  laugh

Keep warm!  It’s cold where I am.  The temperature is in the single digits, wind chills are in the negative teens. The wind chill advisory has been extended till 5 pm today. The wind caught my SUV while I drove to a medical appointment this morning. It jumped side ways toward the shoulder while on the interstate. Scary. It was only a second of time.

The Kentucky governor made national news for his comments on not having school today due the weather. Even the universities closed today.  Today’s host Al Roker called the governor a “Nitwit”.  The teachers are upset, but the governor called the teachers “thugs” last year.

Even in places where children have warm winter clothes, schools are closed when it turns unusually colder.

I liked the comment from the politician who said he wished there were “better words to describe the governor’s comments, but there aren’t.”

Keep safe, everyone.  animated-smileys-christmas-101_gif

Yup, that’s cold.  I had to look up the formula for converting Fahrenheit degrees to Celsius – it’s been a while since I last used it.

(In Canada, we call that -27 C… same temperature, just a different way for measuring.)  animated-smileys-christmas-101_gif

I kept my kids home today. Nice and toasty.

It’s 5 degrees right now. Yesterday we had crazy snow for 20 minutes. So odd. LOL

I can’t imagine being in Chicago. I hope homeless people got shelter.

Interesting replies!

This morning (Friday) my American Legion post conducted a ceremony (flag and rifle salute) for a veteran. It felt almost like short-sleeve weather compared to the past few days. Most of the guys were happy.

My youngest brother and his wife are suppose to be back here later this year. We’re crossing fingers that they finally decide to stay permanently. I only wish California wasn’t the state of fruits and nuts! I lived there recently…. so I am entitled for that opinion.

Just a quick follow-up.

Been rainy and cold last two days. Today (it’s about 7Am) is going to be cold! Yesterday another *polar vortex* came down and drove the clouds away…. but replaced them with cold strong winds. Half expected my house to go over. Anyway…. it’s suppose to be cold all day, and I think all through the weekend.

This has been an interesting Winter. Not as much snow but more deep cold than usual.
