When your chart-ruler goes retrograde

I pay a little more attention to astrology in real time these days, and as a Sadge rising, I see that this Jupiter retrograde is making me feel like I’m walking through mud and just kinda hate myself.

Any other sadge risings noticing this, or anyone else relate to feeling like someone snuffed out your candlelight as soon as your chart ruler goes retrograde?

On the flip side, this is a great time for shadow work and serious reflecting. I see how retrogrades really force this sort of growth on a person. But I kind of just want to be my normal cheerful self again

I wonder if these things have something to do with the current T square?

@rapunzelsoldierfish I think the self hate feelings are linked to the t square. My sense of it is that there is a releasing happening, personal and collective regarding self hate.. It's been happening for a long while, maybe since Uranus entered Taurus.. became more tangible, then with the nodes, eclipses, and the Mars conjunction, very intensely. I found yesterday very difficult and that was a messaged I received.. that it is collective. The south node is in Scorpio, ruled by Mars. I'm focusing on conscious self care when I'm able. It's quite hard to stay conscious when unprocessed stuff is purging through the body!

Gemini rising here. So yeah, like at least twice a year stop the ride I wanna get off.

I just look at the place in my chart the chaos is happening.

My natal mercury is also part of a t square w/ the moon & pluto. Mercury retrograde is always informative.

@sk8samurai I like your positive mindset on Mercury retrogrades!

I have a Moon Jupiter conjunction in Pisces, when Jupiter is rx I feel less optimistic in general. Its probably a good time for inner work, meditation, etc. I always feel relief when it goes direct after a long spell. It'll be interesting for it to go direct in Pisces, with its friend Neptune again!

@sophiab Less optimistic is a good way to describe it! And abut the chance to do inner work - it definitely seems like the fast track!

look at the house where Jupiter is retro.  with a Sadge rising, 3rd or 4th house sounds about right.  Houses 1 through 6 are considered "i" house.  You work through these issues generally alone.  If the retro is happening in the 4th house, that is a water house, so sluggish feeling sounds about right.  That house is pretty deep, almost like deep roots of an old tree.

Sometimes retros are good for reflecting.  And sometimes you just get forced to go back and clean up a mess or finish a project.

@sun-mar Thank you, this is so informative. Yep, 4th house! But yesterday I kinda snapped back into gear and feeling good again. It could have something to do with reading the comments here, and just the knowledge that this is a productively reflective time, and that's just how it is! A perspective change will often do that for me. Also, a hearty extra dose of vitamins and tea!
