I have been grappling with this little tidbit of astro snippet for a while now, that Mars actions on the Eclipse energy, while Saturn cements it. Theory being that whichever degree and sign the eclipse happened in (if its personally relevant for you by aspecting natal chart, of course), you will see its manifestation once Mars reaches the exact sign and degree. And if you are extraordinarily lucky, if Saturn reaches that sign and degree in your lifetime, then it gets cemented.

I have been going over my life for dates personally relevant for me, and eclipses on relevant direct degrees and signs. Sometimes it seems to work, and others, its just blah? I wonder what your experience might have been.

Here is a helpful list of eclipses from Susan Miller:

https://www.astrologyzone.com/…..pse-dates/

For finding transit of Mars and Saturn, go to astro.com –》Horoscopes –》extended chart selectoon,  click the tab on ephemeris and pick from the drop down ‘Ephemeris for 10 years’.

Can you please do this (really complicated) analysis and share your experiences? I will post mine one by one in the thread below.

No need for complicated analysis – this notion of Mars and Saturn working together on an eclipse is accurate .

Think of an eclipse as an integration of male and female energies – a balance of Aries and Libra – Mars and Venus – The Sun and the Moon.

Male and female  polarities are integrated thru the square and it starts with the individual working his or her Mars into the purposes of Saturn.

This long period coming up with Mars in Aries (along with Chiron and the Black Moon) is an opportunity for transcendence and you just pointed out the way……

Thanks Don, for the thought provoking post. I understood your point. However, you may need to elaborate this for slowtops like me.

If the point is integration of male-female polarities, than where is the aspect of honouring the feminine in working Mars into the purposes of Saturn? Aren’t they both masculine planets?

Also, loved your analogy of integration through square. I have always been told opposition is easier to integrate but visually, that brought me to the center point of the chart and not the resolution! A square makes so much more sense!

Saturn is not masculine – it is Earth.  Capricorn and Cancer are a Feminine / Earth- Water polarity.

Weaving together Mars and Saturn we get the benefit of integrating the square dynamic which is the foundation of our four chart Angles. A feminine Earth- Water opposition works together with the Masculine Aries Libra  / Fire- Air polarity.

Venus is interesting in that it rules one side of a Feminine polarity ( Taurus – Scorpio) and one side of a Masculine polarity – Aries – Libra.

In Tarot  – the Devil card with the two separate genders in chains represents Capricorn. The completion card – The World card – suggests Mature Saturn with the four corner directions indicating integration of the square  – and the four chart angles.

A surprising light bulb moment. I have Mars and Saturn conjunct Natally (8th House) Leo. What resonates for me is how you’ve made a point for me that makes so much sense: the male and female elemental characters do command equal time in a lifetime. Eclipses which are Moon and Sun moments provide a transiting opportunity; Natal Signatures make for a life’s journey … and that has been true for me for these 70+ years.

This is a branching ‘take’ on your original query, Curl, not meant to distract but rather to expand. Thanks for the question and response Don.

Curl,

I saw some delayed action (Mars) and cemented deed or outcome (Saturn) regarding an eclipse in Leo opposite my Venus in Aquarius, like a month or two of delay. With fixed signs there can be delays I’ve read.

It didn’t work for many other eclipses activating a planet or angle however I’m not done yet looking at this and it does take some work like you say.

Recently the Sag eclipse opposed my Gemini Moon and conjuncted (don’t think the verb exists but I use it) my Neptune in Sag…it has illuminated things massively for me and lots of veils have fallen abruptly.

Mars will be in Gemini next spring (beginning) and Saturn will be in Gemini 10+ years from now.

It’ll be a while till Saturn is in Sag. Next year for Mars in Sag…

What sign does one focus on during a lunar eclipse for the Mars and Saturn tracking?

Thank you for sharing your experience CrisLondon.

Adding my latest experiences as a fodder for your research.

2019 Dec 25 Solar Eclipse at 4 Cap’10 was exactly on the cusp of my 5th house, and loosely conjunct both Jupiter and Venus (2-3 degrees). Mars ended up there on 22nd February.

While in December my life came apart (in retrospect, in a good and long overdue way), there still wasn’t any action, come February. If anything, there has been a massive delay in heeding the message of the Eclipse, if it arrives ever.

Before that, 2019 July 16 Lunar Eclipse at 25 Cap’1 was a degree and half away from my moon and in 5th house again. Saturn reached here on 23rd Jan and Mars  on 22nd March this year. On 23rd Jan, I was mothering a Saturnian father. On 22nd March, I was again mothering, but an Arian child. The outcome was outside of myself though…being moon, I expected to be the direct recipient of the eclipse’s bounty.

I also had a Lunar Eclipse at 11Leo’39 on my birthday in 2018, which was a degree opposite my Sun, and in my 12th house. Mars reached here on 20th July 2019, near the Lunar Eclipse in the previous paragraph. I finally articulated some otherwordly esoteric experiences that had been happening to me from the Jan 2018 Lunar Eclipse and shared with people who would have understood. 🙂

So with lunar eclipses the Mars and Saturn sign to watch is the sign where the Sun is during the eclipse – got it!

Gosh, so whatever actions start for me next spring when Mars is in Gemini will materialise more when Saturn is in Gemini…

Will check more eclipses.

Umm…no. The other way around. Sign of the moon. Not the sun. At least that’s my experience of the last 2 eclipses listed above. Do you think we should check the signs of the Suns?

Here is a link to a piece by Dawn Bodrogi that fleshes out this notion of Saturn and Earth and their connection to Water  – and the Midheaven and the IC.

Don,

I can’t thank you enough for sharing that article. I have read so much of Dawn’s website that I can’t believe I missed this one. She had a real talent and I was deeply saddened to know she passed away before I even found her web page. 🙁 It would have been an incredible honour to get to know her better.

About Saturn as Earth – Capricorn/Cancer duality of parenthood. I was aware of it, but the consciousness in the grips of major transits missed the significance. Of course, Saturn is manifestation, which is as feminine and motherly as it can get! Earth indeed.

I once read somewhere that new students of astrology get lost in shiny new techniques, points and asteroids without truly internalizing modality, the logic of angles and relevance of house system. Every word written by Dawn proves that. Thank you for sharing it once again.

Mars would be at the degree of 19th/20th June Cancer Eclipse in April 2021. I can’t wait!
