I have always had obsessions and crushes – all unrequisited.
I am learning astrology currently. Astrologically, What are the aspects that are contributing this ?
Venus in pisces conjunct sun, mercury and North node (H9) – Neptune, uranus, saturn in capricorn(H7) and pluto(H5)
in scorpio, moon conj jupiter, mars (H12)

(keeping in mind that I speak as, myself, a student – or a self-proclaimed forever noob): Mars or/and Venus in Scorpio can obsess.
I have those placements, and when I lock on, I’ll want to find out everything. And I’ll talk obsessively about my pursuit to those I trust, and I’ll dream about it, write about it… Etc. Only with me, it’s not exclusive to (romantic/sexual) attractions. I just get like that when something gets under my skin. Also, it’s all or nothing: either I’m utterly obsessed. Or I sort of don’t care (I may be watching, but I’m not in it (yet)).
For me at least!

I’d say mercury/Pluto or Venus /Pluto. I say this because I’m like this. When I crush I crush obsessively and when I’m love I’m totally devoted and obsessed and I’m a Gemini Sun/Venus lol but I do have Mercury Square Pluto and Pluto’s in my 7th house.

Obsession is a Pluto word
Unrequited is Venus/Neptune

l recognize obsessive traits. l can obsess over anything, a person, a thing, a project..its an energy not all bad l feel it’s focus and drive and it can be very good when it comes to things.
obsessing about people is the worst especially if by behavior they trigger that in you. l am learning to deal with it better as l get older. Letting go is for me is very difficult. l have venus&mars 8th house and the moon in Scorpio, Pluto trine Sun/Jupiter/MC

In my experience Neptune and Pluto create a powerful concoction as far as obsessions go.
Neptune can make you feel addicted and Pluto obsesses, tie that to the pleasure principle (Venus)and there you go. However, it happens more so when someone already has markers for obsession in their natal chart (obsession is pluto/scorpio/8th house) tied with personal planets. A more detached person may be less inclined.
I’ve got Moon in the 8th house and Pluto/ascendant and I’ve had intense obsessions with people I had feelings for. It didnt feel like love if it wasnt obsessive (I know better now…) I had an obsession with someone that lasted 5 years. Its been a painful experience every time. It hasn’t happened in a while I get more obsessed with subjects or shows these days. I channel the energy in something less destructive.
I’ve also got Mercury and Venus conjunct Pluto by progression so that’s likely played a part too.
As far as unrequited love… a few things come to mind, like Venus/Saturn could be – love denied, rejection. Pluto/Venus – painful love. Neptune/Venus – unavailable love. Uranus/Venus – detached or distant love.

I went through an absolutely wicked bout of unrequited love and obsession as Chrion crossed over my Pisces Venus/Saturn square and opposed my ascendant. I feel I don’t deserve love anyway so I fixated on someone who would absolutely never love me back, who was mean and indifferent to me at best. I was obsessed with and attracted to the personification of my worst wound. It was complete agony and a terrible 3-year experience, would not recommend!
But, I CAN recommend a good book on the subject “Unrequited: A Thinking Woman’s Guide to Romantic Obsession”. Don’t have to be a woman to read it. I found it illuminating at that particular time in my life.
