The new moon in Libra takes place midday Thursday, hot on the heels of the Sun’s exact opposition to Uranus in Aries. Many times during a full or new moon the lunation is in close aspect to an outer planet – as it was two weeks ago with Pluto squaring the full moon axis. This current opposition, however, is sublimely timed like clockwork, slipping as it does, like a key into a lock as the Moon moves into position to sweep on through its open door. It’s electric, shocking in its timing.
I’ve been glossing over the Moon’s aspects lately. It has seemed merely stage lighting while the slower moving planets took focus. This week the mood is a spotlight that frames the story. Without the Moon, we might miss the point. The transit of the Moon from Virgo to Libra to Scorpio is echoed in Mercury’s move from Libra to Scorpio. It says: Don’t miss the point! It points to desire, relationships, and a deeper understanding.
Monday the Virgo Moon moves from an opposition to Neptune into trine with Pluto and on to a square with Saturn. The Sun sextiles Saturn. Pay attention to the progression of your mood. Slow down and take advantage of the ability to find resonance with something greater than yourself… and power up on it. Take it slow, because grounded people don’t need to rush.
Mercury joins Jupiter in early Scorpio on Tuesday morning as the Moon conjoins Mars in Virgo and goes on to oppose Chiron in Pisces. We have access to far more depth in understanding this week. It may seem almost a bit much, so again – take it slow, but engage your mind and senses! Don’t miss a single tempting bite of knowledge. Sometimes the truth hurts. I’m not saying it will. Some people put walnuts in brownies, but we still have to soldier on.
I’m saying that if it does hurt, remember this: The pain inflicted by others is not about you. If you feel hurt by someone else’s actions, check yourself. Your truth may vary. For more on that, re-read the Weekend Love Forecast.
In any case, Tuesday’s Moon then moves from Virgo to Libra. In Libra the Moon moves into conjunction with and over Venus by nighttime. People may not be in the mood to discuss the deeper implications of what is coming up. However, they will want to make nice, and there’s a terrific opportunity to touch base and feel as though you connect, regardless of what differences you may have.
By Wednesday, the Moon has moved over Venus, and Mercury moves past Jupiter (though still close). The Moon quincunxes Neptune and squares Juno. Venus is also in orb of square with Juno in Capricorn. While Jupiter was in Libra it aspected Saturn a great deal, in opportunity – in sextile. We worked on our greater understanding of relationship as a concept. Its truths and its reality in our lives. Currently there’s a niggling jangle when we see the difference between what we desire, the ideal, and what we have worked to nail down.
Notice how it feels. Whatever we’ve promised, we still have to serve what’s right for us going forward. Just notice, take it in.
Early Thursday, the Libra Moon sextiles Saturn. It is a pleasant type of grounding, like the string on a balloon. It feels safe to let your mood rise and enjoy the morning. Enjoy!
As the new moon conjunction approaches, the Sun opposes Uranus exactly, then the Moon does; then the Moon and Sun meet. Relationships are in flux. They are getting zapped by change. That doesn’t mean they will be broken up, but they will be revolutionized. Unsettled is the way of things in the process of change. Set an intention to balance those changes with charm and grace. To quote Wil Wheaton: Don’t be a dick. That should be getting easier and easier with experience. That’s about all you really need to know!
Later Thursday the Moon moves to Scorpio, into and over the Jupiter-Mercury conjunction. Bring your conception of what is changing into a deeper and broader understanding, one rooted in heartfelt acceptance. This is happening. Get with the program and go to the next level… or at least get right with the idea of going there.
Friday the Scorpio Moon sextiles Juno and trines Neptune. The whole world is in a state of flux with relationship goals and personal commitments… and all the deep feels they stimulate. There’s a higher purpose to all of this. It’s a higher purpose toward the good of all, as well as our own heart. Feel the connection and let it inspire you to commit to that greater good, to working on it – alongside personal pledges.
If I may make a suggestion, I suggest you make it your business to do more thinking than action this week. Really get into your own head and examine your own attitudes. Seek out the deeper root of ideas that pique your curiosity. Uncover what’s really at the base of your own ways of thinking about relationship. If you want a concrete suggestion for reading, I’m really digging into “Cosmic Love: Secrets of the Astrology of Intimacy Revealed” by Jan Spiller. She also wrote “Astrology for the Soul”. Both interpret the Moon’s nodes as their basis. You can find both on Amazon. I like the ability to download to my phone via the Kindle app.
The new moon takes place at 26 Libra. Where does this hit your chart? Does it fall in the same house with Venus in Libra and Mars in Virgo, or is it grouped together with Jupiter and Mercury in Scorpio?
