Is being always happy a problem?

I will preface this by saying that I have Sun conjunct Jupiter in Cancer. I can be extremely sensitive but for as long as I can remember, I’ve always been happy. Like really happy in myself.

It doesn’t matter whether I was being bombed out by my paternal grandmother, or changing schools or being bullied at my new schools, or being rejected by my step-siblings or criticised by sundry relatives for things I can’t quite help like breathing through my mouth (got ‘em allergies and sinusitis) etc I have always been happy.

When I was in college, before uni, a friend said: we can’t all be happy like you.

He did not mean it as a compliment.

When I read charts for friends, I try to find a positive on even the bleakest of situations. Eg. A relative is about to embark on a new course of study which she hopes to earn a living through. The issue is that she has been told by some person that she can’t make money from it. She needs to finance her younger kid to study.

So I surveyed her progressions and saw that money will be weighing heavily on her mind for the next 3 years. Didn’t check the transits as she already sent me her natal’s vs transits and that already showed she was studying. It didn’t show WHY. Fine. I looked at the natal and the capacity to earn an income wasn’t really there. I looked at it from all aspects: as a career, as a second career, as a job where she could be a contractor, as a hobby…

Anyway, what my Sun conjunct Jupiter tells me is that people must always have Hope. Hope may be the only thing that they have so don’t rob them of it.

I told her: the studies are good for you because you enjoy learning about ways to help others.

This is true.

As for the money, I suggested returning to her old vocation, where income was variable but she was considered a veteran and hence, could command decent wages. She said she wanted to move on. So I had to tell her that the new venture wasn’t going to be highly profitable.

She asked: So it’s ok if I don’t want to get rich?

I was thinking more along the lines of scrabbling to make an income. But with a nod to Chiron on DC, instead said: There are many ways to be rich. Money is only one of them.

Which of course I truly do believe in.

Anyway, if you have Sun Jupiter too, are you also always happy? Do you have this compelling need to give hope, if nothing else? Has this ever annoyed the people around you because you don’t want to mope?

I think it's great. There is nothing bad about it. It takes all kinds and there is enough room in the world for you, just as you are.

When people say bad things too you, just bounce up as you were designed to.

Also, it's good to be identified. If people need cheered up, they know who to see.

@elsa Thanks Elsa!!! ?? I will take your advice on board and remember that this is how I was designed.

Other people are designed differently and that’s just how it is.

The reason this post came about is because my beloved Aqua, Frances, and I had a disagreement. She has Sun Saturn, and Venus in Sag. I have Sun Jupiter and Venus conjunct Saturn. We are usually v compatible and have a friendship that has withstood limited in-person contact.

Anyway, for some reason we always disagree when it comes to to our children. Both our children have “issues” but where she says hers “will amount to not much” (but are still under the age of 12) I say, “Aim for the stars, they are waiting.”

Today I came across a high-school dropout who became a successful property developer and sent it to her. I look at it and think, “This is great. It shows anything is possible.” She said that she hates such wishful thinking. ?

@estella you just have different natures but also, she may be temporarily beaten down.

I have an ex who used to say that happy people (like me) annoyed him to some extent. He just couldn't see what there was to smile about. But if you're a "smiler", you're going to wind up smiling.

@elsa Thank you again! I know I can always count on you for some insight! ???

She may be beaten down and I suppose with debilitated Sun being her 5th ruler vs exalted Jupiter being my 5th co-ruler, we are always going to see things differently in this regard.

Will check out your post now! ❤️

I love this topic!! The world really needs Sun Jupiter people like you, especially during these times. I wonder if the extremely positive approach can be off-putting for those who feel like they get something out of being in "victim mode." They may have received more as a child for complaining or having a sob story. And it sure does sound like some Saturn placements like your friend's would have something to do with it! Saturn conjunct Sun friends with Jupiter conjunct Sun... wow!! Sounds like Eeyore and Tigger!

@rapunzelsoldierfish Thanks for the compliment! ?❤️ Now that you mentioned it, we do seem like Eeyore and Tigger. I should remember not to jump up and down on Eeyore’s house of sticks. ?

I shared Elsa’s Video with my Eeyore and we embarked on a discussion of how we are different but complimentary. Then we had a further discussion on why she feels like the Jupiter in her chart, on the AC, has played some nasty trick on her and led her to believe that she was going to X but ended up doing Y instead.

Gently, gently, I noted that the strongest planet in her chart is Saturn in Cancer in the 4th, which is very much enamoured with Jupiter in Aries on the AC, but Jupiter doesn’t return the favour. Her chart ruler Mars in Gemini dislikes Jupiter and makes no aspect.

Summarily she thinks Jupiter is meant to bring certain things to her. She sure thinks about Jupiter’s “supposed gifts” all the time. Except she is rejecting what Jupiter really brings to her, which is distance from her place of origin. At one time, Jupiter brought her a lot of higher education, L9, foreigners, myself included.

But did she really want to go to far flung places for over a decade with Jupiter or end up residing far away? Her home life being dependent on Jupiter.

Most people have not processed their hurts so that they are not the victims in their own narrative. Maybe the hurt is familiar and comforting, no matter how painful.

We all go through hard outer planet transits, but what we gain from them is entirely dependent on how willing we are to dig deep, tunnel through the rubble and rebuild. No one says it is easy. My Sun Jupiter says it’s entirely possible. ?

Another great topic.  I have Sun conjunct Jupiter in Capricorn as well in my chart and have been regarded by family as a cheerleader.  My son just graduated with his PhD yesterday and his professor let me know how my son had told him that he would not have finished if I hadn't kept pushing him on.  He wanted to quit so many times!  My brother hated how I was always whistling while doing stuff!  Makes me laugh now because it was so silly.  I think some people just need a little lift me up.  But, I also have Saturn conjunct those other two planets so if I am talking to another happy person, I tend to balance it out with some bah humbug talk.  Typical Capricorn, I guess.

@denamaria Everyone of us needs someone to cheer them on. Good on you for helping your son sustain morale and self-belief to the finish line! ???

My Aqua pal is the Saturn in our interaction. I have Venus Saturn conjunct. She has Venus in Sag. She has Moon Pluto on the DC. I have Moon Pluto in a trine. My Moon is part of a rolling conjunction with Venus and Saturn on one side and Merc on the other. Our Mars are exactly square, both Merc ruled. She compliments me in many ways. Just that from time to time my perpetual effervescence and ability to be inspired by random strangers annoys her. ?
