What do ya think?

Have you changed in any way? Or have you just become more of yourself? Do you just superficially change in front of others to blend in?

Does changing a personality trait count as ‘changing’? And finally, is personality just superficial, or is it part of the deeper aspect (s) of a human being, too?

Im an 8th house Pisces so I transform (8th) myself (Sun) continually.  And since I have the Sun and Moon in Pisces, I have never had a good grip on my own identity in the first place, so I am even more prone to changing my personality.  I do think that my tendency to transform myself is something that will stay the same, so in some respect, I do stay the same.  Some aspects of my personality tend to remain the same as well, such as my tendency to daydream.  My intensity of feeling.  My interest in spirituality and psychology.  My love of adventure (9th venus and mars)  But on a surface identity level, I do change.  I think everyone does to some extent also.

The identity is technically ego and ego can die and change, everyones can.  This is what the 8th house is good at too.  The ego is not perfect like the soul is.  Part of me is never satisfied with my ego.

Just realized I didn’t answer the actual questions, sorry…I fail, lol.

Do I think people change, at core? They probably maneuver their energy to fit social acceptable roles. But I also think that some change is organic, like some may become less angry as they age.

I tend to have mixed feelings. I also believe some core personality traits are the same, even over time.

yeah true. i dont think people change. they always are who they are deep down, but if they are shown some positive good results and love, they can be shown a different direction and usually will steer that way. well i hoped so. but they are still that person.

I think people can change some personality traits, but not a complete overhaul of their personality.

So, in a way, I do believe people can change.

We are born with what we have chartwise and ‘ leopards don’t change their spots’ but when young we don’t really know about those spots, so we work with what we have and grow and learn and develop as we age which is the normal way of life, what we learn and how we take it tends to be the way we develop using those spots and of course our actions play a big part in any results as we go along. This growth and learning includes the internal progression energies too, which allow for different ways of feeling, thinking and presenting ourselves.

Consciously altering ones personality behavior in front of others in order to blend in is like lying and its fake and if someone has to do that maybe they should take a serious look into why they would superficially do it? Maybe its part of their personality? Most people are not fooled by that kind of superficial chameleon behavior anyway. The personality is not controlled. Acting to impress others or whatever is not the personality it is only a controlled deliberate act. Faking a personality trait/behavior to blend in is an action done by choice or forced by others or by circumstances, either way its method is manipulative, but consider the reason/s, is it social or anti-social, what is the purpose for it, and there is always a purpose, usually survival is at the root, all living things do this, its learned behavior to adapt, the reasons are myriad. Realization can result in change, as can total destruction on various scales.

I agree with you WinterMoon.

I have watched my children grow up and observed them at every age and in almost all situations.

They are the same as they were when they were little….babies even.

I think we grow wiser as we get older and maybe we aren’t as impulsive as we were when we were teens and 20’s. Don’t take as many risks…but we are who we are.

I am who I am, the same as I have always been. I have just learned life lessons and from mistakes so I don’t make the same mistakes.

I’m standing by my choice and saying, people can change, even more than a little.

I have changed, a lot, in many ways, over my 6 decades.

Some parts of me are essentially unchanged, and I don’t expect or want them to change.

But many parts HAVE changed, whether it was something I wanted and worked hard for, or whether it was an unwanted change I had no control over.

But then my chart is heavily Plutonian and the way it is laid out, I have been under pretty near constant Pluto transit all my life and will continue to be, so TRANSFORMATION is my middle name.

Plutonians are always changing, which in itself is a ‘sameness’ in itself. But it also counts as a change. Confused yet? yell yell yell yell yell

I once was engaged to a Taurus Sun-Moon. She was EXTREMELY allergic to the word “change” and to the concept or possibility of her changing, or having changed, in any way.

It didn’t matter the semantics, how you defined or attempted to define the word.

Nope. No. Nope. No CHANGE!!!

It was an interesting blindness actually, because she wanted other people to change. Just not her!! (But if you attempted to point this out to her, she would say “but that’s not change”…)

The word itself was viscerally repulsive and problematic for her. 😀

Taurus can be very stubborn to change. What do they call it… bullheaded?  😉
