I know what you mean re: calm. I’m in a similar position. Death, illness and high stress surrounds me, but I’ve gone into this calm, almost zen detached state. I think it’s like a survival mechanism. I can’t afford to fall to pieces, I have to help carry others, and knock off my degree.

My son’s preschool teacher stopped by today to drop something off and seeing her in person rather than on a screen made me cry. It’s killing me to be blocked from even minimal socializing at this point. And I’ve seen other people, it’s just that this was someone I saw every weekday and who teaches my children, and she is a fixture in our lives.

These lock downs are having a real adverse affect on everyone’s mental health.  Its gone on too long.  I got an email from my dentist today.  They are going to open on June 1 with all kinds of restrictions, of course.  I had an April 1 appointment that they canceled and they said they would call everyone to reschedule sometime in the future.  That’s hopeful that maybe soon life can be more normal.

The bottom line is we’re going to have to live with this virus.  There isn’t any reason for being locked down if you don’t live in a highly populated city.  I went to a garden store yesterday near where I live and bought potting soil and some pots.  There were 4 people there with masks on.  I would go to other retail stores like that, but they’re all deemed non-essential and they’re closed till further notice.  Its just nonsensical.

My state, NJ, needs to open up too.

I’m starting to feel a bit depressed. If all we went through the last few months was a lie….then it’s making me question everything.

Due to the state’s shelter-in-place, and the food shortages, I took up gardening (very small scale, but still planting stuff). I have felt more connected to nature and my pace is slowing down.  I have been building up my shelf-stable pantry goods.  I’m learning to be more frugal, order needed supplies online or in non-crowded local stores, and avoid eating out. I get most of my meat and eggs from a butcher now, and the farmer’s markets are open if I want fresh produce or honey.

But now that it looks like we collectively overreacted to this virus….what now? Have I been reorienting my life for nothing? Is this my Neptune transit messing with me? I don’t want to let go of what I gained from this time period, even if it was based on half-truths and confusion from those in power!

Don’t worry we all lose faith in something at some point and it always hurts.

When I look back on such things though I often start to see it as removing something in my life that has had quite a bit of effect, and so I can replace the loss with positive things. I.e. if I get a manipulative person out of my life I have freed up a lot of time that I can spend with others.

I think the “deconfinement” (as they call it here) is having a big decompression effect.

Everyone was living on nerves for weeks/months and then pooofff, the whole thing just seem to sputter to nothing comprehensible.

No wonder people are lost/erring.

Don’t give up NMC! You’re a tough kid, but in the throes of doubt.

I think things will even out a some point and energy will come back. But I imagine the RX planets will make this drag on for a while and this dragging on is also what gets people down. I think everyone was expecting a swift pick-up effect (thereby the disappointment), but it will take a little while to invent a sort of “new” way of life. All this going on for months does get depressing.

Those all sound like really positive changes to me! I don’t know how you could think it was all a waste?

I think you are extremely wise and responsible for taking the virus seriously considering your field of work. I live in a sparsely populated area, and most of the cases here have been in nursing homes and connected to healthcare facilities.

My concern is that I made these changes out of fear. However–I like the changes! I’ll admit that I really don’t want to go back to the way my life was before, even if it was more convenient, in some ways.

I watch the local hospital system numbers daily here in north Georgia and they’re trending upward again. Texas has had two days of record-breaking hospitalizations. Over 2,000 in a day! I try to remember stuff like this every time I feel silly scheduling grocery pickups or wearing a mask in a store. We’re not all clear yet, though I do feel more relaxed than I did two months ago.

I seems to me that what you call fear is more like being prudent & responsible!

Don’t let it get you down!!!

Well if you abandon the changes once your fear is dissolved, then that would be one story.

Or you can continue to integrate these changes into your life, since you realize that you like them. Now is the time to make it more intentional if you’re recognizing that your initial motive was fear!

It sounds like the coronavirus/fear-based situation was like a gateway that unlocked this potential you had, to make these changes.

I would say to focus on what you found beyond that gate, what you like about it and what resonates with you, rather than how you got there.

Besides, there’s no way of knowing that we’re actually out of the woods yet…
