I see there is a new insult out there; new to me anyway.

"heavily propagandized"

Doubles as the newest excuse, "I was heavily propagandized when I thought that". Smile

@sophiab I hope so! It would be a sign of the great awakening actually happening!

@elsa I just watched a segment of The Young Turks where some guy they were interviewing said that Tucker Carlson was “propagandizing” (in regards to BLM and looting). As soon as I heard him say that I thought of what you said! 😃

@notmycircus Anyone with a platform like Carlson has is part of this. Unfortunately, the young turks are also in the club.

I'd heard the name but did not know who they are but a quick search revealed this. You have to watch the hands; not just in still images but live as well.

They tell you - telegraph this, non-stop, constantly.

It's very much like one actor plays the villain.

The other(s) play the hero.

The work together to make the one show.

Once a person sees this, they can get their bearings and begin to figure out what they're going to do in their predicament.

@elsa  Kind of like that show “Hannity and Colmes”?

They were a conservative/liberal duo (Hannity’s job was to play the sane, rational conservative and Colmes’ job was to play “devil’s advocate” and question him at every turn. Sometimes I got the feeling from listening to them that they were engaging in political theatre and didn’t necessarily believe the words coming out of their own mouths! “Talking points”, they call them.)

@notmycircus Right. It's scripted. Like a circus.

Went over to my friend's yesterday for Thanksgiving. I was one of the few people they invited and the only one who showed up. I had a good time despite it being just us, apart from my friend's cousin who showed up for a little while.

I could've sworn shortly after I showed up that when I sat down, my friend was giving me a once over or in layman's terms, was checking me out. Pretty amusing now that I think about it. Lol.

Italians

This pretty much tells you how Italians were viewed.
My family immigrated to California.

@elsa My family did too. We are still here! But my family is from Switzerland and Northern Italy, so blue eyes etc. I think that made it easier to pass as a WASP. But in reality there was even disdain against southern Italians and Sicilians from Northern Italians and Swiss Italians.

@libra-noir my family is still in CA as well. It was just my father who left. And they opened restaurants and wound up enormously successful, 1st and 2nd generation. That side of the family, anyway. I'm a black sheep.
I also don't know how the 3rd and 4th generations are doing. People stopped having children; as you know, being a single child is quite different than being part of a brood.

@elsa My family were dairy ranchers. Some of the Swiss Italians here with my name still own gigantic ranches and are rich but my grandfather for whatever reason couldn’t make it work with what he was given and died young (like 50’s) and poor.

It was so nice to see my family at Thanksgiving after two years.  It was a long visit so we can all just catch up and enjoy each other's company.  My turkey really sucked though because it was grizzly, but my family were all good sports and ate it anyway, as did I.

I got the turkey from a local butcher that I've bought from for years, so I'm going to tell him about it.  It sure wasn't cheap.  Aside from that, everything else was great.
