Thoughts on the Metaverse
I was responding to this comment on "Fake Human...". I had so much to say, I decided to make a new thread.
@elsa One observation I've made as this is getting talked about more is that it's weird hearing more spiritually inclined people hopeful and interested in it. I've heard an astrologer/clairvoyant talk about it hopefully, saying people could learn how to perform surgery or go to other countries and learn about their cultures with $0-no budget. I like to hear their perspective, but it freaks me out a little to even hear more "awake" people talk like this. Then again, if they are "awake" maybe they are more open-minded. I would like to think there is more of a light side than a dark side to it, but I can't help but think that something we can feel more ungrounded in than grounded could be very misleading and dangerous.
Chakra-wise... can anyone have a balanced root chakra if they were to spend half to majority of their time in a metaverse?
@rapunzelsoldierfish It doesn't seem good but I'm not certain. It appears super addictive sort of gaming + gambling. Of course there will be more than that (p r on). But I'm thinking about not being about to get a 3 year old to look away from the TV at all. And all the content is degenerate to a degree... and the degree seems very high.
People often repeat this quote from, I-don't-know-who, in regard to religion - "Give me a kid until he/she is X years old, they'll never have a free thought again...
Well, at least religion (in general) teaches a person not to lie and steal and such. It's very different in the gaming / media culture.
I see like getting on drugs... or I have know a number of parents over the years (like maybe twenty) who lost their teenagers to a cult. You try to warn your kids about things like this but there is virtually no one on the shore at this time, if you know what I mean. To pull you out of the water, see?
So it's not just young people which I have been trying to assert lately. The metaverse is very sticky. It's set up like Pokemon - gotta catch them all. Artificial scarcity, that is real?
Pogs.... my son was collecting Pokemon cards and I saw three generations (age 17 - 35) at my very own house, chasing Pokemon - GO! Satori was into it as well and she's older.
But my generation is not immune! I vividly recall women in their 30's and 40's standing outside Hallmark stores for Beanie Babies.
This is newer:
This is from 2006.
See, these trends are highly visible to me. Jupiter Uranus in my chart. But I don't think there is going to be a lot of redemption going on in the Metaverse. I see a big ol' store, optimized. Like maze to get lost in.
The internet is the same of course. This is just an upgrade / more deadly, is my guess. It doesn't mean it won't be fun or you can't learn anything but here's an idea what concerns me..
I was watching an stupid and obscure movie about tech. The character stated people were so distracted they didn't know who they were, but the tech companies knew exactly who they were.
That's the problem right there. It takes you away from... your soul. If it's true you were created for a certain purpose(s), I think it will be easy to miss your offramp, when distracted by all the twinklies, twinkling 'round the clock.
There are numerous depictions of what this wasted person would look like. When I saw similar images associated with heroin when I was young, I decided not to use heroin. Had I made a different decision...well I don't think it would have come out too well.
Please share your thoughts on the metaverse.
So many are pleasantly surprised how good they feel when they have gotten disconnected from their tech due to weather or power outages, I can't imagine that even more immersion can be a good thing.
@rapunzelsoldierfish I had a message recently that Saturn's transit through Pisces will involve a crisis and levelling experience for many proclaimed spiritual types.
@elsa That transit must surely also tie in with the use of a metaverse?
There seems to be a growing divide between people who live completely invested in the external with a fragmented or annihilated sense of self, and others heading further and further inward, rediscovering and building a strong sense of self. The sense of self/sense of reality is completely different.
Reminds me of the ideas about the new earth where there would be these parralel paradigms existing simultaneously. The metaphor being that energetically a completely new earth starts to exist side by side with the old one. Like an overlay.
This is a transition time and choices about direction are more obvious, more acute. The question I ask myself increasingly is, is there a reason for me to care so much about the experience of those who are on a different path from me, is it better just to let go and follow the direction that feels natural to me? Am I trying to 'save' them, why, and is it not an old part of me that was depressed and compliant and I can't let go of her, that I'm projecting and trying to save. I personally find that the path I'm on involves bearing a lot of grief over a long period of time so as to let go, with the hope of renewal of my spirit and lifeforce, but avoiding the grief and emotions in general seems to be leading to increasingly distorted ways of living.
I guess a question is, what will it be like on earth if we live with the existence of these parallel paradigms of human experience?
Oh snap! True B did a tarot reading on the Metaverse. Hunnay…..
She starts the reading at about an hour and 9 minutes in. The Metaverse is some dark shit. Her eye rolls at the reveal of every card in the reading….??
