Today, I came across a "new" psychology term, "suppressive personality".  It was defined as someone who ruins your life in that they constantly put you down and such. The source I was reading painted this out to be a "psychopathic" type person... well, someone who is totally invested in f**5$ing up your day.

I know there are people like this. There were some memes on the site...

"Are you depressed or just hanging with a--holes" type notes.  It's a good question.

I decided to search this term, later. When I followed through, I immediately learned, or rather "recalled" the term comes from scientology.  Anyone who tries to get you to leave that practice is called a "SP". I saw this is a documentary awhile back, but I'd forgotten.

At the end of this little exercise, the only thing I learned is not to use that phrase! Or that term! Or to even think about it because it can't be talked about because it's meaning is obscured.

So much of our lives are like this now.  It's maddening and severely limiting social interactions.

I'm not really sure what to do about this... and I welcome any ideas. Right now, I am just trying to focus on what I have in common with people... humor for example. Or the fact I'm a seeker and I wish to know things.  But there is little that is pure out there these days. I am going to work double time to not be absorbed into it.

Does any of this sound familiar to anyone?

It is extremely familiar to me. The simple act of speaking is fraught with landmines. They are everywhere. Everything is inverted, as you say. There is a prominent theme with much of this that good is bad and bad is good. If it isn't an inversion of that, it's  simply that all the definitions you keep are no longer in order. It looks like duality and mutability run amok.

Does this feel like an expression of the nodes being in Gemini  and Sagittarius to you? I have been wondering about that myself anyway.

At the very least l do know that we are all here after an all inclusive social engineering onslaught that has been going on for many decades. I am not all that mutable to change my definitions or to invert the foundations of knowledge. My charts foundation sits upon a fixed cross. I can change my mind if given convincing evidence that my definitions are wrong and sometimes they are. I'm  just a poor candidate for social engineering and accepting truth as what is repeatedly broadcasted or screamed the loudest.

I can't say it's easy to have this atmosphere surrounding communication at this time. You are right, it is maddening. It's  like crawling across cut glass just to open your mouth. You have to pick and choose wisely but in the end you have to be firm and solid with what you know to be true and never waver in handing your integrity away in group-think.

I think you have a knack for that balance. You seem to be doing it well. Libra smiley

Thank you. The fact is, I can see both sides. Always.

I can argue both sides too. This was actually required when I was a kid. We had debates. You were assigned a side and had to argue it, period.

@elsa That is, l think clear to all because of the way you allow for the dignity of the individual to remain intact regardless of the arguments finer points. You see the value both ways. I think it is generosity  at work here.

My Libra Moon didn't miss that generosity

@ln thanks again. This is a forum. It's exists so people can meet and greet and enjoy various discourse with people from all over the world. You do not have to pick a side to be here, or even have a side. It's good for venting, asking questions, soliciting opinions or asking for support. Sometimes a person wants to just think out loud which is also fine.

This forum is at it's best when a variety of people post on a variety of things. I guess it's hard to do right now. A lot of people are depressed.

Long ago, my husband told me this site was a light that should be kept on. This was before we married.

He said that he'd thought about it deeply, and prayed. He said he thought this site was important and needed, so much so, he did not think we should marry, if it would affect my ability to keep this light on.

He was serious and I took him as such. So I just keep going. Hopefully, when I die, someone else will keep the light on. In whatever case, on topic, the best thing I can think of to do is just not give up.

And another point, working or talking to people one on one, never seems to be a problem. It makes me wonder how much of the trouble is artificially created. In reality. Most people want friends... need friends and they want to get along. I mean, why not?

That’s exactly what I was talking about in this post. https://www.elsaelsa.com/forum/lounge/degradation-of-semantics-the-torture-of-mercury-and-the-tower-of-babel/paged/2/#post-66212

Words aren’t just words anymore. Many terms and concepts have group behind it and an agenda attached, but none of that is explicit. And it’s sure as heck not an organic evolution of speech. There’s a lot of thought and effort placed in this endeavor. It’s a form of mass manipulation and control. I think we are going to see more and more of it this year.

Yes, as they reopen the holding places for people trying to  come in on the border a mysterious word transformation has occurred. The  "cages" are now "facilities". And everyone can sleep a self-satisfied sleep. lmao

Maybe this has nothing to do with the topic, but has anyone noticed that struggling to put food on the table is now being called "food insecure"? For the last several months, that catchphrase has been all over the place. Why is poverty being reimagined (oh, there's another new buzzword) now? Is it because suddenly, a lot of white-collar, middle class people found themselves standing in line at food banks, and "food insecurity" is a way to sanitize the indignity of being poor?

@notmycircus it's not new. They introduced a "food insecure" character on Sesame Street about a dozen years ago. That was the phrase used. "Food insecure household" is used as well.

As for the agenda behind it, I don't know.
