I love the first 2/3 of the 90’s, when it comes to music. But once you get to the late 90’s, like 1998, you had the Backstreet Boys, Spice Girls, Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, etc, etc. And unfortunately, things have gone even more downhill from there.

I haven’t listened to the radio since the early 00’s.

Ouch, thats like a knife in the heart Hermit!!  blackeye_gif    I grew up with all those late 90’s groups so I have so much nostalgia around them! How can you not love the Spice Girls though!!!!! Pure blasphemy!!   eek_gif

I do agree though that the 00’s was a slippery slope…

I don’t mind a Backstreet boy song (Loved/still love their song ‘As long as you love me’), or a Britney Spears song, here or there. But by the time Britney and Jennifer Lopez became famous, teen pop and shallower music became the main course.

I even enjoyed Aqua’s Barbie Girl song from 1997. I don’t mind fun, pop, songs. But when they became dominant, that was when I turned against them! I’m not a music snob by the way.

Even when there was bad music in the 80’s and 90’s, there was rock, and other music to balance it out. But by the early 00’s, it seemed that mainstream music had lost its way!

I love much of the 90’s music but it’s alternative and metal. Lots of metal, still: Godsmack, White Zombie, Metallica, Alice In Chains just to name a few.

I didn’t really do Spice Girls or JLo, Backstreet Boys. I was in my 30’s though so maybe that’s it 🤔 “old people” 🙄

lol

Haha Allie!  laugh

But yes I think it probably is a generational thing- I’ve never met anyone my age who doesn’t love those late 90’s groups (and Disney songs  wink ). Thats nostalgia for you though- it can make the most mundane things seem magical! Or in this case make the most basic music seem like its heaven-sent lol

I can understand that! I’m glad you’re having a blast! Seriously! Sometimes you hear a song and it just takes you right back to those days! It’s an awesome feeling. 👏👏

Just a random thought here. Being very anti social because clearly I am into music a whole lot and know about the area, but am ignoring the ongoing music conversation in favour of an amusing piece of trivia for me. I was just thinking of the first Kung Fu Panda film that is probably one of my favourite films ever!

From memory:

Tai Lung: Where is the dragon warrior?

Tigress: How do you know you’re not looking at her?

Tai Lung: You think I’m a fool? I know you’re not the dragon warrior, NONE OF YOU! I heard how he came out of the sky on a ball of fire, how he’s, a WARRIOR unlike any the world has ever seen.

Monkey: Pole?

Tai Lung: So that is his name… Pole! Finally a worthy opponent, our battle will be legendary!

I deleted my whole Twitter account to spite my ex, who was/is an Aquarius Sun. What a dick! Trying to troll, be passive aggressive, to me. He won’t talk to me on another online forum (we’re both on that forum), yet still has my account on his account? What an a$$. 100% Passive aggressive! I was right to dump him. He’s a twit.

I don’t know how many times I read something or heard something today and thought that is really profound and seems meant for me to see or hear.

I also took myself on a little road trip. I let me buy whatever I wanted. I bought a really soft sweatshirt that has multicolor Love on it in graphics that are ’70s style.  neptune heart
