Hello Folks,
I have a new idea for student engagement and wonder if anyone has any ideas or suggestions to make it work.
Halloween is coming and most of the kids know about the book and figure The Elf on a Shelf. If you are not a parent, the elf appears in the house before Xmas and runs around doing pranks at night. During the day he is frozen in place (usually in some funny position or act).
I have this big spider prop that I can pose and move around the Library. I also have some tiny hats that will fit its head lol.
Im know she is going to be Charlotte and that she will start off reading about pigs to figure out that silly old Wilbur lol. The hats could be her costume tryouts for Halloween, maybe. Any thoughts appreciated
This sounds fun. If I was a kid, I would LOVE it. I would also like some competition built in. Not necessarily against others, but against myself.
Like, Pokémon. Try to catch them all!
Ah thanks, can you keep up with Charlottes reading rate (great book club idea) or can you write her a recommendation for a book to read ....hmmm great
ps my keyboard no longer has the question mark or apostrophe working so Im not really making tons of typos lol
As you know, I was a library-going kid. They had those summer reading programs... one year it was a mountain to climb, lol. They put your name on a flag, attached to a stick pin, and stuck in the paper mache (or some material) "mountain". As you read your 10 books over the summer, you made it up the mountain.
Perfect for me, that's for sure.
That is great. A nice visual representation of your progress. We could do something like that. thanks Elsa
I would’ve loved this as a kid! Maybe you could feature fiction and non-fiction books on spiders and arachnids?
