Eggs are down to $2.99 a dozen. They were $4.19 a week ago. I guess people quit buying them so they had to drop the price.

I was out and my husband wanted more Miracle Whip. It lasts a long time in our house because I don’t touch it. So I hadn’t bought it in a while.

$7.99 for a container. wtaf

@allie120 yeah, mayo, with eggs is ridiculous... but prices are coming down around here... finally.

Plant-based ethanol in petrol to double to 10% from April

Apparently, they are going to ruin out engines, mowers and older cars.

@elsa This hurts. I've been determined to keep a computer-free car. Mine is 2009 and we keep it maintained. I don't want a screen in my car. I was told that one day I'll need to drive a worker's truck; they're the only ones without them. I was fine with that. But if this is true, that plan will not come to fruition. But what's life going to look like 10 years from now anyway. It's overwhelming to me when I think about it.

@dolce It is overwhelming at times. I wonder about my mom’s generation. She’s just going along, with no computer, cell phone, car, nothing. Doesn’t really care that she doesn’t, for the most part. At least she has us to help her out. It makes me wonder how much I will fight, or not because I realize it doesn’t really matter in the end.

It does matter to me now. I just wonder about perspective when one gets to be 87.

@allie120 There's definitely a difference at that age, and I can kinda already feel some of that "old lady" mentality to a degree. At that point, you've fought your fights. I figure at that age I hope I'm set up enough that it's easy to maintain the wins I get now. Beyond that there seems to be a resignation that you can't win them all, or you can't control it all. A sort of acceptance, and a looking toward the next adventure, on one's own.

It sounds peaceful to just remove oneself as much as possible. Insulate oneself, except to care for your own in whatever way you can.

Of course there are always those who fight to the death, even to age 90. I like them. I'm not sure I'll be one of them though.

@dolce Yes, I certainly have noticed a shift in some of my thinking over the years, in both directions if you can believe that lol. I can feel how I would dig in on some things, let go of others.

I saw my MIL go with the flow, technology-wish, but she was still grounded in her beliefs and faith. I like to see the older generation and what they think, do, how they react.

@allie120 me too, it's helpful in a variety of ways. And I can relate to all you've said

@elsa Wow! That’s inexpensive!

I picked up some from the sugar house at the Maple Syrup Fest. We got there early so 👍. They were $5/dozen which is on par for backyard chicken eggs this year.

I'm finding more and more that I'm picking up things from the shelf, looking at the price and putting it back. Essentials aren't too bad - 12 large eggs, £2.49 for example, but Utilities are shooting up. I'm paying about £70 per WEEK for gas and electricity, using them quite sparingly, and our broadband had just gone up to £37 per month. What we used to live comfortably on is not stretching nearly as far theses days.

@plutolover Electricity has doubled here, too. They raised rates in the state at the beginning of the year. Everything is 🥴

@allie120 it's shite, isn't it? We've also got nationwide commercials telling us all to turn down our thermostats, have 4 minute showers, you get the idea..... Meanwhile, our PM has had to have his local power grid upgraded to meet the demands of his private pool...

@plutolover I love how they’re pushing EV’s too. It’s all a farce.

@allie120 exactly. We've got a 2009 Chevy, and we're sticking with it as long as possible.

@plutolover Yes! The vehicle I drive is a 2008 Mazda 3 with no Bluetooth, no navigation, 230k miles. I love it. My husband put a lot of work into last year. Thank God he can work on vehicles. Our other one is a 2015 Ram truck. I dread the day we have to buy something.

@allie120 my partner's the same, great with mechanics, but he can't get his head around these computer-controlled vehicles. His other car is a '72 MG Roadster (that's his baby 😀 )

@plutolover Isn’t it a blessing to know this stuff or know someone who does? My husband always picks up the OEM manual and has a blast with that 😂

72 MG Roadster! What a classic!

@allie120 it is great having a mechanically-minded guy in your life! I like how he shows me what the problem is, too, and how he can fix it. I just nod along, looking like I know exactly what he's saying 🤣
