I don't know how many people here know about this already but, I have heard recently that Google, facebook etc. and all the monopolies are trying to corner the market so that they can decide what people can or cannot say.

That youtube has recently changed its terms of service and gone through a massive demonitisation campaign to stop certain views being put forward. That facebook has signed up to EU "hate speech" laws and is doing the same. That Amazon started off publishing everything and now that small publishers have closed down they are starting to censor things. That Amazon has received £1 million of taxpayers money!

Twitter has had so many people thrown off its platform, for very small things mostly. It has become far less interesting.

This is a very scary prospect! Apparently Google is not only censoring right wing sources but also left wing sources. Basically ANYONE THAT QUESTIONS THE GOVERNMENT AND MAINSTREAM MEDIA!

This feels like such a Goliath problem. I have changed two things recently, my blog I moved from Google blogspot, and I have added Mozilla to my android phone. On top of that I also have search engine and email. Clearly YouTube which is owned by Google is not as easy. Moving over to Gab from twitter might be worth another try. Onto minds.com and vimeo perhaps.

Anyone else think of these things?

Yes, this has been going on for awhile.  All the censorship is the result of the liberal PC culture that has taken hold in our social media and mainstream media.  Google, whose motto used to be "Don't Be Evil" has become evil and deceptive with their search results.  I really just recently learned about their demonetization scheme on YouTube.  Amazon is getting too big and needs to be broken up.  I'm sure that's coming soon for them.

The thing that I don't like about Amazon is Jeff Bezo's involvement with the Washington Post and how he has weaponized the newspaper against President Trump.  That's just evil and unfair.  I don't like FB and never use it, but I especially don't like Mark Zuckerberg.  He is an uber liberal snob that actually thinks he could run for president one day.  I had to laugh when he went on a bus tour of "flyover country" to learn more about middle America.  He made stops along the way to have dinner with "regular folks".  Lord have mercy on us all if this guy ever gets any power.  Zuckerberg recently hired Hillary Clinton's chief strategist loser, Joel Benenson.  I say loser because his advice clearly didn't work for Hillary.  People like Zuckerberg think they know so much better how we should live our lives and that is the problem.  There's no freedom there.

Its a Goliath problem, but now all the masks are off for all to see.  It may take awhile but the tide is turning on the liberal PC culture.  In the next few years watch the little people start shutting out these Goliaths.  They should be very worried about the Trump Administration.  They are for the little people.

I still use Google and get around anything they do by using more specific search terms.  There are other search engines too.  Amazon is going to have antitrust problems very soon as they try to branch out even more.  Facebook is very embedded, but if they start censoring things too much they'll go down.

IMO, the PC liberal culture is going down.  What we see today are the last gasps of past attempts to limit free speech or contain it in guidelines.  It will be met with fierce opposition that upholds the Constitution.

I love your optimism, JoFrance!

The evil Goliaths are very big and very powerful, not likely to go down without a very bloody fight.  Our generation alone can't bring them down.  Just hoping there are enough young folks who care about freedom.

Didn't he have a house in a carribean country and wanted to knock down a sacred graveyard in order to extend his garden!

A lot of people don't rate the zuck, (A zuck according to google is "a pimple faced little twat who steals ideas for his website and gets billions of dollars for it, not giving any credit for the people he steals from").

I couldn't live without facebook though. Too many people I know simply don't communicate outside of it. Because there is a rule in the post neo liberal world that all communication, especially if it is important and emotionally relevant, must have the pretence of being 'casual' so as to not upset peoples preferred baseline state of non intensity.

I will be interested to see if the emerging free market, crushed though it has been, will be able to rise up and take down some of these monopolies.

Thanks, WBWH, I know it will be a long, tough fight but eventually the Constitution will solve the problem.  All speech is protected, so I can't see how long these social media sites will be able to censor things they don't politically agree with or which they deem as non PC.  We're not Europe, so I expect significant legal challenge.  What they're doing now might have been able to fly under the PC Obama Administration, but it won't under the Trump administration.

Evil Goliaths can be beaten and will be as long as we never give up and keep at it.  Its been proven.  That is how Trump won the presidency and how the people that voted for him beat the "Establishment Uniparty" in this country, against all odds.  When Trump says "I'm just the messenger" he is saying we did it together.  That is MAGA.  It was hard, depressing, frustrating, exasperating; a knock-down, drag-out fight and even in the end the ghost of the PC past looms large.

How long do you think this will last without someone busting a gut?

No one likes ads and we have Ad Block in Google already, but this reminds me of the same tactic employed when the IRS tried to rein in conservative groups.  Cast a wide net so it won't look suspicious when you're trying to take your enemies down.

This just came up coincidentally:

YouTube: Charlottesville: Violence in the Streets | Faith Goldy and Stefan Molyneux

20:35: The Alt right is rising, and if you do not see that, you are asleep at the wheel. The difference between one demonstration, to the other, to the other, you’d be an idiot if you don’t see their numbers. You’d be an idiot if you do not see that the philosophical consistency that is being espoused not just from their spearheads but from many of the [inaudible] so to speak. It’s becoming a more organised and much more serious force, and I think that we will be looking at in the next couple of years basically it being formalised in a more official political way where we’ll see candidates running under these sorts of ideals, ambitions…

Just noticed... and it actually relates to astrology, that James Damore was fired from Google on the lunar eclipse:
