@elsa Yes, it’s an up or down choice once clicked.

@sue-ellen It is apparently showing but non-functional? I am going to remove it because if functioning, it emails people when someone likes/dislikes a post. Can you imagine your inbox flooded with "dislike" emails? Last thing we need around here.

They will fix this in the next release.

@elsa Jana did a like on my comment. I didn’t receive an email.  (Thanks, Jana.)

Another thing though. When logged on, the thumb turns into the statement “you reacted”.  When not logged in it shows “Sue Ellen reacted”. I saw “Jana reacted” when both logged in or logged out.   The name is a HOT LINK to the person’s profile. This is a hot link regardless of whether the reader is logged on or not.  The particular profile page opened shows likes and dislikes both given and received. There is also a rating on the person.  Gee whiz, Jana scored higher than me.  That may cause some people issues…

Having other issues with the database. For example, the author links on the front page (click "elsa" or "satori") pull up an forum error page.

All in all, this is not that bad. They are working on it 'round the clock.

2 things:

I sure hope they fix the ability to see the password when logging on.  Half the time I hit the Caps lock key instead of the Shift key.

The staying logged on is a problem when going from page to page.  Refreshing the new page fixes it. They had that problem on an earlier release, but fixed it.

So far so good, though.

I can see the password now when I log on. Glad for that as I typed it wrong again.

If you click those links, this is what opens:

broken link

So they have tons of things to resolve.

On the "like/dislike", it does send emails (per their documentation) but I have it disabled. The issue is that it still shows the thumb up/down and records something. I have made them aware of this and they promised they will fix it in the next release.

The links to users fix has not been promised yet. I provided those screenshots so they are back to the drawing board!

When this is all said and done, I will organize a list of what people don't like and get fixes if possible. They do work well with users so I'm optimistic.

@elsa Thanks for disabling the emails on the likes & dislikes. Here I use my “want to see” email address. I have a secondary email address for junk mail.

The ability to see the password when logging on is working now.

Thanks for your work on this changeover.

They've updated. The author links from the front page are fixed but still broken. The link to the author's forum profile rather than isolating their posts.

I don't know what else was rolled out.  Well.. I don't see the "thumbs" anymore.

??

@elsa That's a bummer because I really like the thumbs up/down. So many times when I would like to interact but don't have the capacity to put my thoughts into words and type out responses to every comment that I like here. I don't really care about hearts or thumbs but I just like to have a button to click to let someone know that their comment was acknowledged by some person on the internet lol because sometimes that is needed these days.

@cocopeaches I understand but this was discussed prior. People felt the "like" caused people to drive by and "like" rather than post...

@elsa Oh yeah. No biggie. I guess there's always the option to just comment with emojis 🤗

@elsa I do not like the like function. It brings out passive aggressiveness in some people. Not always.

it goes like this:

Person A posts something

Person B does not like person A’s comment so posts a non-direct, passive aggressive response to person A’s comment.

Person B is more popular than person A for whatever reason.

Persons C, D, E, F all “like” person B’s comment causing A to feel unaccepted, unliked.

Person B feels secretly on top.

I hate “likes” at a place like this where we can express so many of our true thoughts without fear of ridicule or condemnation. And where we can all learn and grow from each other and our unique perspectives. It’s not a popularity contest. If I want that I can go to Facebook or Instagram.

@la_sirena Yep, that happens. It splits the community and I hate that.

Right now, there is a lot less hating here... it's on it's way to becoming an oasis away from that.  Slowly! Smile

Links are fixed.

I'm not sure if there are other things outstanding. Is the "last post" thing resolved?
Also, it is me or is it harder to move between forums now?  When viewing one forum, I think there were 1-click links to switch forums (breadcrumbs?).  I asked about this but the issue was not recognized. I wonder if I'm crazy or if I communicated poorly.  In whatever case, is anyone else seeing the navigation here, degraded?

Thanks.

@elsa re: last post, on the main forum menu page I'm clicking on the person's avatar under 'last Post' column and it shows a pop-up 'last reply by..' and jumps to the last comment, so its working on phone and laptop.
