Image result for disco ball

My husband finds himself in a band now. It's not unheard of for him, but the fact I am one of the singers in the band is a stunner.  Because I can't sing.

This happened because my husband was teaching his class about the Holy Spirit which he compared to a disco ball. The light bounces all over.  It gets on everyone. Like music.  He started teaching them a song...

He then came and got me from my class to help the kids with the dancing (more like hand motions), that go with the song. One of the girls said he dad played drums...all the sudden her parents were in there and was the beginning. It came together in an hour!

Since then, we picked up a keyboard player and another guitarist. We've also got a few more kids...and now we have band practice, once a week. It's so much fun.

There are six kids in one family...this is truly the nicest family I have met in my life. Yes! IN MY LIFE. We're going over to their house for the third time this week. They feed us.

They feed us at this huge table, the father made. It's square. It's take up the entire room. It's got to be 12' X 12". at least, Eleven of us sat at it yesterday, comfortably. The father is blind.

"How did you do that?" my husband, asked.

"Do what?" he answered, lol.

I hope our group performs in the Town Square at some point...or in a parade! I'm so glad I got involved in this. it's new, it's different and it's positive! 🙂

We're practicing once a week. I have never been involved with something like this in my life so it's strange, huh? You can be old and still do something new.

Everyone, including the kids down to the 5 year old, is a performer.  This family has a band...the mother and one of the daughter's play trumpets.

Anyway, they are such great kids. Truly.

Make sure someone takes a photo of the band for you, you will love it when you are old.

I love this!  Its a great way to have fun together and it just feels good to sing and dance, even if you stink at it.  My husband's family always had karaoke and dancing at our family gatherings and it was a blast.  I think music helps bring people together.

I bet band practice was never on your agenda, but what the hell, its a new experience.  Maybe you'll find a new part of you.

I hope to grow it to where I can sit down.

I did talk to my hair stylist...I am going to go watch another kids singing group. Apparently there is some guy around here doing a great job with this. I'm going to see if I can learn anything or get some tips.

This is great! It's good for the kids.

When I read "band practice" it took me back to my high school band practice days. I remember marching band practice in the evenings. Today, getting 10,000 steps a day is an effort.  Back then, it would have been lazy.

I told my hair stylist (who is an excellent singer) that I could not sing, play an instrument or dance, yet I was still in a band.

She looked at me, dumbfounded.

"Yeah, I know."
