Uranus in Taurus - your relationship to Earth through food
We all know Taurus enjoys eating. How has your relationship to food changed since Uranus entered Taurus?
Personally I’ve been illuminated by the fact that “eating is an agricultural act,” (Wendell Berry) and I’ve completely changed my relationship with food by becoming a gardener and hunter.
Before Uranus entered Taurus, it transited my 10th house Venus in Aries. That is when I killed my first buck with a crossbow and ate a bite of its raw heart, as per the tradition. This is not the culture in which I was raised, by my husband introduced me to it. (I was raised with some gardening and foraging, and a lot of fishing.) My husband also built me raised beds around that time, and I began a wonderful journey of growing all kinds of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and herbs.
Now with Uranus more than a third of the way into Taurus, I’ve fully adopted this life of growing, hunting, and occasionally foraging, as much of our own food as possible. I've taught myself to can and preserve my harvests. Honestly, I would not be surprised if we are raising livestock 5 years from now. I also see myself being drawn towards herbal medicine.
I have learned to accept that life does not exist without death, and to appreciate and honor death in that regard. With that understanding, I’ve gained an intimacy with the ingredients with which I cook. And yes, the raw heart of a deer was extremely delicious to my palette. There's an element of seasonality and ritual that runs through all of my meals at this point, and I love all of it.
I feel totally confident and at peace with my way of life, and to each their own. Vegan and vegetarian outlooks are more than welcome on this thread.
How do you relate to Earth through food?
This is interesting. Clearly it's played out with food in your case. I see no changes in my life... but money, yes. Values, yes. Self esteem - yes.
Its transiting my 6th house. I have changed my relationship with food. I am eating less, eating more healthy. I have lost 60 lbs in the last year to the fact I got a scare with my a1c. 8.2 its now down to a 5.6. Now I just spend a lot of time feeding my mind instead.
