The Navel - The Seat of the Soul?
The navel is the point of life that connected us in our purest state of unconsciousness (12th house) to our mothers (4th house).
Biologically, gut feelings/instincts are felt in the region of the navel. In Hinduism, the navel is the doorstep of many divine powers and where the Surya (Sun ~ Self in Astrology) Chakra resides. Surya and Manipura Chakra are closely related; the latter also known as the fire in the belly aka gut feel. Chinese medicine call the navel the "Spirit Gate".
"The navel is the center and not the brain" - Lao Tzu
For me it gives new meaning to "the Mind, the Heart, the Soul". When I look at my belly button it's shape strikes me .... for example look at these:
To me, No 6 looks a lot like a fetus ....
Have you ever stopped to look, think about your belly button?
Maybe it changed shape with childbirth or other major life event, like surgery or an accident - did you also change on a Soul level?
What's hidden (12th house) in the navel?
What do you think?
You take navel gazing to a whole different level, Osiris!! Just kidding - I think we are all interested in introspection around here, with Astrology being our favorite tool... I also really enjoy yoga, but don't make as much time for it as I have in the past.
Anyone who has ever been stirred up (or shaken to the core) by a deep camel pose (Ustrasana) knows the feeling of cracking open the emotions that reside at our centers. This posture forces one to bare their soul, and come to terms with deep personal truths. At least that's what I've felt. Could the navel be any more exposed or vulnerable? Cancer the crab is known for having a soft underbelly. *And camels are known for retaining water (emotions in Astrology)
I've got Pluto in Scorpio in my 4th, and Mars in Gemini in my 12th.
Rumor has it 72,000 blood vessels connect to this spot from inside. Apparently the "pechoti" is a thing. Anyone here know more about this?
Do you find that applying essential oils to your navel helps them absorb better?
What about surgeries where they cut your abdomen open? Do surgeons cut around the navel? Have they confirmed the pechoti phenomenon is real?
Lots of questions!
I went up to my husband. "Lemme see you belly button."
"What," he said, ready to lift his shirt. "I want to see if it looks like a fetus."
"I want to see if it's the seat of your soul!"
He grinned and blushed and told me he'd show it to me later.
You're right about Camel, the navel is opened in this position.
I also like heart bench.
Also, I learned today that navel gazing is called Omphilomancy ... interesting!
