How do you all approach the shadow periods? How do you (or do you at all) interpret the shadow of a retrograde vs. the shadow of a direct planet? Seems that retrogrades are talked about, but the shadow less so; wanted to hear impressions and experiences.

In my experience the themes of a retrograde planet do not seem to be wrapped up until it clears it’s shadow. The direct motion in the shadow allows for movement in the areas that the planet transits, but the resolution seems to only happen when those shadow degrees have been transited that final time.

You say 'In my experience the themes of a retrograde planet do not seem to be wrapped up until it clears it’s shadow. My life experiences (since I study and use astrology) have agreed with what you share.

In the past I used to wait, if I could, for the planet to get out of the shadow phase in its direct movement. What a luxury!!

Yet nowaways I mostly get going (if I was able to stall for the retrograde) once the planet is direct as waiting extra weeks for the planet to reach the last shadow degrees can be hard. Hehe, it means things do tend to move slowly and tentatively and I'm always aware that not all information or resources are available...

With Merc retrograde I am always prepared for decisions (mine or other people's) to shift whilst in the shadow period of the direct motion of the planet. Let's see how some of my Merc retro actions unfold in the next weeks... Eat

@cris For me, it seems that retrograde periods, especially Mercury, will literally not let me do anything, no matter how hard I try. Opportunities do tend to present themselves in the direct shadow period though that, if not really true movement, at least lead to some type of substantial movement.

The shadow before the Rx seems to be the strongest for me. Once the planet is Direct, things seem to move on, but yes, not over till it clears the shadow going Direct.

Same here. Honestly, the shadow period BEFORE the retrograde seems to be when things get the funkiest, especially with Mercury and Mars.
