I’m at the tail end of my Neptune square Neptune transit and needless to say, my whole world is out of whack right now. Having trouble with gainful employment, flat broke, housing troubles and having problems with my self identity. It’s all been an embarrassing nightmare I’m still trying to wake up from. So I looked at my transit charts and noticed I have this transit in which began in the spring of ‘21. When I looked on a few sites, it said the transit should be over on Dec. 4th, then another said end of Jan. 22…to be honest, I want it done NOW. But I’m not sure as what date I should depend on, can someone help me rectify this? Thanks!
Looks like Neptune goes stationary direct on December 4. Then direct in January.
It should start to ease.

The best thing to do is learn to read an ephemeris. It shows the degrees each planet moves throughout each year. I'm attaching 2022 and 2023.Find the symbol for Neptune and check the degrees below it, in relation to your natal Neptune degree, and then track them by month, day by day.
If you post your Neptune degree, I will check too.

8th January 2023, transitting Neptune will finally reach 23 degrees Pisces and won't return to 22 degrees again. During his next retrograde period in 2023, he will reach back to 24 degrees, so with this being 2 degrees applying to your 22 natal Neptune, you might feel his influence around middle of Nov to mid December 2023 (but not as intense and prolonged as the actual square you've been experiencing) but then he moves direct and heads off towards the later degrees of Pisces.
@citygirl1980 I'm assuming from what your wrote that your natal Neptune is in Sagittarius at 22*?
@citygirl1980 Transitting Neptune, in other words Neptune in the sky is at 22 degrees of Pisces (sounds like it's transitting your 1st house), but we need to discover your natal Neptune degree. If you were born in 1980, it will be in Sagittarius. Try to post your chart, it's likely its at 22 degrees Sag.
@citygirl1980 Confirmed, 22* Sag natal Neptune. With transitting Neptune stationing at 22* Pisces, you've got a square aspect from transitting Neptune in Pisces to your natal Neptune in Sag, but because you also have Saturn in Virgo at 21* and Venus is Gemini at 16*, you're experiencing a mutable (that's the modality of those 4 signs) grand cross. So, transitting Neptune has also been opposing your natal Saturn and squaring your natal Venus. The set of squares both by transit and those present natally make a giant square shape in your chart temporarily and this can be hard to find a point of release for the energy involved, so it becomes pressurised fog! I'm sure Mars rx isnt helping because being in Gemini and involving those degrees, 16, 21, 22, its part of the grand cross too. You probably don't know whether you're coming or going!
Some of the things you mentioned about making comparisons with others, where they are at in their lives, where you are at, is it how you thought it would be, what have you achieved, etc. These are classic symptoms of the Neptune square Neptune transit. It's a time when you might need to let go of assumptions about your life, make a space for yourself beyond self judgements and comparisons and expectations, in order to discover who you really are, someone quite new and different can emerge in the process. Follow your intuition. However the feelings of inadequacy and impotence are there, but try to see it as a softening, an encouragement to let go and let God. To be taken in new directions, that your ego mind couldn't conceive or predict. The ego will fight the sense of erosion of its dominion over you, but that conflict leads only to more suffering and tension. Be gentle with yourself, especially with things like, "I should be... x, y, z." Instead remind yourself to keep opening to something 'other', that you can't know fully or control life, you might be able to relax into it and enjoy it, at least in moments.

BTW when you are looking at your chart directly on astro.com there's a blue button labelled "+ with transits", it will add the transitting planets in in green around the edge of the chart so you can then see both your natal chart and what is happening in the sky, and pick out the aspects between them more clearly.
@sophiab thank you so much for the reply! It was hard to read, because it’s so true! I guess I’m pressing to make a drastic change with my life. My Pluto is still in the 12th, so I still have that to deal with. But Jupiter goes into my sun sign in May, so I guess that’s my saving grace.

ive had the transit from 2019 until 2021ish. Neptune lifts mists but first he puts veils. I remember that I started having troubles at work. More workload but less salary. I kept going on until a few months , that was in 2019 . When I decided I had to give up my apartment In order to have enough money. Then a year later while Neptune was still squaring Neptune I decided to quit my job. The square was needed to let me see that I wasn’t on the right path anymore. With pain in my heart because it was my first apartment after break up, it really was the best thing to do. As if I was steered to do it. In the long run it was for the best.
me being codependent at the time with absolutely no boundaries, would have gotten myself otherwise in a greater mess.
at the time when I was giving my apartment people came forward with demands like : o I can live in your apartment so that you won’t have to give it up. If I would have done that, i would be ending up paying rent while another person was taking advantage of me.
the other person that also wanted to live in my apartment was my brother, who isn’t responsible either . And also wouldn’t have paid rent.
I would have taken responsibility as I always did but people taking advantage of me.
so you see ? These transits are necessary for you to change things in your life . For me the Neptune square to Neptune was a blessing in disguise.

my Neptune square was between the 6th house and the 3rd house . Work versus mental thinking and house of siblings. I was an employee of my brother . Go figure lol.

aww you are a cancer moon. That’s why you feel extra vulnerable, but your Taurus sun is bringing stability. Please believe me, you won’t feel like this forever.
I wonder at which degree your moon is ? And your rising sign? That’s why I asked for a chart. I’m not an astrologer , but I can help a bit looking at your chart and with my own experiences ofcourse. And Plutolover is right, Neptune dissolves things, but for your own good. At the moment while you are in transits you won’t feel or see it that way. But that transit is behind me so I told you how mine went. My moon is now being punched on by Pluto in a square. And it helps when you find helpful people here on the forum who relate and help.
In my personal experience, Neptune dissolves things slowly. My Neptune square Neptune transit started in 2018 and things started to feel disjointed and a bit surreal. One by one, things started slipping apart, but these were things that were not meant to be in my life. It hurt a lot, losing so much from my life, the worst thing though, was that nobody could understand what I was going through. I mean I would tell them, but they just didn't get it (my natal Nep is in my 12th, being squared in the 3rd).
Like @Dahlia says, you'll get through this! It is a tough and confusing time, but you'll look back from the other side and be able to say 'wtf?!'
Ok I see indeed that Neptune is exact on your Neptune but it’s almost over ! That’s good . And Pluto has been touring your 12th house. That must have been very hard. Dealing with endings of all kinds . But like I said it’s for your own good! When we are in a transit we don’t see it that way. The only thing you want is the pain and suffering to stop. Psychological you are growing , shedding things. And coming into you own power as it was always meant to be.
Neptune won’t come back at the 22nd degree after February. You’ve already had Saturn conjunct your rising sign. When Saturn conjuncted mine years ago , I needed to learn to stand on my own two feet single wise. I thought I did the work. Worked lots of hours a week, taking care at home. Trying to be the perfect girlfriend, the perfect best friend , perfect daughter etc.
But then I was suddenly single after years of relationships, and I had to do it on my own. I was scared at first. But after a year or so , I enjoyed it. And most important I knew I could stand on my own two feet. Not having to need a bf to fulfill my life. I stayed single for almost 6 years and then a new relationship started.
with your rising in Aquarius I tend to think you need your freedom. Are you feeling restrained in some way ? Is there a deep need to break free ?
question yourself honestly! My rising in Libra wanted to be in a twosome. Never learned to be a Onesome (Awesome) and then after the break up I learned. Well first after having my butt kicked. But anyway. .I know now I’m able to do it alone , and when I learned that. My life opened up to love again. I just needed these years single to learn. I’m a Leo maybe too stubborn at first . But o my what a thrill that was.

@carmen thank you for responding! Yes, Neptune has a done a doozy on me. Feeling uninspired, burnt out, and all out anxious about everything. Feeling like I am in the middle of a mid life crisis everyday. The fact I’m still single and not in my dream career/house, no children, but everyone else is excelling. I have 7 planets Rx in my birth chart, I always feel like a late bloomer. Pluto in my 12th has been all about loneliness and isolation x10. I wonder when it will go into my 1st…maybe next year? I’m ready for a new identity! I am proud of your post Neptune sq. Neptune journey! It’s very inspiring and enlightening! I’ve been single for 15 years…yeesh! I swear every year I try to figure out when Mr. Wonderful is going to place himself in my path!
