I've heard other things regarding truckers as well.

*If they don't have the full rig, they may get rejected.

*If high school grads, they don't qualify for much, maybe short distance.

*The regs that limit them on hours allowed to drive.

*And, yes, CA emission standards.

Did anyone read about the opinion piece in the Washington Post about how “spoiled” and “pampered” we Americans are and how we should “lower our expectations” instead of taking our frustration out on overworked staff? How we should get used to these shortages and basically, get some perspective? I couldn’t read the whole piece due to WP’s paywall, but I saw enough from the scathing articles written about it. What a load of condescending, patronizing 💩.

The people writing those articles are usually the least impacted by the issue. They have no idea what it's like  in an area with few stores and more limited options to supply your home.

@jana Yeah, well, they’re going to have a real problem when the “tragedy of the treadmill” becomes the tragedy of people not getting their life-saving medications on time, if at all. Most of them come from China, right? If those medications stop coming in, people will riot.

Exactly! They act like this problem doesn't expand into other products. Also, what about the health clubs that are waiting for treadmills, or the people working at the stores that need product to sell? Or the stores themselves....business is important for crying out loud.

I find the smug, condescending attitude insufferable as well.

@jana Exactly! The American people know there is such a thing as a domino effect. Basic economics!

@notmycircus What a distasteful article bashing Americans. Looks like an attempt to distract from poor leadership that has created this situation and a way to continue trying to make Americans feel shame.

In other news, I had to go to ALDI for pumpkin pie mix because Kroger’s stock is low and you cannot order it for pickup. They also couldn’t get a few items filled on my Kroger pickup order today—but I guess my whining about it makes me a spoiled, pampered American. 🙄

Me again 👋🏻

Not sure if I shared this already or not—I went to Publix the other day for some Gatorade and a few other things. While I was approaching the Gatorade section, I overheard a manager explaining to the stocker how to make the shelves appear more full.

You read that right—appear more full.

He told the stocker that there’s a shortage on Gatorade for now and how to spread out product to make the shelves look stocked.

I don’t think this is specific to Publix. All grocery chains are likely doing this in order to avoid creating a panic, and a run on their stores. But the supply chain SNAFU is national news. It’s not a state secret. We ALL know the shelves are slowly running empty. Can’t hide it anymore.

@notmycircus  My area still has fully stocked shelves for the most part, but I do see things like this happening in other places.

Went to Dollar General today and the paper goods section (tp, paper towels) was overflowing. Overstocked. On the other hand, there was one lonely turkey at the IGA.

@giovanni ha ha. I have been getting dogs to go out in this fashion. The four of them, collectively, are "Brandon".
