My brother is a Leo Merc. Sometimes he will make comments that I find slightly arrogant on the surface (all my Virgo being critical, I'm sorry, but I'm not done yet....). But it's not arrogance. He's confident enough to wonder and state certain things. I like that. But then, again, I am partial.
My own Mercury is in the fifth house. I can talk a lot about myself. And sometimes I do feel like I'm bragging. But when I feel you are putting yourself down unnecessarily, no no no, you deserve better than that and I will tell you!

I had a friend with a Leo Mercury and I was always impressed with her choice of words. She was German and we used to talk in English, and she would always come up with these old-fashioned, literary terms : )) Also she used to put a lot of emphasis in her discourses. Very Leo-ish dramatic! She was a Cancer with Taurus rising by the way.

merc in leo here, square pluto. i am growing out of my subjectivity and solipsism, thankfully.... i can always entertain myself and others though. i'm quick witted and dramatic. very honest.
I have a friend with this. It's conjunct her Jupiter. I concur that it can mean the person communicates in an arrogant way. The thing is, my friend is genuinely odd. I have never met anyone like her, ever, and I firmly believe most people who run across her are hit like this. I think her Leo planets act as a nice balance to all of her intrinsic weirdness, in that they can endear you to her even as you scratch your head and think, "What?"
