- One degree applying and separating for progressions to natal planets or angles

(I've read that the progressed Moon can have 1.5 degrees of orb for applying and separating aspects.)

- For Solar Arcs...from Noel Tyl's 'Solar Arcs' book: "our orb for the arc is really one degree or one year, and we can divide that as six months for the arc's application (very strong) to an aspect with the natal planet or point and six months for the arc's separation (not as strong)."

@lakers248

Yes, 0.5 degree like you say.

The separating 0.5 degree orb phase can be nearly as strong. Some charts respond later to the SA stimulus due to fixity (fixed signs can take longer to change) and especially due to timing (eg. a key transit or progression during the SA separation phase that activates the natal angle or planet being impacted by the Solar Arc.)

I tend to quickly look at the Solar Return in advance to map out a little that year's energies and unfolding of themes but I tend to look at it to complement my looking at my annual profection (profections is an ancient predictive technique.) Sometimes I look at the Solar Return chart to see if it confirms themes that the progressions and transits seem to point to for the year.

Elsa (founder and ownder of this forum/blog) is really fond of both the Solar and Lunar Returns and shares that she closely looks at Lunar Returns (you can learn lots searching for the related threads.)

Lunar Returns point to the themes of a particular month. Solar Returns point to the themes of a particular year.

I'm not great at reading Lunar Returns (an area to work on in the future years.) There are great books written on Solar Returns and Lunar Returns (Mary Fortis Shea, Marion March and Joan McEvers and Celeste Teal cover these topics in books or chapters of their books; there are other authors people in the forum can suggest.)

And ElsaElsa has both Solar Return and Lunar Return charts reports on the shop area. I've purchased a few of them.

If you create a new post or post in old threads on the matters then you can get further help for sure.
