Can someone's natal chart show how someone is empathetic? Or if they possess empathetic abilties?

I would be looking for the water element, either planets and points or water house emphasis, 4, 8, 12.

For general outlook, I would look at both Chiron and the nodes.

Another thought, some people become or just are innately empathic with certain life issues.  As an example, someone may not be at all empathic about marital problems, but they are truly understanding and can provide endless help and support about health issues.

Neptune-moon aspects can have this kind of effect.

Personally I have a Neptune-moon sextile. For me, this involves being in tune with the moods of others sometimes to a fault. We need to retreat a lot and do some productive zoning out. I have a few other placements that involve this sort of thing so I always need extra self care D:

I have Sun conjunct Neptune, north node conjunct my IC, Chiron in Cancer opposite my Sun. Would that give me empathic qualities?

"Empathy" is generally given to Pisces/12th/Neptune, if you're taking it to mean that you feel someone's feeling along with them.  There's no barrier.

Could that apply to Neptune aspecting the luminaries?

@purplestargirl It's probably a gift you just need to learn to master Smile

It's on and off. I can't be around large crowds of people for too long because I end up feeling just drained. And energy vampires and toxic people? I can spot them right away. I don't like being around them either. Too tiring and draining. Other times I just get annoyed with people and their emotional states, because I just don't want to deal with it.

@purplestargirl I don't think sensitivity is a negative thing?

I've had people treat it as such, especially when I was younger and I was called too sensitive by teachers and the like. Even today, people seem to think I'm too kind-hearted as a flaw.

@purplestargirl Being kind-hearted isn’t a flaw. You just have to be discerning in who you gift your kindness to. We can’t rescue every stray cat out there. Sometimes allowing people the chance to figure themselves out of their own messes is the greatest kindness we can show them.

@purplestargirl I said I feel you before, I do Smile As a highly sensitive person, I've had to hear a lot "you're too sensitive" and thought a lot about it. Why do people say this? In reference to what is someone too sensitive? And what if I'm not too sensitive but the other is too harsh? And since when being too sensitive is some sort of a having a weakness/ flaw? All arts are full of sensitive souls... I've decided not long ago that being too sensitive is one of my superpowers because I think it is.

I think being kind-hearted is a precious gem heart

Just imagine if the population of kind-hearted people like this doubled on our planet!! Imagine how much war and fighting would be reduced. We need these people <3

So having Sun/Neptune conjunct isn't a bad thing at all? That's encouraging to hear.

@purplestargirl There seems to be a light and shadow side to pretty much all astrology from what I'm learning. I just looked up sun/neptune conjunct and there was actually some helpful-sounding advice here: https://astrologyking.com/sun-conjunct-neptune/

@rapunzelsoldierfish The trick is to be aware of the shadow side and not ascribe it only to the people we meet. I’ve noticed that people with oppositions take one side and give over the role of the opposing planet to other people. It’s an internalised tug-of-war that’s been externalised.

@estella That's a very straightforward way to describe the oppositions. Those have always been a little mystifying to me

@rapunzelsoldierfish My bestie has oppositions galore, part of a T square. My daughter has a T  square. My son also has two oppositions in his chart.

You could say that I’ve been observing them. 😅

I have Sun as my strongest followed by Uranus as my second strongest. As you recognise that’s Aqua vs Leo. But in my chart, I express both energies, simultaneously. Eg. I can be proud like a Leo and weird like an Aqua at the same time. I can be warm and generous like a Leo and detached and objective like an Aqua.

@purplestargirl Of course it’s not bad. All aspects have their positives and negatives. It’s up to us to choose which to adopt. 😁

@purplestargirl I have my Sun in the 12 house. I have learned to embrace these Neptunian energies and look at hypersensitivity as a gift but also learned especially lately that working on boundaries is to be taken very seriously. I'm still learning and working on it, but I think with Neptune's energy boundaries are needed.

@calliope Need to look to Saturn in your chart to see what boundaries you have with others and how and where they can be employed to allow your altruistic side to function without being taken advantage of.

@purplestargirl, each - any - aspect in our natal charts has the potential to be lived happily.  All, and any, providing that we're living with integrity, as best we can (keeping in mind, striving counts; perfect is a false, inhuman, illusion for us humans).

Me, Neptune aspects most of my chart (yeah really) besides my Sun.  Almost: everything else but.  Funny, huh?  Similar, but flip side, kinda.
