Newbie here with my first forum post!

What in a chart determines how someone responds to stress? I'm wondering if finding something like this may help someone pinpoint a coping mechanism they just haven't grown into yet.

Anything to do with the 3rd house? Maybe the fighting power of Mars comes into play?

Then there's specific aspects...

I respond to stress by tuning out surroundings and daydreaming. This manifests in how I'm constantly humming a song. Multiple things in my chart points to daydreaming. 3rd house Pisces moon, and planets in aspect to Neptune. I also respond to stress by planning a regimen. Distractions and more distractions! Parents divorced? I went on a new diet regimen. Broke up with my BF? Got obsessed with brain training games! Stress of a new career? Read 30 books about said career! My saturn in Cap in 1st house, perhaps?

How do you respond to stress, and what do you think might account for this in your chart?

Are there areas to pinpoint in a chart that may help one to uncover a more suitable way to adapt in this crazy world?

We're all just trying to get to the next sunrise without killing someone. How are you doing it?

Welcome!  These are interesting questions.

I don't think I have a single way of dealing with stress. Stress at what level?

Generally speaking, when I'm stressed, I'll want to talk it out or talk through it. I might also just stay busy. Mercurial coping methods. But if it's bad enough, I just disappear.  It's a Saturn Neptune defense.

@elsa Thank you. I am interested in this because a big part of my work is teaching kids to develop emotional awareness and regulate their emotions. Some strategies work (yoga, deep breaths, positive thinking, venting), and others fall flat.

That's a good question about the level of stress. I was thinking stress in general, but that's true that we can respond one way with chronic daily stress, and another when there's an acute stress situation. Your specific situation shows that very clearly, and I think mine kind of does too. I'll tune out life and daydream when there's chronic stress. I go into hyper-planning mode during the various shockwaves of life.

I have a packed third house. I de-stress by talking to someone, going for long walks, or crocheting.

I think I read somewhere that your first house often shows how you deal with stress.  In my case it's ruled by Scorpio and my Neptune/Moon is there... So, when I'm stressed I retreat to my cave and brood.

Isolation at home! Being alone to recharge and over think everything over and over, I also can stress eat.

But i love working out thats a great stress reliever but if its something extremely stressful I will just lock myself in the house!

Or talk it out with the friends.

Heavy 4th & 6th house placements (being home and over thinking! Ha)

Neptune in the 12th...more isolating! Dreaming, thinking...

I try to avoid things (Mars in Libra) (which is NOT) a goog coping mechanism (you end up with the problem down the line & sometimes worse).

I escape by reading, or distractions, distractions of all sorts.

Also going for walks.

Talking things over with my SO (or do both at once, talking while walking). I think I'd go nuts if I didn't have his help.

My mind is like a pressure cooker (Mercury sextile Uranus) and the no-action Mars doesn't help at all.
