There are online communities trying to get her freed to this day. What kills me, is she could probably get out if she toned it down. That she does not tone it down is the crazy part.

She was a super Catholic. Totally trained to do exactly what she did.

Never heard of her until now, just read a bit about her -- my take is:  ego-centric, manipulative.  It was her choice to marry him, support him, have his children.  Played the self-sacrificing martyr for her own gratification due to some deep-seated self image issues, flipped when her hostage props for that role were removed.

She wasn't poor, why didn't she leave if she felt misused earlier?  He couldn't love her, he could only OWE her -- who can love a self-sacrificing martyr?

Did she have early parental issues?  Seems like she shoved all that self-sacrifice down his throat so when he'd had enough and left she could say, "See, men are bad."

From what I just read, two of her children don't want her out, fear her.

Well I can certainly see why she can't get parole. She can't seem to acknowledge any responsibility or remorse for her actions. If he was abusive? She could have left. He was cheating on her? She could have left. Him cheating with his assistant and hurting her feelings does not give the right to end their lives. Feelings can change, you can heal, you can remove yourself from a person or situation, but you can't come back from the dead!

All I hear is her playing victim in the interviews, but she was not victimized to the point that she had no other choice but to take two people's lives. The fact that she can't seem to realize that, even after all these years, is disturbing.  I always find it a big red flag when someone can't apologize or admit their mistake, or acknowledge where they went wrong too. That's sociopathic .

Her chart is a powerhouse, and I could definitely see marking for abusive behaviour with an easily wounded ego. She's got a Saturn/Mars/Pluto conjunction squaring her Sun, that doesn't exactly scream innocent submissive housewife to me. Also noting Neptune on her Sun/Moon midpoint, which is probably why she has no qualms playing victim and delusional about herself.

Obviously, her husband doesn't sound like a great person either, cheating on his wife and breaking apart a family...  but he is not here to defend himself or tell his side of the story, and again, none of this justifies murder. By that Oprah interview, it sounds like ultimately, it was a power struggle between them; who dies first; who destroys the other one first. Mars square Sun, her anger is working against her and hurting her, being her own enemy, through her unrelenting stubbornness and pride.

I agree with Strawberry. Natal chart packs a ton of negative energy.
Betty Broderick grew up with 4 other brothers and sisters. Her father
provided luxury goods but she was not nurtured or loved by her parents.
Her mother never bonded with her and she could not rely on her parents
for affection or support. She was encouraged to marry well.

Betty Broderick did not profess to love her husband, and stated that
she was considering leaving him right after her honeymoon. She
ended up pregnant and pregnant again so she stayed. Her husband
was a workaholic who was largely absent from the house. When he
was home, Betty often locked him out and showed much anger
toward him. Betty was chronically angry and bitter toward her
own children, and they feared her. Betty's husband was bewildered
about her chronic anger, so he stayed away most of the time and
tried to ignore her. Betty's own parents had little to do with her
and so Betty was mainly left alone to fester her anger and her
unpredictable mood swings.

At home, Betty would physically destroy the house interior in
fits of rage. Betty's husband probably would have just let her
keep the house and buy his half out for the divorce, but Betty
would not accept anything her husband offered, no matter how
generous and fair. Betty's husband resorted to punishing her
financially by documenting and legally withholding payment
by fining her whenever she disobeyed lawful contact order.
Betty dragged the divorce case thru the courts for 5 years,
protesting anything and everything. She fired all of her
lawyers and she contested every single detail.

When the divorce was finalized, she was receiving 9k a
month from him, then increased to 12k a month by court
order. She was given a house, a car and she had at least
two professional licenses to use if she wanted to return to
work. She even met a nice guy who moved in with her. It
was not enough, she continued to terrorize and harass her
ex husband any way she could. 7 months after he was
married, she committed the murders and she even went so
far as to disconnect the phone when her dying husband
reached for it to call for help.

I do not feel sorry for Betty Broderick at all. I think she
is criminally insane and impossible to rehabilitate. I
think she is textbook psychopathic, and she will never
take personal responsibility for anything. I think she
has gotten away with her behavior largely due to her
unusual cherubic appearance. Her husband tried to
reach out to Betty's parents for help early on. Betty's
parents wanted nothing to do with her, they basically
cut ties with her after her marriage. When Betty was
divorced they visited one time and left immediately
the day after Betty was temporarily admitted to a
psychiatric hospital. They refuse interviews and
have cut off all ties to their daughter and this family.

I believe Betty Broderick's parents created a monster
and the anger inside that monster festered from a
lack of proper mental health care and an all access
pass to get away with her rage until it was too late.

She says she never planned to kill them and it was not premeditated. Why did she drive to their house with a gun and enter while they were sleeping, after harassing/stalking her ex-husband for months? I'm sure she broke into their house for some good intent.

She got off pretty well in the divorce: $16k a month alimony, job, nice house, 2 cars.

After the divorce, it should've been over. She had a new boyfriend, too.

But she had to win at all costs. She couldn't move on. Because she had to win, she lost.

While I'm sure a lot of people can relate to her -- I can relate to her, she's nuts. There's a difference between thinking and actually doing.

I wonder if the new boyfriend was spared from dying from a future perceived or actual slight.

A lot of people in jail believe they're the victim.

I remember watching a fictional Femme Fatale movie. This woman kept choosing abusive husbands, killed all of them, and got away with it.

I can fully understand why she did it.  Her Scorpio husband was intentionally driving her insane.

As the wife of a double Scorpio, i know full well what they are capable of.  When you give them the power, they can drive you insane.  Her biggest mistake was giving him her kids. He had too much on her to twist around and make her seem crazy.  Which only made her act more crazy.   She should have just amputated.

the thing that really made me decide how bad and cruel she is, despite understanding her plight, is that she forgot all about her children. She didnt care about them anymore, it was all about her revenge for that man, and that new hussy. I saw how she was disrupting her child's graduation party by taking photos of the new woman and everyone was shocked. her child was even so ashamed during her graduation. She couldnt stop herself, not even for her children. they lost both a father and mother long ago. If only she was able to just open her eyes and love again, that her children's love is more important than some man who obviously was very incompatible with her.

Hahaha I have her exact positions. Scorp with the Virgo Venus Jupiter bit.

I just read up on her seeing this post and I totally understand her actions. I also realise how she was practically raised to be the perfect wife. She did everything right in life (religious, decent education, supported her husband) and her marriage still went sideways. She never realised that she didnt need to be perfect. And that other people arent as well. Very hard lesson to learn especially after being backstabbed by the very person you gave it all for.

i read another site that went also in depth, and seemed to know more about the relationship between betty and dan at hubpages, and it states that Dan didnt want to give up Betty because of the long term marraige, and the children, ect. but the new woman (who strangely looks like Betty when young) was fighting for Dan. Dan even told Linda that she should find another man to date, not go for him because he was still wanting to be with Betty. But for some reason, Linda saw a goldmine in Dan Broderick because Dan gave her everything -- basicaly gave her power. She didnt even know how to type or do any secretarial work that others go to school for, and pay college for, and she got it all handed to her. Even a bigger office. She realized that no man could compare to Dan, and no man would give her so much. she wanted that more than anything so she fought for him to divorce his wife. She was a true homewrecker. If only Betty fought for her husband if she truly wanted him and fought that homewrecker before he was already deep into the relationship with the Linda character.  Linda got all the power. It seemed that Betty realized too late and just destroyed everything assuming that all is nice and good in the broderick family when it wasn't.

Edit - if you think about it, if you give power to some women, they want it all and are greedy for it. So in Dan's case, he was in the wrong for even giving that young woman a chance, and she should have worked for it up the ladder like everyone else in the office should. But he saw her cause she looks very similar to Betty Broderick when a young woman, and that Linda woman was a predator. She didnt seem to care that Dan was married and had children. So it's everyone's fault.

Wow, what a story. Didn't know about this.

But it's very interesting to see the different pros and cons.

Still, killing is not a good idea. I think that makes the difference between angry people and psychos. Lots of angry people, but (luckily) not that many psychos.

Imagine if all the pissed off wives & husbands bumped off their spouses! A horrible vision. It would renew the mating market, but.....?! OMG

Well said Satsun, her anger was justified, but the murder wasn't. At some point, you have to take responsibility for your own emotions and your life again. She wouldn't let go, and that's her Scorpio I would think or all her fixedness. On the positive, this trait manifests as their loyalty, on the negative... well, this. Holding on to a grudge forever.

No man or woman owes you their life. No matter what you did for them or how much you loved them, you cannot keep them a hostage or prisoner and kill them over it.

As much as I feel her for, I will never think she was free from blame, everybody in this story had their share of it.
