Hi all! So i have Mars, Moon, Saturn in the 8th house and my Mercury also there but is very near the cusp of my 9th house, which I am not sure if I have to consider to be in both. I have read that that combination of those planets being in the 8th house is a very malefic combination and speaks for a big trauma or even abuse. To be honest I haven’t had the best childhood and my teenage years were not easy either, for reasons different than just hormones…but I have never been abused and can’t really say I am that traumatised. Forgot to say that those planets are in pisces. So my question is…is it really that bad to have all those planets in the 8th house (I’m especially scared about saturn and mars) and is there any aspect that can maybe make it less or more malefic?

Hey, I’ve 8th House Stellium too. Sun, Jupiter, Mercury all conjunct then Saturn at 27, all Virgo. Also the North Node but in Leo.

Just wanted to say 8th house isn’t a bad place in my experience. Just means you go deeper than the average person. But I’ve only really started embodying it after my Saturn return (age 30) not sure of your age but maybe if you’re younger than 30 you just need to ride it out and it’ll feel more comfortable after your Saturn Return xxx

Well I’m 26 and Saturn is the planet I definitely feel as i was in debt even before i was 18 thanks to my parents. I have always had to be in a fight even for the smallest things, which was not happening to the people around me. I’m aries so fighting for myself has never been a problem, just always there have been like a dark fog around me…Thank you, I really hope it is as you saying!

Hi Eleonora,

I wish I was astrology intuned, at 26, to be asking this question, eleanora. I have Mars-Saturn (and Pluto in the 7th) in Stellium all in Leo. This stellium squares another stellium with my Sun, Mercury, Chiron in Scorpio. I was born into a home and culture that ‘requires’ deep exploration and no simple or surface explanations for complexity. It is not an easy journey but it has strengthened me over my 72 years. Squares as I was taught many years ago mean I have to finesse, fine-tune the way I manage situations … like a carpenter building a table. The legs and table top have to be ‘in square’ to make the table (or your life situation) ‘work.’ It takes time and practice.

You asked what angles or aspects might make these 8th House challenges easier. My experience has been my Uranus (in Gemini 6th House) sextile to the Mars-Saturn combo. Sudden or revolutionary moves and changes to a heavy or opposing situation has been my way to transform; over and over again! I also look to Jupiter (the antidote to Saturn as Elsa once put it) to add some glide and grace to the Mars-Saturn and Pluto stellium.

You’ve found a place to safely explore your options, make the most of it and look for any trines or sextiles that aspect your 8th House. Good luck!

Great words!
Hard journeys makes us stronger!

I do have Jupiter trining my Saturn and my chart is mostly full of trines, which might be making the situation a bit lighter.

Thank you for your comment! 🙏

Glad to know it rang for you. Yes, trines help a lot with the Saturn stellium. All work and no play makes Saturn wrinkle:)

My late husband had his mars , saturn, moon and neptune in the 8th house in virgo.

I dont think he was physically abused but his Mom left him with strangers several times in his childhood. Last time they were living in a hotel she was working for . He was about 13 .She just up and left him there. His coach was going to try to get custody but he eventually went back to his Dads.

Now he did endure being a foot soldier in northern Vietnam during the war. He was only 18 years old. I cant imagine being in a more hell like environment .

I dont know how to answer any of your questions. Hopefully you will have a long peaceful life.

Where have you read ? I think that people just in general are afraid of 8th matters, because they associate it easy with death…

So no matter what planet is there, it always brings some fear and doubt.

I have Venus and Mercury in 8th and even a benefic like Venus has its dark sides here, that’s all I can tell you. I keep exploring my Venus all the time and I’m a bit afraid of it, sometimes I’m also tired of its intensity – surely Venus in 8th can bring something that I call “weird” attraction.

Mercury in 8th can be very depressing, pessimistic.

I have never seen luminaries in the 8th house negatively…Sun in 8th is a very valuable placement, I think it looks similar to the Moon.

Yes, it’s true that Mars and Saturn in the 8th house have bad press. I always look at everything both ways – so I believe that Mars can give both violent death for some people and great physical and mental strength for other. I also believe that Saturn in 8th can give long life and mental maturity, maybe it’s a placement for “old souls”?

Are your Mars and Saturn conjuncted?

What you wrote… That your whole life you feel dark fog around yourself – I believe it works this way, and it is certainly the influence of the 8th house… Steliums is such a huge energy and 8th house itself… Since I feel it with two planets in different signs, I don’t even want to imagine what it looks like in stellium. This intensity can be really tiring and overhelming.

I’ve heard bad things about Mars and Saturn in conjunction, but it probably depends on the signs as well. Can you give me more details ? Then I will write you how this energy manifests itself in people I know.

Hi! My Saturn does not aspect any of the planets, although my moon conjunct both my mars and Mercury and Mercury conjunct Mars, all in pisces.

I certainly believe there are many benefits from placements in the 8th house, but my pessimism is telling me that one thing does not exclude the other. All the people I know that are having planets in the 8th house are somehow broken because of horrible traumas… but in the end energies are complex and I suppose it also depends how fast you learn what those energies are trying to tell you.

Hi, me too on the 8th house stellium (Saturn, Venus, north node, sun, mercury, and Jupiter at cusp). Never been abused but parents fought a lot so it was a pretty intense existence for some time as a kid. I think I’m maybe more serious than some? Thanks to Elsa’s investment in tagging posts you can easily search for blog posts on 8th house and read her insights. One thing I have taken from this blog is that aspects are not good or bad but can be used well or poorly. I hope I’m not butchering that too much!

My sister has a stellium inside her 8 house, Saturn included. She is very deep and wise. Younger than me, but much wiser. I see the 8 house as a very powerful transformative energy… after all it is Pluto’s territory and Pluto is transformation and healing through this process.

There are many bad description of other houses too… and I personally have a chart full of planets in houses that scared me in the beginning. If you look at things as transformative energy and that this transformation is in your power, you will be able to use the gifts you were given to heal and empower yourself.

Much love and light heart
