I have my Jupiter return happening now in Capricorn. This is supposed to be a big event because I have Sagittarius rising and my Jupiter is in my 1st house. I really don’t know that much about Jupiter returns. Maybe you would want to share something about this with the collective. Oh and by the way I don’t mind expanding but golly gee am I gaining weight.
The main thing I can tell you about Jupiter returns is that people are generally disappointed with them mostly because they expect to win the lottery and have bounty fall from the sky which almost never happens as this is not Jupiter style. For example, you need Uranus involved for a sudden windfall like that so expectations like that are completely misguided. Basically unless you have a Jupiter Uranus aspect in your chart you are barking up the wrong tree.
Jupiter has to do with the FUTURE. It has to do with expansion and opportunity but how many people take advantage of of chances (another Jupiter ruled thing) when they are on offer, hmm? Not that many.
Now for you personally, with Jupiter in Capricorn you are going to get no benefit at all without working (Capricorn). In other words you are responsible for making your own luck and on the weight gain, well it’s classic.
Most people do gain weight when Jupiter crosses their ascendant and transits their first house and you’ve got two ways to address it.
You can find another outlet for the energy, for example – outdoor sport, or you can apply a Saturn remedy. Saturn (restriction) is the natural antidote to Jupiter (expansion) – That is you will have to exercise control over what you eat. Boring, I know but what can I say?
So what good are Jupiter returns? Well you are starting a 12 year cycle of luck and opportunity but the benefits occur in the future not in the moment. A good analogy would be the idea of a college education (another Jupiter ruled thing). It is worth more 12 years after the fact than it is when you are getting it.
Anyone else have experience?
