Voice of Mars On The Mechanics Of Attraction

“You do whatever you want. Go anywhere you want, the soldier said. “Wherever your life takes you, don’t worry about me because I’ll find you, P. Where you are doesn’t matter because wherever you are, that’s where I am going to head.”

“Why? Why is that?”

“Well this is going to sound corny, but…” he started to sing, “You are the magnet, I am steeeeeeeeel”

I burst out laughing. “Okay, well that’s funny. That makes me totally amused,” I said with a snort.

“Well that’s fine. I’m glad you’re amused but this is the situation here. You’re a magnet and I’m these bits of steel and I am going to nothing but follow you wherever you go. I just can’t help it, it’s a law of nature, steel will always follow a magnet.”

Two weeks ago

“How do you know you’re not a magnet and I’m steel?” I asked. “I am attracted to you aren’t I? I am massively attracted to you… I’m attracted like a freak.”

He laughed. “No, hell no. You’re the magnet, P. I don’t attract anybody. Nobody but you wants anything to do with me,” he said. “Yeah, you’re attracted to me but you’re the only one who is.”

“That’s ridiculous.”

“It’s not ridiculous. I’m not a magnet. People aren’t interested in me, P. No one is. They’re interested in you though. You’re the magnet, P. I’m the steel. I know you’re attracted to me but you’re the only person I can attract. You on the other hand can attract all kinds of steel. Steel comes to you… it just flies right to you everywhere you go.”

No response.

Yesterday

“Well, P, I’m trying to get there as fast as I can because I know everyone who sees you wants you. They all want to know you.”

“Oh, they do not. Okay, some of them do but it’s only for a minute. They want to know me right up until they do know me. Once they know me they can’t get out fast enough. It’s an illusion of me they want. Some hologram. But once they get a load of my actual self they’re pretty much uniformly repulsed. I get sick of it. If you don’t like me leave me alone in the first place.”

“That’s not it. People aren’t repulsed. That’s not what happens, P. People get near you find out you are even more than they expected or thought you were and then they can’t hold on.”

I didn’t answer because I was pouting about being repulsive.

“P, they can’t hold on but I can. At least I think I can. I think I can do it because I’m pure. I’m pure steel, P and the rest of those guys?”

“Yeah?”

“Well they just want to use you…”

I laughed. This is his new tag line. He’s taken to telling me the whole world wants to use me, he’s the only one who loves me and I should listen to every word he’s saying…. 🙂

“Anyway, P, this is what I’ve come up with. I think I may be the only one in the world who can hold on to you and if I can, well I think that’s the reason.”

“You’re steel?”

“Yeah. I’m steel and I’m pure. Anything less than pure steel… any other junk mixed in there and you’re going to shake ’em right off.”

“Oh my God,” said an overwhelmed Venus Neptune. “I don’t think I want to know anymore, do you mind? I don’t really want to be involved with a genius. It’s hard on me when I’m trying to sleep. Can I just sleep through this?”

Do you think this is how attraction works? Are you magnet or steel?

  1. Yes, I’d agree that that is how attraction works…as for myself, I’ve been both the magnet & the steel…couldn’t say which predominates, tho’

  2. I think most of my life I’ve been a magnet convinced it was steel. No more. I decided to turn my Scorpio vortex on high and be the supernova magnet I’ve always been meant to be.

  3. Magnet, definitely. And I don’t know how the repulsive thing works but I’ve got that too. I like the soldier’s pure steel analogy. I think I’ll use that from now on.

  4. i believe i am a magnet – my entire life, people almost always approach me, sometimes unknowingly.

    i secretly attract people.

    6th house mars in scorpio.

  5. LOL, what Marc said.

For my husband I tone the magnet thing down, but on occasion it’s still nice to remember that I’ve got it.

  6. Im think im confused. I thought when reading the this post I was the steel but Im not sure now. I have a scorpio sun, 8th house stellium and pluto conjunct venus so I guess I actually should be a magent. I think im being confused by my Mars-Neptune conjunction. I like the idea in this post of steel and magent but I dont think this applies to me, like I said Im confused

  7. Did you say that you had a first house neptune, Elsa? Maybe that’s the magnet thing – making you seem irresistable, addictive etc. But also making you hard to grasp, too much to handle at times and a bit strange and otherworldly somehow…? I doubt they’re repulsed, just freaked out and overwhelmed at how little of you they can easily comprehend.
Then again maybe those guys were just lightweights and it takes a heavyweight like the soldier to pin you down 😉

  8. Thank you, Fey. I don’t have a 1st house Neptune. I have Neptune on the midheaven square Venus. And I do think people try to form a relationship with the person they imagine me to be and when the veil drops… well crap. There I am and they don’t like it.

  9. I have Neptune conjunct Ascendant, which does make me a magnet for some men. But it’s also opposite Mars, so I prefer to chase my own fantasy guys instead. It gets to be a ridiculous Benny Hill scene sometimes.

  10. black holes and baby universes. stars and galaxies and meteors and planets and spiraling orbits.

    that’s what i see 😉
    gravity

  11. I don’t know what the hell I am.

Neptune conjunct Ascendent: Ugh. Projections. Why can’t they just get to know me?

Mars in the first house: Bloodlust for the chase is what I enjoy.

Venus square mars. In the end it all gets f**ked up anyway.

    Happy almost V.Day all. 🙂
