Voice Of Mars: “I Don’t Want To Be In Charge”

koolaid5b.jpgThe soldier came home, he’s been 2 weeks on the job. “They left today (the two bosses) and told me I was in charge. I told them, I don’t want to be in charge.”

I laughed. “I don’t want to be in charge?”

“Yeah, that’s what I said.”

“What did they do?”

“They left and I was in charge. Nobody was very happy about it,” he added.

“I imagine. You’re the new guy. But you are the one who knows everything so you are the right person to be in charge.”

“But I don’t want to be in charge.”

“Why not?”

“Because if someone does something, I’ll have to kill them,” he said.

I snorted. “Kill them?”

“Yeah. You put me in command and nothing’s going to happen while I’m on the post.”

I just smiled and gave him his kool-aid….. er… his crystal light, I mean.

“Thanks, P,” he said, gulping it down.

  1. I don’t like being left in charge either but it’s probably good for me cos I enforce boundaries for others that I wouldn’t do easily on my own. if you leave me in charge I will kick ass. I am often left in charge.

I’m often put in charge by my superiors, but rarely by my peers. Saturn in Leo square Midheaven in Scorpio.

  3. I keep getting calls to Be In Charge of late. I am not happy about it. People wrangling is NOT my joy in life. And yet I am getting the “if you want it, YOU have to be in charge of it” going on. I already had to co-lead a group I’m in for five months while the leaders were out of the country.

It’s looking more and more like the volunteering job I’ve been doing for about 4 years and adore may be ending (I don’t fit the demographics that the higher-ups now want for volunteers, and they are cutting staff in half to boot). The day-to-day management people like me and are trying to sneak me in still, but come fall this may not be doable any more. People have been trying to get me to be an instructor for years, but I’m a terrible teacher (retrograde Mercury in Aries- I’m too fast and too weird and nobody knows what I am talking about) and have been saying I am unsuited for the job. I know I am. But now if I don’t start teaching there, I may end up leaving the place entirely because it’s expensive to use if you are not an employee/volunteer (they cut the discounts for all non-students as well. I really loathe the higher-ups that took over). So I am going to have to suck it up and start teaching. Ugh…
