Would You Marry Someone With Saturn In The 7th House?

Planet stories love“Hey Elsa, All else being equal, how would you feel about marrying someone with Saturn in the Seventh?”

Boy, that’s a good question. The traditional interpretation of Saturn in the 7th house (or any other Venus Saturn exchange) is that relationship are burdensome. There are other manifestations of course. People marry older partners, controlling partners, the marriage is a business deal; I could go on and on. Whatever the case, some restriction is a given.

Now before you go swearing off anyone with a Venus Saturn exchange in their chart (or stabbing yourself if it’s you with Saturn in the 7th) just consider the alternative. How would you like a partner with no restrictions, hmm? How about he or she runs amok all over the land? Sound any better? I don’t think so.

I faced this head on when I decided to marry my husband. There was tremendous impediment that we’d have to overcome if we were to be together. There would be long delay of gratification but just in general, he had a hard life in many ways for many.

I have a hard life as well but his is even worse. I talked openly about this with my friends. I understood that it I opted to hook up with him I would inherit his problems and hardships. I would assume all his burdens and there were a long list of them. Further, one look at his chart and it’s pretty clear it will always be this way, so what to do?

I thought about it, long and hard. I felt about it very deeply until I came to a decision. I opted to make a very serious commitment, to myself and to him.

To answer the question, I would (and I have) married someone with a Venus Saturn signature in their chart and I have a Venus Saturn signature myself. I’d caution anyone to follow suit unless they had certain qualities.

For example, if you don’t have a certain level of maturity, you’re going to be in big trouble with your Saturnian partner. If you want to live in la la land, the person with Saturn associated with Venus is going to mess you up big time.

On the other hand if you want real (Saturn) love (Venus), the conscious Venus Saturn person has it to give.

I’m not sure that people want real love. They want a movie or an adventure or a fling. Maybe they want some danger or to piss off their mommy by dating or marrying you. Consequently Venus Saturn and their “real love” goes begging.

So that’s me, what about you?

Would you marry someone who brought a burden to the relationship?

  1. I have Saturn square Venus. Saturn is in my 7th house and Venus in my 4th exactly conjunct my mars. UGH! I am 50. I have been married twice and both were short lived. Both of those men turned out to be theifs. Seriously both of them and both went to prison for it. I was married 16 years apart. I had no part in their acts and they went to prison after we were no longer together but…it is what it is. The best and longest relationship I had was with a man that was 18 years older than I. 8 years long and we lost him to pancreatic cancer. He offset my Saturn/Venus square with a nice trine from his Mars. Our Suns were conjuct and his venus was an exact trine to my moon and our moons trined. We never married however. I feel the pain and have suffered tremendously with my curse. Honestly I was always faithful. I was the provider (financially because I am educated and successful) so I am not sure what “burden” I brought to the table. Other than my inability to not be swindled twice.

  2. I married a man with Saturn in the seventh and he married a woman with Saturn in the seventh – me! Actually, my Saturn conjuncts the Descendant from the end of the sixth – same thing.

We are very responsible in the duties of marriage and sometimes it feels like we don’t have much fun. How much fun can you have, though, when you have a house and are raising children, and you work?

Still, he’s a Cancer and I’m a Virgo with a 4th house moon and there is a lot of love.

  3. Can you tell me a little about Saturn in the 7th house retrograde?
Planet = Saturn. Sign = Taurus. 7 degrees 16 minutes. 7th House. Retrograde.
Thank you for your help with this.

  4. I would if they appreciated me. I’ve recently come to realize that that’s what I need more than anything.

  5. Saturn in the 7th- many marriages and LTRs. People still carrying a torch. But maybe that it’s Pisces makes it more lovey dovey, less harsh. Or it seems so…lol

Does not mean loneliness or singledom necessarily. In fact, attracting a relationship is never a worry. Wanting it , at the moment, is the question. But nobody should lose hope! I think you have to be aware that you might be serious about commitment and don’t really want flings. If that little detail gets lost in your relationship, it’s probably going to bite you in the kiester at some point.

    Know thyself . ?

  6. I have Saturn square Venus, and my husband of 33 years has Venus in Capricorn. Most others would have split with the challenges we have faced in our relationship, but during the times of crisis when I’ve been on the verge of leaving, we always seem to loop back to our love for and commitment to each other and the family. Extremes of heartache and joy along the way. I have often wished that love could be easier!

It depends on the what the burden is. I have Venus in Capricorn in the 12th house squaring Saturn in Gemini in the 4th.

  8. I have Venus in Virgo at 25° (in the 8th) and I have a Jupiter/Saturn conjunction in Libra. Where Jupiter is at 6° Libra and Saturn is at 8° Libra (with both in the 9th). Would this count as having Venus conjunct Saturn? Jupiter? If so, how do you think the Jupiter’s conjunction to Saturn might later the flavor of Venus’ conjunction to Saturn? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  9. My husband has Venus inconjunct Saturn. We both have Venus in Gemini in the 7th. We’ve been married for 28 years. The relationship has gone through a ton of transformation along with ourselves. Definitely not for the weak at heart. 🙂

  10. I have Saturn in Capricorn in the 7th house conjunct my DC which squares my Venus in Libra in the 4th house. I don’t necessarily feel my relationships are burdens I just feel like it’s harder to find a partner that will be as committed to building a life together as I am. I need someone who is reliable and loves me for me as I would them. Saturn in the 7th is serious about their relationship and wants someone who will stick around through the good times and the bad times. I’m a Scorpio with my sun in the 4th house and most of my other planets are in Capricorn in the 6th. My Mars is in Gemini in the 11th very close to the 12th and its funny to watch myself act when I do meet someone who holds my interest because I become so talkative and willing to go out more to please them (Venus in Libra) it’s almost as if my mission (Mars) is to find my life partner (Saturn) as those are the only two planets that are in the Southern Hemisphere of my chart, both of which are on opposite sides it almost looks likes my Mars is chasing my Saturn or vice versa. Anyway, Saturn in the 7th should not be feared, but more appreciated because despite whatever difficulties may come with it it will be person whom you can trust and rely on no matter what. Those people just may be more difficult because they hope to find someone who would do the same for them.

  11. I have Jupiter in the 7th, but almost anaretic 28.5, and Venus cap in 2nd house, sextile Nep , trine Uranus/Pluto on Midheaven.
Typically, there was much opposition and obstacles to my marriage,I was 28 when I met him and he was 59, plus I am from Spain and he’s Dutch.
Today, he’s 81 and I’m 50, and although there are some things I have to do alone (going to the beach, he hates it; we sleep alone,he’s still a great traveller/driver but I’m starting to go on trips alone or with friends) I can’y call him a burden (yet) It’s more a fear in my mind, and that anxiety about the future causes ME to be the burden for him.
We have a cat and a dog, but sometimes I get blue at the thought of not having kids, estranged from my own family (little nephews) as I am.

  12. I have Saturn in 7th conjunct Jupiter so I also want freedom, growth, maturity. Too much to ask for sometimes.

  13. I have a 7th House Virgo Venus squaring my 11th House cusp Sagittarius Saturn. I vascillate between wanting my freedom to pursue my dreams (11th House Sagittarius) on my terms (Saturn) and finding fixer-upper (Virgo) men for an intimate relationship (7th House Venus). Transiting planets heavily influence this aspect. Need to learn balance and reasonable boundaries – Libra Sun and Libra NN. It ain’t easy.

  14. My partner of almost 8 years has Saturn sextile Venus. Steadiest partner I’ve ever had. We also have Moon-Saturn conjunct in Libra in our composite chart. My own Venus is conjoined Pluto and sextile Neptune. Maybe I had to get over all that those aspects entail first (all the drama and illusions) – I met my partner when I was 50 years old.

  15. My Cancer Venus in 10th trine Scorpio Saturn/moon in 2nd. I’m hypnotically drawn to and always taking care of whoever I’m with by nurturing their self worth and emotional needs while depleting my own reserves and my own self esteem. I’m the big mama taking care of big babies. I feel like that’s all I’ll ever attract. I’m burdensome because I become a big baby when my emotional needs aren’t met. Cancer Venus cries all the time. I don’t think a human being would want to handle all that crying.

  16. Venus in Capricorn really does feel like a rock at times. I know that forever love exists but I would never bet on it. Things can change and nothing is guaranteed.

That’s my Venus talking. But I don’t know it any other way so I don’t really get down on it too often.

  17. I have neptune and saturn on my 7th house in the sign of capricorn, both opposing my sun in cancer in the 12th house. My venus is in cancer and I need some love and affection. but.. I’m afraid to marry. But I am in love with a man who wants to marry me. We are suppose to get married next month. There’s a lot of, “what if’s” What if he cheats, what if I’m not seeing him for who he is clearly, what if he changes after we get married. I’m terrified. I feel so unlucky.

I think relationships are hard, period. So if you are to have saturn anywhere i think the 7th house is not so bad.also it is accidently exalted in the 7th.
I have saturn in capticorn in 7th which is part of grand cardinal cross. Since 2008 ive been dealing with effects of pluto hitting this cross, kinda like doing a few rounds with mike tyson.its done,i lost my marraige of 24 years, about to lose my house. But guess what? Im still here? I also think it will make my second saturn (coming up)return look like a walk in the park.

Omg I’m doomed Saturn rx 7th house Taurus … my poor boyfriend of 7 years…he’s a saint and very patient w me and I always seem to put the blame on him when now I see it’s actually me !!! I wish I would of learned about this years ago I could of been so much more aware and well adjusted by now , maybe lol … now I know why he hasn’t popped the question and I don’t blame him w all I am learning and becoming aware of …thank you … much love and light ♥️?♥️

  20. I have saturn(scorpio)+ pluto(scorpio) square my descendant(7th house in leo) & my adcendant(1st house in aquarius), how would this affect my relationships/partnerships?

I am a 8th house sun btw? lol
Ive always been curious at the type of man & personality I would attract?????

    Any feedback

  21. Hi i have saturn in 7th house in leo, i am married for 11 years have two children my partner has aquarius in ascendant, venus in libra and saturn in 12 house. I am 40 years old, will our marriage work.

  22. Saturn in 7th (Cap rising) + Saturn conjuct Venus 7th (Cap). 11 years together, not married. When I told him about thinking of breaking the relationship he said: “That’s not good, but I am here for you until you figure out”. It was a year ago. He is constant as gravity. Amazing. I’m not bad either. Took care of both of us after his businesses bankrupcy.

  23. Wow. Thank you so much for digging this one up, Elsa. I’m fairly new commenting on here and even reading the blog (a regular since jan this year), although I’ve come across references to you/it before. I’ve mars 1st opp sat 7th (scorpio). Ouch 1. Ouch 2: Im sun 1st opp pluto 7th (scorpio). Ouch 3: south node scorpio 7th. Plus a venus 12th (conj merc) sq neptune 9th. Id say i feel you and your husband there. I just look at my taurus NN and feel like weeping. It’s like i die of love without someone to share life with, and then/until i find love then it is a nightmare cause they wont let me be me and test me (and hurt me) till i have no alternative but go. Severe penalty it feels like… but then enters god in 9th… you talk about transcendence… boy i try. Some days easier than others..but the void keeps haunting… thanks again. Sending my love from portugal.

  24. I have Venus square Saturn in 5th H. I will stand by you whatever. The harder your situation, the more resilient I become. I realise this might annoy some people, but if you’re in A&E (ER) or dying, I will be there to ease your pain and make sure the hospital is doing it’s job.

  25. “On the other hand if you want real (Saturn) love (Venus), the conscious Venus Saturn person has it to give.

I’m not sure that people want real love. They want a movie or an adventure or a fling. Maybe they want some danger or to piss off their mommy by dating or marrying you”

    Beautifully answered

  26. Saturn in Scorpio in the 7th….Moon in Capricorn conjunct NNode in the 8th opp Venus/SNode 2nd. Moon trine Pluto in Leo in the 5th. After MANY intense affairs and failed relationships (with lotsa drama/illusions) (Venus trine Neptune, sextile Pluto) I married a solid Taurus 6 1/2 years older when I was 37. I had to grow up and ditch the romantic fairytales, learn discernment and those that would use and betray me. Stop falling for the handsome womanizers and learn to value solid, true men. My mercury is trine neptune too; Mars square neptune. Woke up and smelled the coffee.

    1. KC,

Similar experiences here with natal neptune, ditching fairytales, smelling the coffee and choosing better. At 37 too.

I’ve met women and men who are in their 50s and still have the above problems, and I personally didn’t want to be 50ish and have the same problems. That inspired me to (gradually as the coffee was not smelt for some years before it was) appreciate other things in possible partners.

  27. CrisLondon,
My triple Taurus husband (pisces rising tho) would never have been my first choice when I was young. I do have Taurus rising, and our mutual Gemini mercury placements always keeps us entertained.
I indulge my Neptune side by being an artist and astrology buff instead of wild romances. There’s a book of short stories of my youthful escapades I need to write, I look back on now and smile. My life has two large chapters pre-marriage and post, I’m glad I did settle down as God knows where I would have wound up. Life is good! Hope you’re doing well too. Nodal lessons learned 🙂

    1. My husband is a Taurus too, Sag rising (fun, honest.)

Your story resonates so much with mine from ‘I indulge my Neptune…till Nodal lessons learned.’ Pre- and post-marriage life, definitely. My husband and I know we wouldn’t have gotten together in our youth.

I met my husband when Saturn was transiting my Ascendant (short of two weeks after Saturn had made its second hit to my ascendant during its retrograde motion) and during my Nodal Return (3 degrees orb approaching aspect.)

I’d had a love story during the reverse nodal return so I was aware that I could meet someone worthy and worth my while around the time. Saturn just pushed me towards what was better for me.

  28. This post is so accurate.

I didn’t see the value of Real Love for so many years…now that I’m in a relationship with a man who has Venus in Aries conjunct Saturn in Aries (luckily my Jupiter in Aries conjuncts his Venus and other Venus/Venus and Jupiter/Venus contacts) I feel that real love is something very human, very ‘good enough and good.’

I have Venus inconjunct my Saturn (wide orb) so in time I’ve adjusted to this form of love despite all my neptune aspects and pisces sun. I still feel disappointed when he farts, I fart, etc. (we joke that we kill the romance that way!)

With his conjunction burdens and delays have been present in our relationship from early on. We try to navigate them together and not part because of them. He’s got my back in general (is loyal yet also a bit elusive with neptune squaring the chart ruler and opposite Mars) and I’m learning to show that I have his back (I’m very neptunian, I can be very hard to pin down at times.)

Real love is so unappreciated nowadays. Yes, many people know it, seek it and also offer it yet there is so much neptune/illusion out there in the media (selfies trends, impossible body shape standards, disposable relationships, celebrity/fast fame/idealising celebrities who are also human, shorter attention spans for many, alpha society…)that it gets lots amidst other things that are shinier.

In old age I want real love, hence I am learning about it in my marriage.

  29. CrisLondon, I couldn’t agree with you more…”Real love is so unappreciated nowadays.” Our culture really doesn’t have a clue, in youth we’re given so many toxic and misleading messages about what enduring love is. Then of course, women have more freedom and choices now than they did in the early 70’s when I came of age with so many conflicting choices about career and family. Different for each of us I guess. Have to kiss some frogs to mature enough to find the prince. Maybe that’s just one of my life lessons with Saturn in the 7th. My Saturn trines my Cancer Sun…My 0Cap moon in the 8th opposes my late Gemini Venus, so I had to learn these lessons the hard way. Yes, “In old age I want real love”, enough heartache. We’re so lucky we’re on the right karmic track! Cheers!

  30. Saturn in Virgo the 7th Opposite Venus in the 1st. The most exacting aspect. It is Brutal. Saturn also exactly conj Vertex, North Node and Nemesis w/ Leo Moon in the 7th. So I always default to ‘Doing the right thing’ Well societies definition of the right thing has just lead me down the primrose path into some dozy of some setups. Deprogramming and figuring out what I really want to do.. what nurtures me. If I am in a relationship, very slow establishment of boundaries, trust but verifying non-negotiable deal breakers about what works, just to see if the other person is sincere. It takes a long time. I have found myself face to face with some master manipulators.. usually apt and showing me exactly how subtle I can be myself in trying to get unarticulated needs met.

Then when the dam finally breaks I’m standing face to face with someone who is labeling me as the cause or associating me as a trigger or a reflection for some equally intense narcissism.

So Saturn in the 7th & Opposite Venus… in my mind, this is pretty much the self-crucifixion aspect. Attracting rampant projection with intense blowback if I even entertain trying to point out another person’s contribution to interpersonal issues. Inner knowing and Wisdom. Resonant feedback if I project onto someone else in any way.

Never say die about sums it up, and being light-hearted while I do it. So about that. Also have an exact Libra 8th house Pluto Opp Sun intercepted signs is also in play, which certainly feeds into the blowback on any outward motivations or intentions. Sheer inertia of the conditions habits necessitates a certain faith in the rebirth of hopeless situations.

Lucky I have a Nept Sag/Moon Leo/Sun Aries fire trine to keep me inspired and half psychic.

Its not as bad as it sounds. Life is interesting.

I have Sagittarius SaturnRX and UranusRX 1st house

Gemini Venus and Jupiter 7th opposition to the above.

Love has not been easy at ALL. From family, friends or lovers.

But I have transformed a lot and still learning on this journey.

I did meet someone with opposite Rising as me so our 1st aspect each other’s 7th houses. They’re my best friend and confidant.

My Gemini Venus and Jupiter 7th touches their Gemini Rising and Chiron in 1st.

My Sagittarius SaturnRX and UranusRX in 1st hits their Sagittarius SaturnRX and UranusRX in 7th.

My Aries Moon 5th conjuncts his Aries Jupiter and NN 11th.

His Pisces Moon 10th conjuncts my Pisces NN 4th.

  32. I have Saturn in Cancer in the 7th house. Marriage has been torture. All my romantic relationships turned into prisons or immense suffering from unrequited love.

    1. Welcome, Michelle, I’m sorry for what you’ve gone through but I’d not give up hope. You may very well find love later in life.

  33. I have saturn in 7th house Gemini.. Well aware of the problems there… Just realized that I have Neptune in the 12th house but very close to the Ascendant (6 degrees away).

Any insights anybody? (Neptune being ruler of my sun sign Pisces)

True love and marriage is certainly much more important for young people than for senior citizens. It just is. Anyway, why is 7th house Saturn overlay supposed to be the only auspicious place in synergistic comparisons?

  35. I have a 7th house Piscis Saturn, trine 11th house Sun and 3rd House Neptune, square MC Jupiter and opposite Pluto and Uranus conjunct AS. Both my career and love life have been badly affected. All my life I have struggled with unrequited love, lack of relationships, difficult and unsatisfying relations and sex problems. Now at 54 I have raised a 15 yo daughter as a single mother and, after 15 years alone, would like to start dating again to give myself the last chance of finding a life paftner but don,t even know where to start. I wonder if I am bound to a lonely old age and, yes, I feel doomed for this lifetime.

  36. One of my cousins is Libra rising with Saturn in the 7th; her first serious bad had facial wounds that wouldn’t heal. A subsequent bf cheater on her and locked her out of their shared accomodation. A bf after that trekked her down after she went to his company for an interview. At the end of their relationship he was controlling, intimidating and if my other family members are to be believed, abused. Their live-in relationship culminated in his suicide. A year later she hooked up with a man 15 years her senior, who she married and had two sons with. So there my friends, are all the various permutations of Saturn in the 7th.
