  1. Yes, I agree Elsa. I always try to look my fears straight in the face, like literally. It’s definitely something a person needs to do–it doesn’t mean you’re not afraid, but it’s the first step toward conquering it.

  2. I like it! And yes, absolutely fair. Do the work, reap the reward you’ve earned.

    (Yep, I have the Saturn.)

  3. Not only the courage to face it, but the courage to disarm it. You may have stuck your knife in me, but I now have the knife. Now what to do with? Do I stick it back in you, giving back the power to you? Or do I keep it . . .lay down that weapon and make peace, or do I keep it to balance out the power in the relationship. Thank you inner planets, how do I feel about this, what do I think about this, where is the beauty in this, how does it appear to me, and how do I see it?

  4. I think this is a fair deal. You?

Except where what you fear has the true advantage of you. Then it’s “serve and suffer” whether you face your fear or not.

Perhaps that the only truly Saturnian fear – things that cannot be avoided, like old age.

  5. Even if you have a real reason to be afraid, you still have got to go stand in front of the judge.

More than once, my worst fear has manifested and what can I say? Oh well.

  6. Yes! Fair. Necessary. Saturn is like the absent father in my chart. I have only one strong-ish aspect with Saturn, and so I crave it and worship it. I march to Saturn transits long before they hit. It is also the head of a yod, though. Maybe I should make it my “locale,” and sit squarely in the fear for a while. I think I will. THANK YOU.

((Elsa)) More than once my worst fear has manifested, too.

  7. Sometimes the judge has mercy; sometimes not—the only thing certain is he has to be faced to the best of our ability.

  8. *ETA: Some things you just have to get through. Some times they are as bad as you thought, some times they are worse. But at least then they are over.

  9. Hey max I’ve been thinking that things that can’t be avoided IMHO is Pluto and Saturn is saying, “Deal with it” If you have been serving or suffering inappropriately then Pluto is here to save the day by “exposing” that which can no longer be avoided. Saturn is making us deal with something we can no longer avoid. Me personally I like positive energy, Pluto is shining his light on something in our lives, Saturn is actually “edging”him on, come on, come on, I dare you, go ahead, wield that meat cleaver you ruler of scorpio, go ahead I dare you to amputate. Or like taking a bullet to the bone. In the meantime jupiter/uranus is cheering on this battle of the titans.

I don’t think facing your worst fear is as simple as showing up. With worst fear there is often denial and avoidance. You can eventually face your fear, usually after it’s cornered you. I’ve faced some of my worst fears, and many were not by choice necessarily. It all worked out for the best blah blah blah, but still Saturn shakes you to the bone and that is never easy.

  11. To me, Saturn has an endpoint, which can be managed. My fear is of Pluto. Pluto, I’m looking you in the face… I think that’s where we truly have to release every attachment and eventually we don’t have a choice. Then our choice is in our response, which gets me directly back to your point. hmm

  12. Saturn is an endurance race. It just finished going over four of my natal planets and I am feeling A LOT stronger than when it started. However Pluto is conjunct my Sun so I am pretty much facing the dragons 24-7 anyway.

  13. My fears have also occured twice. I kinda think Pluto (and I) manifested them. For me, Saturn sidles up to them in the form of boot camp or a training session or Mt. Kilimanjaro. Pluto hands them to you as a grenade wrapped around an apocalypse..

Makes ya think twice about managing/conquering fears in the first place.

  14. Even if you have a real reason to be afraid, you still have got to go stand in front of the judge.

Yes, just so. What happens when you could avoid standing in front of the judge just by heading your fears. Another words, you aren’t going to murder anybody, but let’s say you really wanted to get someone. If you ‘faced up to your fears’ you might do that person in and then Saturn would have you. It would then be better to serve and suffer, yes? That’s separate from when you must go, even if you did nothing wrong. That’s what I was thinking about at any rate: when you should heed your fears versus facing up to them. Sorry.

Daisy: Hey max I’ve been thinking that things that can’t be avoided IMHO is Pluto and Saturn is saying, “Deal with it”

I’d think they’d be Saturn. Pluto is always there of course, but unless you die, Pluto isn’t bugging you. (Well, then again, maybe you die a little bit each day.) Think back to when it was just Saturn and no one knew about Pluto. Saturn was old man Kronos, the guy with the scythe that cuts you off when your time is up. See? There’s some confusion in modern astrology between Kronos the old man Time, who builds the material and tears it down, and Pluto the guy who hangs out in the invisible place sending his invisible rays. Which one of those is death and which one is the afterlife, whatever that is? (Because I think all fears, in the end, boil down to the death of the ego, which is the death of the self. Am I rambling? You bet.)

Pluto is shining his light on something in our lives, Saturn is actually “edging”him on, come on, come on, I dare you, go ahead, wield that meat cleaver you ruler of scorpio, go ahead I dare you to amputate. Or like taking a bullet to the bone.

I think we’re coming at the same thing from two different directions. At any rate, what if the amputation is your life? If you accept death by, say, deciding to jump out the window, whether your fear controlled you or not isn’t relevant. You still died. OTOH, if you face up to your fear of death by deciding not to worry about it too much than it doesn’t control you, for sure.

In the meantime jupiter/uranus is cheering on this battle of the titans.

Yep. And the two titans are battling in my head and right here in this comment. 😉 OK, so the moon is in Pisces, and I’m feeling like going two directions. It’s still a interesting astrological question to me: who is the grim reaper, Saturn or Pluto? Remember that Kronos cut his Daddy Ouranos’ nuts off with a scythe. I should shut up about irrelevant stuff now.

  15. Saturn encourages planning. Pluto doesn’t require a plan. This is something that an astrologer told me once and I found it a comfort.

  16. “when you should heed your fears versus facing up to them..”

I think it is the same thing. To face your fears is to look at them squarely and do something.

  17. Fear is such a huge bummer and I guess we all learn as we grow older that it’s far easier just to do what we’re supposed to do…leaving far fewer things to fear, right? And sometimes Neptune/Saturn configurations can cause unreasonable fear too; fear based on illusion or deception, even self-deception or self-generated false fears.

I did a Saturn meditation on my solar return the other day as part of my personal celebration. The meditation can be found in Joy Michaud’s book “The Uranus-Neptune Influence”. The meditation teaches how to make friends with Saturn/Kronus. Best thing I’ve done for myself in a little while I think. Totally empowering.

  18. I think it is the same thing. To face your fears is to look at them squarely and do something.

OK, fair point. I got what you mean now.

Saturn encourages planning. Pluto doesn’t require a plan.

Pluto just irradiates you, huh? Fun!

    [‘Pluto, what a gas.’]

  19. @Max, agreed. Now I know why sporting events have more than one camera, looking at the exact same game but from a different angle. Pisces, same game, two different views. You give more to think about, Thanks.

  20. “More than once, my worst fear has manifested and what can I say? Oh well.”

In the last few years, ramping up in the last year and increasing, some worst fears have indeed come. But I’m still here, hanging on. *god help me*

  21. Daisy: Pisces, same game, two different views. You give more to think about, Thanks.

    Thanks, Daisy!

[‘I have Libra and I can’t decide which Piscean type I am.’]

  22. Capricorn with Saturn in the first. This is how I try to live my life…I’m starting to wonder if its the best way to be. Sometimes fear is rational, aiding and helpful. I’m not sure.

  23. @ Max. My south node is in Gemini and my neptune is in libra. I can be indecisive at times.
But my pisces rising regarding same game two different views is not indecisiveness but more like the song, I’ve looked at life from both sides now, from up and down and win and loose and it’s life’s illusions I recall, I really don’t know life at all.

  24. @Daisy My South Node is in Libra and my Neptune is conjunct my Sun in Scorpio. So I have lots of Piscean influence and lots of Libra.

I’ve looked at life from both sides now, from up and down and win and loose and it’s life’s illusions I recall, I really don’t know life at all.

I absolutely endorse this sentiment. I don’t know why I’m here a lot of the time.

    [‘It was to do… something.’]

  25. Love that song. I don’t have any Libra, but I’ll tell you, I spend so much time looking at it from all different angles that I have a devil of a time making up my mind. Maybe all my Virgo?

  26. Snapdragon, you might, hell, probably have progressed planets in Libra, since progressed planets move slowly over a lifetime. (It takes 30 years for the sun to cross a sign.)

    max
[‘So you probably do have planets in Libra.’]

  27. I don’t use whole houses or equal signs, or what Elsa uses (I have a hard time remembering that for some reason), so Libra is hidden in my 7th house. My 7th is just Virgo. Funny I just found out my best friend from ages ago is a Libra. And what is funnier? Out of all the signs, I have the very hardest time trying to pin down Libran energy, trying to get a feel for what that sign is like. All the other signs I can think up a few key words, but Libra? All I got is is Elsa’s famous phrase, “I have Libra, I can’t decide” lol.

  28. @snapdragon: Elsa uses equal house.

All the other signs I can think up a few key words, but Libra? All I got is is Elsa’s famous phrase, “I have Libra, I can’t decide” lol.

You have understood Libra just fine. You can’t decide about Libra, you are a Libran. Now I’m certain you have progressed planets in Libra – you should go over to astrodienst and check.

    [‘Probably the sun for one.’]

  29. Hmmm, it says I have progressed Mars in Libra. But I’m wondering if I did it right though, since it says December 13 and then the year I was born. But I wasn’t born on December 13, so ??? (Right above that, it does have today’s date though, and inside the box it does have the correct year I was born). You just do a progressed chart, right?

  30. Oh, a progressed chart is a one year to every day that passes after your birthday. So if you were born December 1st, and you were 20 years old, you’d count December 2nd (1), Dec. 3rd (2) and so on until you got to 20 (Dec. 21st). Same birthtime and place, but advanced however many years is your progressed chart.

(Right above that, it does have today’s date though, and inside the box it does have the correct year I was born). You just do a progressed chart, right?

Yep. You’ve got the right chart.

Hmmm, it says I have progressed Mars in Libra.

Ayup. I guessed right. So everything Elsa says about Mars in Libra applies to you.

[‘It can be a very relaxed placement.’]
