Sagittarius, 9th House, Jupiter – Themed Movies

chariotsfiredm2610_468x340.jpgContinuing on the astrology-themed movie series (see Scorpio titles here), how about some Jupiter-themed titles? Jupiter rules outdoor sports, higher education, religion, luck, storytelling, etc. Personally I love feel good movies and can think of several titles.

The first that comes to mind is Chariots of Fire Oscar’s best picture in 1981 it has all the Jupiter components. Running, religion, education, the Olympics…

Big Fish is another. It ‘s a movie about storytelling… very, VERY BIGGER THAN LIFE storytelling.

Legends of the Fall is another even though I was once horribly insulted for liking it. It features an old Indian storyteller and a man (Brad Pitt) on a journey both quintessential sagittarius.

Your turn.

  1. Two Sagittarian movies, both featuring Sagittarius Jeff Bridges:

    The Serious: “Fearless”

The Not Serious: “The Big Lebowski”

Watch them back to back and you’ll get the full Sag/Jupiter tour. 🙂

  2. Matthew– “she’s not my girlfriend; I never said she was my girlfriend. she’s my LADY friend.”

    SO sadge.

  3. Luck, Starring Sarah Polley, Gambling on a Hockey Game! combined with a Love Story! I Love it!!!

    The Neverending Story!

    Oh man I must have a million . .

    Millions!

I’ll be back with more tomorrow. If I rememebr. HEheh.

  4. Whoa, satori. My Sadge moon boyfriend is the type to call me his “lady friend” although he’s recently bucked up to “girlfriend” which is an odd progression, somehow. And he freaking loves the Big Lebowski.

    The Neverending Story
Star Wars, right? Seems just about any traditional hero’s journey could be Sadge, as long as it doesn’t get too dark and Scorpionic like Apocalypse Now.

  5. The Greatest Story Ever Told: Jupiter rules religion and we’ve got “greatest” in the title of the film.

  6. One movie that comes to mind is Spirited Away. It is a japanese animation movie. There is an underlying message to the movie. It is one of my favoite movies!!

  7. Let’s not forget horse movies…

The Mummy has an overall pseudo-intellectual feel to it in combination with the foreign place/person nature of it regardless of where you’re from.

I tend to look at epic movies like Lord of the Rings as Jupiter to its total extent, both Sagittarius + Pisces in nature. The blind adventurer meets humility/humanity.

  8. Chocolat
    Under the Tuscan Sun
    Wimbledon
    A Knights Tale
    Aquamarine
    Secondhand Lions

I have a list a mile long that not only make me feel good when I watch them but I always become introspective.

  9. Lol! ‘She’s not my special lady, she’s my fuckin’ lady friend! One of my all time faves- could watch it over and over.
I nominate The Mission- priests journeying to the amazon to teach religion to the indians. Bob Deniro is in it, too! Not very feelgood, but.
And I can’t remember what it is called, but I saw this Mongolian movie about a man’s undying love.. for his horse! The horse was called Gang-hara and there was a scene where he had to go away to the city on a train. Well Gang-hara was galloping alongside the train while the man leant out the window, sobbing ‘Gang-hara! Gang-hara!’. There was no other love interest.

  10. Oooh I had a thing for legends of the fall and aidin (sp) quinn 🙂

Not sure if it’s feel good but that version of little women with susan sarandon is wonderful

  11. THE BURMESE HARP: An excellent old movie from Japan that’s really got more to it than Sagittarian/9th house/Jupiter energy but religion is a key feature.

    Highly recommended.

  12. How about Princess Bride? I mean, we have a great story wrapped in another great story, and a grand adventure through exotic lands.

“Has it got any sports in it?”

‘Are you kidding? Fencing, fighting, torture, revenge, giants, monsters, chases, escapes, true love, miracles… ‘

“That doesn’t sound too bad. I’ll try to stay awake.”

‘Oh, well, thank you very much, very nice of you. Your vote of confidence is overwhelming.’

Hello, my name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die.

    “INCONCEIVABLE!”

‘You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.’

  13. oh man I had this whole long thing about The Princess Bride and it’s either delayed or hiding.

    Anyway. Princess Bride!

  14. mahEggo – I second Chocolat and A Knights Tale. 🙂
miss – Miyazaki films rule. Have you seen his other works? Did you get to see Ponyo? Nausica and Howls Moving Castle are my favorites, until I watch one of the other ones. 😉

outdoor sports – Triplets of Bellville
higher education – Good Will Hunting/Dead Poets Society
    religion – Boondock Saints
    luck – Trainspotting
    storytelling – Stranger than Fiction
