Is There Such A Thing As “The One”?

ElsaElsa ask the collectiveMy sister asked:

“Does this mean, Elsa, that you don’t believe that there is someone you meet in this lifetime that is your partner?
Or do you believe there are many possibilities as to who is meant to be your partner?
OR, do you not have an opinion on the matter?”

How did you arrive at your answer / what is it based on and where is your Venus?

Is There Such A Thing As “The One”? — 23 Comments

  1. This is the mother of all loaded questions. I chose “I have Libra and I can’t decide”. Ideally, I would like to imagine a “one and only” soulmate scenario. But I just don’t know if that works for every soul.

    Venus in Pisces

  2. I voted one soul for every soul – at least when you are someone as complicated as I am. When my journey ends with my husband, however it does, I have no intention of looking for someone else. He understands me, inside and out, we have been all over the map together (emotionally), and I would not have the energy to start all over with someone else. This could very well be an age thing, I might think differently if I was 20 years younger, I suppose.

  3. Venus in Libra 2nd H. I picked ‘any number of partners’ because sometimes it’s just one after the other, but they are all your destiny. They are meant for you for that part of the journey. But yes, I think you eventually get to the last & best one though.

  4. I don’t have Libra (well, Jupiter in Libra) and I can’t decide.

I feel I have loved a few. And could have loved a few. They were dead ends though. If there is a soulmate for me that I will be with…I have not met him.

I would like to know the answer to this question and suspect I never will– not in this lifetime anyway.

    But also sextile Jupiter

    Hmmm……

How Jupiter/Libra works in my life I have no clue……

  5. Venus in Aquarius trine Jupiter and Saturn

I think that there are a few temporary partners that we are meant to be with for a while, but, ultimately, I believe that there is one person out there who we are meant to share most of our life’s journey with.

  6. I voted other. Venus Gemini/2H.

I think we are attuned to plenty of other people, but I believe in our free will to the extent that we choose to enter into a relationship. I could feel a strong connection with someone, but choose not to be in a committed relationship with that person. So someone could hypothetically have a potential partner(s) but not be the type to want to partner in the first place. And I actually would be very upset/feel stifled if there was a single someone out there meant for me. Give me a chance to experience a little more than something ‘fated,’ let me have some say in the matter – it’s my life. (As an aside – is this partner supposed to be perfect for me / make me crazy / fill in the blanks, etc.? What determines it? I like all of those!)

Also, I think friendships are just as important as romantic relationships. God help me if I had only a significant other! 🙂

  7. I think the idea that there is one person for everyone is very dangerous in some ways. People feel pressure to find and be with their “one” and they try to make everyone they meet fit into that role. I believe the important thing is one’s capacity to love. If you have the capacity to love deeply then you will be able to express that with whoever you choose to partner with. If you are constantly checking in to make sure you’re right and he’s the one, you can’t go that deep in the moment.

I say let who you are with now be the one or don’t bother being with them at all.

Obviously I believe there are exceptions. Some people meet the love of their lives when they are young and they just fit together their entire lives. But I think more people fall into the other category.

  8. I voted other. Venus Gemini/2H.

  9. ‘There are any number of partners for each soul’ and ‘There is one soul for every other soul’ are essentially the same statement, imo. I voted for the latter. I have Venus in Aries and I always put my self first. Come to think of it, my first sentence was “my toy”. LOL!

  10. Venus in Taurus, forth or fifth house depending on house system.

I think it really depends on the person, and I’m not the romantic like I used to be a decade ago. I’d like to hope I’ll find the One by the end of the year, but most relationships break up, and everything is so impermanent.

  11. Strangely enough I didn’t used to believe that way. But my husband found me and we’ve been together ever since. Almost always together. A lot of people can’t be that way, but we are. We hold hands, we now work at the same place. We hardly ever go anywhere without the other. Very few places. We’re happy. We’ve been together a total (before and after marriage) eight years.

  12. Falconbridge, that’s wonderful. I feel the same about my man. And I have loved each and every partner I’ve been with to the fullest of my ability. John just fits me and me him like no one before.

I didn’t meet John until I was 41 years old. I would have wasted a lot of my life if I had believed I was waiting for my soul mate. I needed those experiences earlier in my life to make me the person John fell in love with and the same for him. Our early forays into love shaped us into the people we are now. And I believe each one of those people in the past were important to our souls’ development so they could well be referred to as soul mates.

  13. venus in virgo in the 7th. i said many. as i look back over my life and the people i’ve been close to, i feel like each of them was special and ‘meant’ for me in their own way. my future husband is my greatest love – and i love him with all my heart – but i simply don’t believe that we are the only ones for each other. i know that if something happened to me, god forbid, i hope he would find love again. i think life is now, what we make of it,…there is no bigger plan.

    venus in virgo. practical?

  14. I voted the second option “There are any number of partners for each soul”.I have(tropical) Venus in Pisces in 5th; Scorpio Asc..and Mars Saturn conjunct on the 7th house(taurus)cusp…( I personally prefer to use Sidereal as it feels more accurate to me, it leaves Venus in Pisces but puts my Ac in Libra and Saturn/mars in Aries)I agree with Dolce. Although the romantic in me(venus) loves the idea of a soul mate..

  15. I think SOME people have “The One.” I think some people have many ones. I think some people (think priests and nuns as an example) don’t have any “one” at all, and that they are not supposed to have one. Of course me and my Venus Saturn, well, I’m in the latter camp.

Some folks get lucky and some don’t. And maybe some aren’t supposed to get lucky because they are to do something else besides love and be loved.

  16. I don’t like the concept of the One because it feeds experiencing of separation. We’re all One, we’re all in this together. If anything the One starts with ME. (big neptune, aries mars!)

Anyway I initially voted other because it depends on how one is wired: some people (the minority it seems) meet their sweet heart young and stay together forever after, many will have several “ones”, another minority is not really interested in relationships at that level (or even be asexual entirely), and then there are the frequent serial monogamists and what about the poly peeps?

I also voted other because significant partners in life can be other then lovers, e.g. friends, family, mentored/mentor, ____ image. Including people whose path and yours merge briefly, but you’ve changed each other in some profound way and both remain in each other’s heart.

And what about the nebulous beautiful One(s) dreamt up out of a vacuum, but nevertheless very real to the dreamer. They may or never meet another dreamer, and then reality comes crashing either way.

Also dipping into the contentious concept of contracts, oh never mind, contracts can always be broken…or chosen again. In the end it’s what one chooses to believe so might as well be really clear about it.

(yeah libra rising here, taurus venus sq. uranus & sag moon)
