Should You Date Or Marry Your Astro-Twin?

Dear Elsa,

I am dating a man who’s birthday is the same day, same month and same year as mine. Is this a good match? How often does this happen?

Cancer Woman

Dear Woman,

This does not happen very often although I see people born within a week of each other fairly frequently. It’s hard to say if it is a good match or not.

For me, it would be a terrible match because I want someone odd and unusual. I would be bored to tears dating someone so similar to myself. However this tendency is shown my chart and another person may take a lot of comfort being paired with someone very much like themselves.

Traditional astrology would be against the idea, the premise being there is little challenge or opportunity for growth. But this really doesn’t hold up in reality because if you are a difficult challenging person and so is he… well then you’re going to have plenty of difficulty and challenge.

Based on all this, it would have to be judged on a case to case basis but really the only judgment that matters is yours.

Are you happy? That right there is the best barometer.

  1. yah 🙂 but luckily there’s a challenge, just enough for personal growth and shift in perspective coupled with lots of mutual understanding, smiles, hugs and empathy. we’re telepathic and strong people. they aren’t born at the same time so ascendants will be different as will be the moon, that’s just enough to keep the magic. check to see if venus is sextile and whether mars and venus conjunct for it not to get boring but add love and sex 🙂

  2. My friend dated a guy with the same birthday/year for a couple of years. They were both Leos. She was the egomanical, dramatic, high maintenance kind and he was oddly a very shy and quiet Leo. They were very different (sorry I don’t know anything else about their charts), but still it didn’t work out well and ended on a bad note. It could be a different experience for someone else though.

  3. I laughed out loud because as soon as I saw the title I thought “Cancer” and that was before I scrolled down. I have a theory that the sign that most gravitates toward like is Cancer. First, I know more Cancer-Cancer married couples than any other (5). Second, the guy I’m dating is a Cancer and knows 7 astro-twins. He’s never dated any of them, but he’s friends with a number of them. In contrast, I’ve never run across anyone in my life born on the same day and year as me!

  4. I think it would depend on the individuals. Perhaps some astro-twins can make something like that work, especially if there’s some Gemini involved. (Twins! Hee!)

But I know it wouldn’t work for me. I can’t even imagine pairing with someone who also has a Cap Moon. *shudder*

  5. You know, I suppose I should add… My fiance and I are both Aries, with birthdays three days apart. BUT… He’s also 10 years older than me. 😀 Vastly different charts, and it works beautifully.

  6. Wow! Well my theory has not been scientifically tested… these are just the same-sign couples in my sphere!

  7. Inadvertently briefly dated several over the years, same month and day as me, but the year varied. Always same result though–I found them very, very, very predictable, and that was SO boring. But, I am an Aries…

  8. But Danielle, that means they were Aries, too, no? I am an Aries and was married to an Aries and have many Aries friends, I must say I have yet to meet a predictable, boring one yet

  9. I know a couple who have the same birthday, but they were born different years. I see two Cancers being happy and cozy and comfortable for a long time. But that’s a very broad idea. I agree with Elsa, it would probably have to be analyzed on a case by case basis, but if Cancer Woman is feels good about it, then why not?

  10. The guy I’m dating right now & I have the same birthdate – – February 13 but we’re 2 years apart; he’s 2 years older than me. My gut feeling is ‘good’ but would like some perspective on this.

  11. I’m dating someone who is exactly one year younger than myself (both July 19th). I really don’t see that we are the same person…however, we do think along the same lines, but I don’t think that is unusual, or bad.

I really don’t follow astrology too much, but all I know is that we are very happy together, and I think we compliment each other quite well.

  12. what about if the ascendant and moon are also in the same sign? – would it mean whatever internal struggles you face would suddenly manifest in your partnership?

Wouldn’t this technically be the best way for the both of you to fulfill your charts? Your individual life lessons?

  13. Hi ther, i have a bf who have the same birthday with me but different year we r LEO, there is alot of strange things happen between us, well it is very unique to me because whenever im busy working then same goes to him, if i got problem i dont why he also got problem, if im having my menstrual then he is the one whos very moody.. It happens all the time.. Whatever happen to me there must be something similar happen to him also. Now he is in london and im in one of the country in asia so the time zone is hugely different, now there is another strange problem happen between us.. I have to ask him to wait for me to wake up in the morning 1st before he go to sleep at night in london because whenever he go to sleep while im sleeping then all of sudden i will be awake.. If he sleep thats mean he wake me up. Its strange things right? Yea.. Just wanna share with you all about my experience.

  14. I’ve been dating a guy with the same birthday for a year. I’ve never been happier. We’re both aries though, so it might vary from sign to sign.

  15. I have been dating my boyfriend for 8 months now. We were born on NOv 9, two hours apart (time zone difference). He has the same name as my real father, is a sleep tech while i study dreams..Lots of similarities between us but so far so good! We seem to be in sync with everything. I love it!

  16. I’ve been dating someone who was born with in the same hour as I was. Same mounth day and year… Curious if we’d be the same moon sign as well, but more importantly, if we’re supposed to hit it off. It’s been great given that we’re born in different countries, and grew up with very different backgrounds, but still “get” each other’s Gemini qualities. We even tried to be “just friends” for months, and talked about seeing other people but we’re still coming back to each other. Guess we’re not what we would typically look for in a partner if at all, but here we are loving the heck out of each other… and incredibly accepting.

  17. Definitely think that, while a same birthday/ sun sign match can be compelling, the differences you’re likely to show in your individual charts will inform the nature of your connection.

And predestination isn’t a given. 🙂 Even caesarean twins born same time, same place, same day, same month, same year can orient to the world in ways that transcend their mutual need to be each others point-counterpoint.

I don’t have to say that the mind/brain is a funny thing, and that biology and experience and myriad mysterious and not-so-mysterious things affect the impact of birth date on its development.

But now we’re moving into a diff convo. 🙂

    Best.

  18. I met a guy on a resent holiday where we met at a bar. We had such a connection and I was immediately attracted to him. I later found out that we shared the same birthday! This was definitely special to me and he was surprised as well. Unfortunately I got really unwell at the end of the holiday and we didn’t exchange contact details. I would love to see him again and wonder what could be the chances of us meeting again.

  19. LOL. I’ve met two people born on my birthday Let’s just say Scorpio. One was a man who was an “enforcer” with a gang and the other was a woman who is now in jail for murder. What the heck?!?

  20. I am in a committed relationship with my astro twin. Same month, yr and a bit under a day apart. Our moons and ascendant are different. My sun/pluto/merc conjunction is conjunct his sun/pluto/merc conjunction with my mars/venus conjunction conjunct his mars/venus conjunction (all square our own and each others uranus/Neptune conjuntions!) The kicker is my sun is 29 libra and his is about 2 Scorpio. I claim eldership

  21. I met a young man with the same birthday as me (both Pisces). We have opposite ascendants making the chart comparison ultra conjunct, it’s like a mirror image. Definition of astrotwins. I’ve never been so blissfully attracted to anyone before; I wish we could date but so far it hasn’t happened.

A downside (at this point in time) appears to be that the negative aspects of the planets that we have in our individual natal charts are mirrored in the comparative natal chart. I’m overflowing with curiosity about what a relationship could be like…

  22. I was born January 2, 1960 and just met a man interested in me who was born the same day and same year. I have had a co-worker over the years and clients who have had the same birthday but never the same year. I was born near 3:30 in the afternoon, but I do not know the hour he was born. I find it freaky and scary because with him you wouldn’t have any secrets. We are both very sensual beings. We like smart people with whom we can have great repartee, someone humorous with great wit. He answered my ad on a dating site. We will see where it goes.

  23. I just started to data a lovely guy born on same day ,but not same year , 28 Feb me in 1972 and he’s 1969 , Alil going very good , same kind of personality , I to met him on a dating site , going on second day , I really like him

  24. I would haul ass in the opposite direction if I were to encounter my astro twin. I’ve only had one brief dalliance with an Aquarian and it was none too bueno. I need fire in a man. My longest relationship was with my second husband, a double Leo with Capricorn rising. I need a man who isn’t anything at all like me.

  25. I’m an Aries and my boyfriend is a Pisces. besides our moon and ascendant, our charts are very similar. Same mercury, mars, venus, Uranus, neptune saturn, etc. We love hard, however being so Aries dominant, we also fight hard lol

  26. my boyfriend and I are born on the same year;month and date we work out so amazing we may not ve the same but our relationships is still clicking and it’s been 5years dating and he ever n proposed to me,and on our birth day which is 3 september we are getting married.

  27. My boyfriend and I born on the same year, day and time. We both pisces. True we do have some similar personality but most of them are not. Im a bit talkative person while he kinda shy. We have been dating for 2years already and we still happy together. We also plan to get marry.

  28. My husband and I are born the same day and year 4 hours
apart and 15 miles apart. We’ve been married 52 years and get along very well. He’s an extreme extrovert and I’m pretty introverted. I don’t put much stock in astrology!

  29. So me and my boyfriend born same year same day February 27 1978 we are unsure of time we were born we have been together 9 months and being the same fish in the sea we swim side by side everyday

  30. I am dating my astro twin. He is about seven hours older than me and we are Levirgans. I don’t understand the astral chart and detailed stuff, but we seem to be motivated in the same way, although we don’t always agree with each other. We have the same sort of energy. We are both anxious worriers but we are also (I think) kind at heart and a bit sensitive. We are also both proud and we are very careful of each other’s feelings. It really is a bit like looking in the mirror and understanding yourself in someone else. I want it to go on and on….

  31. My parents were born on the same day, the same year. Yet my mother fought with my father, then finally divorced him. I didn’t think they were alike at all. Are there other astro-twin cases like that?

  32. My astro twin’s band played at my wedding reception 🙂 He was born in the same hospital, at nearly the same time. Supposedly his mom was scheduled for a c-section, when my mom came roaring in with me about to pop out. I came out so fast, my dad almost missed it while parking the car. I believe the boy was delivered shortly after me – not sure exactly how many minutes later. Anyway, he and I went to school together for a majority of the years from pre-school through 12th grade. He happens to be an awesome blue grass musician, which was the perfect choice of music for my husband’s and my low-key backyard wedding. It was a very cool connection to have with someone over all those years, and to have included on that particular day. A great memory!
