Mercury Retrograde in Virgo: August 12, 2017 – High End Editing

Mercury will turn retrograde in Virgo on August 12th. If there is such a thing as a “high end”, Mercury retrograde period, this looks that way to me.

The main reason is that Mercury is high-functioning in it’s home sign, Virgo. Compare a period like this to Mercury in retrograde in Taurus where everything slows to a crawl, if it moves at all.

Or how about Mercury retrograde in Scorpio, where people pick the same scab (metaphorically or otherwise), over and over and over, like a vultures pecking on a corpse!

So hey! If you have a chance to go back and fix errors, this seems worth doing.

To keep things interesting, Mercury will retrograde back into Leo during this period. The planet will station in Leo, September first through the tenth, turning direct on the 6th.

I see this as a drama break. We’ll enjoy some theatrics or creative writing and then back on the job when Mercury ingresses back into Virgo and completes it’s transit through the sign, mid October.

  1. WHY? I need a new apartment and I need to move in sometime between August 15th and 19th. My eyes are rolling so hard they’re about to fall out of my head. Naturally Mercury will be going through my 4th. Everything goes through my 4th in August. But hey I guess I can correct errors. Last time I moved somewhere 40min away from my job, with an empty lot behind it, sooo long commute and hellish 24/7 construction. I won’t be making that mistake again. That’s also the second week of school. I will be completely changing my classroom setup this year. I actually sketched it out in May when Mercury was last retro. Also changing the story time rules, which I tried out last May as well. Also changing circle time (when we communicate!) which I also started testing in May. SO I guess as bummed as I am about moving during this period, I will hopefully gain some good things from starting school during it.

  2. I’m getting my house ready to put on the market early next year. Currently, I am deep cleaning and purging my closets. Love the fact that this Mercury Rx will create a turbo-charge effect.

Elsa, do you have any posts about when to place a house on the resale market? Thanks.

      • You can get St Joseph candle kits, with vigil candles. Good overview and tips on Lucky Mojo site.

I like Conjured Cardea, she works with flowers and plants from her own gardens and items seem carefully made. She also offers a Home Hunter oil that works for apartment searches too (and it has a lovely aroma!).

I may be house hunting in August too. Actually more wary of not signing or committing during the two weeks between eclipses 8/7 to 8/21, I’ve read that it can be unsettled or unclear till the second eclipse.

This should be interesting, lots of activity for my Mercury/Jupiter in Virgo this time! One of the things I find often true during retro is be cautious about false alarms, some things can seem much worse than they are and there is danger of overcomplicating things that may work out post retro.

    • We had very good results having our agent LIST the house for sale on the MLS on a “good” day, using electional astrology. This is a method that identifies times to initiate something. (Mostly focused on aspects to the moon I believe). You can search the internet for these electional dates. Best of luck.

  3. I am actually looking forward to this retro period! I have been thinking constantly about stuff, emotional stuff that I try to rationalize and going over and over and over again, its driving me nuts! But I can’t stop myself! (gemini moon). Its like I think I finally will get true insight about my feelings and if I go over things. Its like a movie inside of me on replay. So I think mercury retro will help me break this curse.

I have virgo asc 14 degress, so the mercury will go over my 1st and 12th house! So convinient! I’m very excitet!

Last year though when we had a virgo retro it hit me hard. I lost my beloved amber bracelet, I lost my bus/train card and they are very expensive in Sweden. And I lost/missplaced a few things etc. So If you have some placements in virgo, be extra careful with your stuff!

  4. I wondered what ‘high end’ Mercury meant. Hmm, seems a very effective eraser in the right hand, or left if that’s your dominant. Good POV, Elsa. Will pass this along to the Virgo Ascendant Crab of mine.

  5. I have a 93 year old client in hospice. I have to make a career decision. Should I wait? Just take care of her and her son to move on? Move on or stay with caregiver agency and hope for work?

  6. Two years in a row of mercury retrograde solar returns, and I’m ready for it all to be over! Good thing it will be over once this final one passes through…

  7. Elsa,

Is Mercury Retrograde a good time to get things repaired? I always thought so, but now am not sure. Both my car and bicycle need tune-ups and I had planned to do that during the retrograde. Your thoughts?

    • I’m not sure that typically it would be. But Mercury rx in Virgo would be about fixing and making things efficient, getting tasks done. I would say yes, but for this cycle, rather than generally speaking. 🙂

  8. If a big new project (involving communication and contracts) begins just prior to the Mercury Retrograde, will this high end retrograde in detail oriented Virgo suggest it’s better to wait to begin the project?

    • Personally, I would wait on something new. But that’s just me. If you have a strong feeling it’s a good idea, then go ahead and toss the dice. I don’t think it would doom you or anything. It just doesn’t make sense to try to gain traction, while in reverse. 🙂

      • That’s just enough of an objective view to wait on this. Shifts in clarification have come to light. Waiting seems the better choice. We need the traction:)
