Astrology Quotes: Libra In Their Own Words

Libra is Venus ruled and concerned with love and relationship. There is an innate ability to see both sides of any situation and although Libras deplore conflict, they intuitively know what is fair and will try to bring balance to any and all circumstance. Above all, Libra is a civilized sign, sometimes considered people-pleasing courtesy their constant internal need to be “nice”.

Everything is clearer when you’re in love.
John Lennon

“I think, especially in our business we meet a lot of people, and sometimes you spend so much time being nice to strangers, and so, you know, keeping a clear head and just being nice to each other. And that’s all the advice I can give.”
Catherine Zeta Jones

I have a terrific marriage, but unlike a lot of relationships where they ebb and flow, no matter what happens you fall deeper and deeper in love every day. It’s kind of the best thing that can happen to you. It’s thrilling.
Hugh Jackman

Do you really have to be the ice queen intellectual or the slut whore? Isn’t there some way to be both?”
Susan Sarandon

Astrology Quotes: Libra In Their Own Words — 33 Comments

  1. Being surrounded by Librans, you’d think I’d have one. But, nope!

I like Kate Winslet’s quote. Being the younger sister, I wish my (Aries) sister would have felt the same. 😀 And, with Venus in Libra, I can absolutely feel what Hugh Jackman’s saying – it’s similar to something I said just this past week, actually.

  2. Libra sun-venus here. My libra’s quotes is (all the time) “calm down, calm down, everything will gonna be ok” Or may be a sadge libra mantra. Finally everything is not so fine but, …I feel like a queen anyway

  3. The situation: discussing the state of the world today and the potential horrors that could unfold:

Me, Libra Sun and multiple Libra planets, on the phone with a friend yesterday: “It’s gonna be okay, it’s just a little apocalypse, just a little end of the world. Take deep breaths.”

My friend, Aries Sun: “But, I don’t want it to be the apocalypse! I don’t want to be eaten by cannibals!”

Me: “Oh, honey, I absolutely promise you won’t be eaten by cannibals. You’re going to be in a burqua and living in purdha. Okay? So, really, it’s not that bad. Deep breaths. Just a little bit of an apocalypse. Just a wee end of the world.”

  4. “Unless you love someone, nothing else makes any sense.” ee cummings

    and one of his poems:

one’s not half two. It’s two are halves of one:
    which halves reintegrating,shall occur
no death and any quantity;but than
all numerable mosts the actual more

    minds ignorant of stern miraculous
this every truth-beware of heartless them
    (given the scalpel,they dissect a kiss;
    or,sold the reason,they undream a dream)

one is the song which fiends and angels sing:
all murdering lies by mortals told make two.
    Let liars wilt,repaying life they’re loaned;
    we(by a gift called dying born)must grow

deep in dark least ourselves remembering
    love only rides his year.
    All lose,whole find

  5. Oh, and while I’m talking about myself, (Libra vanity), this is me, too. 🙂

“I think it is better to be a prisoner of hope than disciple of despair. It made me think about my naivete, my ridiculous faith in people that can’t seem to be beaten out of me, and leaves me eternally surprised when someone behaves rather badly towards me. And, you know, I’m proud of it. I’m proud to be someone who does love and trust so easily, and who does want to believe the best of people even when my gut says otherwise. I’d rather live in a state of hope than a state of eternal despair. Despair isn’t pretty, it isn’t smart, it isn’t cool, and it doesn’t make anyone or anything better. Hope, while it leaves me open to being crushed on a regular basis, at least is beautiful and bright. It does make me a better person than I otherwise would be.

While I’m aware of my faults as a human (well, most of them), I’m also aware that I’m a pretty okay human being. In fact, I’m pretty damn good. I have this blindly optimistic heart beating away inside of me and I think that makes me kind of special. I’m a good friend, a good mother, a pretty decent wife, a good daughter, and loving person. I’m not the best employee, but that isn’t the sum of me. I might gossip a little too much in some people’s estimation, but that isn’t the sum of me, either. And if someone wants to make that the sum of me so that they can rest easier and not be faced with my hideous happiness and my hope that rides so harshly against the hide of their despair, then so be it.”

  6. WOW RKKGGG I wish I knew you. I wish I could meet you at Starbucks and spend an hour with you so your happy gene will rub off on me. I was happy for 7 months this year which was a record. Everyone noticed the difference when I was in love.

I was hooked up with my first male Libra- actually someone with 5 planets in Libra and I didn’t still don’t get the big love prize. (someone who elsa referred to as a guy who couldn’t be by himself for 2 minutes).

I did get a huge disappointment and maybe worse, maybe a lie. I can not put myself out there again like that and yet I can’t live like this either. I hate this.

  7. Alls fair in love and war – simply means that whatever you have to do to win – is fair in those two situations. I disagree however, but thats what it means. Any means to the end.

  8. Jilly, thanks for the e.e. cummings’ poem. always liked his stuff and I wasn’t aware he was a Libra!

One of my favorite writers, born October 16, 1854, is Oscar Wilde. He is great for the pithy quote, and now that we’re looking through this lens, I see how he is SO Libra:

Always forgive your enemies – nothing annoys them so much.
I am so clever that sometimes I don’t understand a single word of what I am saying.
I have the simplest tastes. I am always satisfied with the best.
I never travel without my diary. One should always have something sensational to read in the train.
It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious.
Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden when the flowers are dead.
Life is never fair, and perhaps it is a good thing for most of us that it is not.
Men always want to be a woman’s first love – women like to be a man’s last romance.
Moderation is a fatal thing. Nothing succeeds like excess.
One should always play fairly when one has the winning cards.
Some cause happiness wherever they go; others whenever they go.

    Btw, Great Susan Sarandon quote!

  9. Ms. Scarlett, aw, thanks! I’d love to meet you, too, I’m sure. 🙂 As for whether the happy would rub off, it does on some people, others find me calming, some find me soothing, some find me charming, and some find me horrid in my happiness and decide to villainize it and me. (Villainize…did I spell that right? Ah, well….) Seeing both sides of every position–and then being cheerful about it–can really piss some people off. 😀 (Of course, being cheerful about that ability is the course I take in public, because the alternative is to wallow in my complete inability to decide, omfg, and what-do-I-doooooo because no choice is the right choice, and everyone ends up hurt or screwed either way, and my Libra scales are wildly swaying, topsy-turvy, and I might lose my poise, wow, this-chick-is-crazy, soooooo…best to smile cheerfully and say, “Oh, yes, everyone’s wrong and everyone’s right, don’t you see? ‘Cause we’re fucked, and it’s the end of the world. The apocalypse, so to speak. Want some tea? This scone is delicious! As far as it goes, surely this apocalypse won’t be too bad a one. Unlikely to be cannibalistic zombies and such. I love your dress! Where did you get it?” Gotta keep those scales in balance!!!)

crazy-moon, haha! Thanks, I do my best to bring the soothing crazy-Libra vibe when I can. 😉

spidermoon, I did not realize until the above poster quoted Wilde that he was a Libra, but people often villainized him, too, for some of the same reasons that I get it. So, huh, I’m feeling awfully related to him at the moment. We even named our daughter after one of the characters in a play of his. Big Wilde fan here. 🙂

  10. Moved to tears for your quote rrkkgg “I think it is better to be a prisoner of hope than disciple of despair” I feel so identified,… Spidermon Quotes: a delight! Mainly >> “It is absurd to divide people into good and bad. People are either charming or tedious.” and this one “One should always play fairly when one has the winning cards.”

  11. Rkkggg and crazy-moon: glad you liked the quotes!
Wilde, man, talk about persecution for being who you are. anyway, his famous last words: “Either this [tacky] wallpaper goes, or I do” (bad paraphrase). He was a Libra to the end! 🙂

  12. “Intolerance is evidence of impotence” – and the infamous “Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law”… – Aleister Crowley (b.Oct 12th, 1875).

“I don’t get Robbie Williams. I think he seems rude and he’s always getting his knickers off.” (I personally think he’s hilarious, even if I wouldn’t touch him with a ten foot pole^^).
“Beauty, to me, is about being comfortable in your own skin. That, or a kick-ass red lipstick.” – Gwyneth Paltrow (b. Sept 27th, 1972)

  13. My soon to be ex (a double libra w/aqua moon) says to me as we watch police cars arrive next door for a domestic dispute: “I hope you don’t take this the wrong way, but I can’t imagine divorcing anyone but you.”

Hey, well, with Mars/Libra, I just roll that way.

  14. SaDiablo says:

Personally, I’m surrounded by Librans and find the ultimate Libra quote to be:

“I dunno, what do you want to do?”

everytime my friends ask me to decide on which restaurant to go, what food to eat etc

    ill cop out: “surprise me!”

  15. Wow, I sure was chatty last year on this topic. So, to be balanced, I think I’ll be less chatty this year on it. 🙂

Also, just read SanDiablo’s Libra quote: I dunno, what do *you* want to do?

    PERFECT!!!

  16. Do you really have to be the ice queen intellectual or the slut whore? Isn’t there some way to be both?”
    Susan Sarandon

    TOTTALLLLY!!! !!!

  17. Love those Libras. This Scorp Sun-Cappy Moon did good birthing a Libra Sun Son with a quirky Twin Moon.

I love the thread of libral literary on this thread. Funny stuff, makes me laugh and balances me out. How I miss that Sun Son over there on the islands.

Hugh Jackman … i love him.
Susan Sarandon … has she got it going or what!

Satori … thanks for that next line from Sting:)

Spidermoon … thanks for the Oscar Wilde quotes. I have loved his style all the while and must tuck those tidbits where I can see them more often … especially with Libra filling the house.

  18. Rkkggg: As a Libra Sun, Pluto (conjunct), Mars and if we count the asteroids Juno too I can completely relate to you. This is me, telling everybody how everything is going to be right. Even if I’m not believing in it myself (Capricorn Moon can be a bit moody).

I’m not a perfect person, but I have a multiple Libra grandmother sharing my birthday, who really is a kind of an embodyment of the greatest Libra qualities. She is fair, diplomatic, well spoken, gets along with just about everybody, has an innate sense of style. Not bad for a farmer’s daughter with four years of a formal schooling.

  19. Opal mentioned Pavarotti. He was a Libra all right, and excelled in in the works of his fellow “Emiliano”, the ultimate Libra composer, Giuseppe Verdi. Anything Verdi wrote had such a flair, but I especially enjoy his duets, trios and even quartets. He has such an understanding of the interaction of two or more voices.

  20. “sometimes considered people-pleasing courtesy their constant internal need to be ‘nice’.”

    That is so my mom.

    Sting’s quote was awesome. 🙂

  21. Groucho Marx –
Man does not control his own fate. The women in his life do that for him.

Today I shot an elephant in my pyjamas. How an elephant got into my pyjamas I’ll never know.

  22. Very ‘deep Libra’ Friedrich Nietzsche:
“What do you regard as most humane? To spare someone shame.”

Also with a sense of humour:
“In heaven, all the interesting people are missing.”
