Katharine Hepburn On The Making Of The African Queen

Katharine Hepburn is a double Taurus with a Scorpio rising. Chart ruler, Mars is exalted in Capricorn and conjunct Uranus.

She writes in her book, The Making of the African Queen,

“Well, if you don’t improve you slip inevitably backwards. Or you hammer – hammer – hammer on the same spot. And  you become the same old thing doing the same old thing…’

I thought this was interesting. First, I agree with her but I also note that many people try to thwart a person trying to grow. Like a musician who wants to experiment with their music for example.  Fans cry foul and the artist has to push that against that or they fall prey and become the same old thing doing the same old thing.

Are you improving or have you fallen prey?

  1. Kate Hepburn is my favorite actress of all time!! Not surprised she was Scorp rising…

The African Queen was one of her finest…

  2. I am improving – got the job I had been looking for for two years today. I like my current job, but there’s no room for growth or change. It’s the same thing, day in, day out, month in, month out. Not to mention the state wage freeze, which means that I wouldn’t be eligible for a raise until at least July 2011. If I want to grow or make any more money whatsoever in the meantime, I have to go somewhere else. I told our manager about this today when I gave notice. She is understanding and is frustrated that she is helpless to change things. Subsequently, our department is hemorrhaging good staff lately, and I don’t envy her responsibility to fill our shoes.

  3. Both.
With Venus on the descendant i might give off the impression of being forever pleasing the other person. But i’ve also got Mars-Pluto hidden away, so i will eventually be fighting back beneath the covers.

  4. Do believe most definitely improving – I am not one to fall to prey to others holding me back.

If I climb or fall backwards it is all my choice, no-one else’s.

  5. Capricorn, always climbing. It’s a long haul, and I can’t say I don’t ever slip back, but ultimately, I am improving.
