Juno And “The One”

“You intend no doubt to give me nothing, and are not aware the gift has already been received. Curse me then, and take away the spell. For I am rich, no cheap and ragged beggar but a queen, to rouse the king I need in you.”
                                                   –Alice Walker, The Gift

Juno, the asteroid, is associated with marriage and commitment. Juno the Roman goddess is daughter of Saturn, wife of Jupiter and mother of Mars (war) and Vulcan (fire). Does any of that sound touchy-feely? As the daughter of Saturn she embodies the feminine manifestation of commitment. Politically correct or not, that is most often associated with marriage.

As with anything that brings up gender, it’s best to look at it as an archetype. People ask, “Well, if it signifies the wife, what does it mean in a man’s/woman’s chart?” I like to look at it as significant in describing the nature of what the yin part of you looks for in a yang counterpart. Male and female are physical constructs; I’m talking archetypal energy patterns. I’m talking about recreating the myth with your own players picked from your own life.

Juno is the mythological archetype of the yin energy in the marriage, the attractor, the receptive. Her counterpart, Jupiter, is a god, powerful, bigger than life, immortal, but not infallible. Juno is not less than; she is a goddess. Being Saturn’s daughter control and commitment are issues. No one controls Jupiter. Juno finds in Jupiter a yang match for her yin power. When your Juno placement meets its Jupiter match, things will not be “swell”, but they will be balanced.

When Jupiter thwarted Juno’s committed nature (cheated) she was brutal to his conquests. It brought out the ugly. A Juno match is one where you see your ideal counterpart to balance your committed nature, but this can also bring out your seriously dysfunctional issues when thwarted in the relationship. If you can stand apart, you can see how this can be ultimately growth-producing. “The One” is also the one who brings out the worst in you. However, if you can tackle these issues and move through them, the growth is enormous. It is here you can see Saturn the father: Do the right thing and reap the benefits (or burn it all down and lose).

Juno in the natal chart, by sign, house and aspect, shows the nature of the “Jupiter” you seek. This is also reflected in what you seek to balance this nature in other ways, other areas of life. It’s not so much “You complete me” as it is “You bring out the issues in me that I must address in order to feel whole.”

Juno does not signify what you are “missing” or what they have to offer. Juno shows where the impetus lies to commit to a partner for the purpose of completing your growth.

So for example, I have Juno at zero degrees Leo in the 12th house. Do I want to marry a Leo? A Pisces? A drunken actor, imprisoned royalty? Well maybe, but I also see more complex patterns emerge. People with Leo and Neptune prominent in their charts raise issues that move me toward completion much more quickly than those who do not. People who have planets or angles that aspect my Juno do this as well. The Juno attraction, my Juno, brings me into contact with people who will challenge me in ways I need to be challenged. But the side effect of this that is so wonderful is the magical feeling of attraction itself. It’s like catnip! Or doughnuts. It’s the blissfully hypnotic lure. It gives us a reason to follow that call to grow. It is what gives you that feeling that they’re “The One.”

  1. Ideally you fit their Juno bill as well. if both parties do the work and grow, this can result in the Ideal Marriage, the archetype of the Marriage, god and goddess rule together in a complimentary fashion.

  2. Juno at 1st degree Leo in tenth house. Unaspected except for an out of sign conjunction with my 29 degree Mercury in Cancer.

  3. Juno in Leo in the 4th house – definitely got this in my husband. He is gregarious and cares a great deal about home and family.

His Juno is in Cancer in the 9th, conjunct my Sun. He got a world traveler who now likes to be home.

  4. What an AWESOME post!! Informative, well thought out, and well written… Love the way you think!

“Male and female are physical constructs; I’m talking archetypal energy patterns.”

Makes me go ::sigh::… *swoon* 😀 Thanks!

  5. It’s in Leo conjunct my Jupiter in the 11H.
Well, I’ve always liked Leos and Sadges (2 ex husbands) but I’ve gotten over them.
I like people who are well known in their fields or in social circles.
I do like marriage, that’s for sure. I’ve done it 3 times :p

  6. Upon further reflection, I would have done better marrying someone famous, with a great lifestyle.

I could really have been good at that. I just never thought about a “plan” for marriage.

  7. I love your asteroid posts, Satori.

I have Juno in Cancer conjunct my sun in the 11th. My husband has Juno conjunct his sun in Capricorn in the 4th. His sun/Juno conjoin my vertex.

  8. Juno in Libra in my 3rd house, conjunct my ic & pluto, square my sun, moon & jupiter and trining saturn. I’ll need to think on this a bit to see where/what all these aspects bring up,
    Angie

  9. I have Juno conjunct Lilith in Aquarius in 4th house. Give me a homely, detached, rebellious and trustworthy partner and I’ll be happy…

  10. Juno in Libra the 6th conjunct Uranus. I do want a real partner for daily life and work, and yes they are always unusual, but never dated a Libra. I like good looking men, however, and have dated artists many times.

  11. Whole sign 12th in Sadge square Venus in Virgo. I went to look at this and realized transit nn is on my juno right now and transit venus is opposite on the natal nn.

What I’ve learned so far from a venus/juno square is that sometimes committing is not a good idea 🙂

  12. In Virgo, 9th house. Conjunct Venus (which squares Jupiter of all things). Give me someone that makes up for my laziness and fear of commitment…

  13. Juno in Virgo conjunct (by 6 degrees) my Sun. I have sometimes attracted overly critical partners. Not this time. He’s a late Aries, and my Juno is at the end of my 1st house, so maybe that fits. His Juno and Jupiter are both conjunct my North Node in Libra.

  14. My Juno is conjunct his Moon; his Juno directly opposes my Chiron. The relationship is incredibly healing, for both of us.

  15. Mine: Juno in Virgo in the 9th
His: Juno in Leo in the 3rd

His Juno conjuncts my stellium in Leo.
My Juno conjuncts his chart ruler’s conjunction in Virgo. (6-7 degrees)

His Virgo-y nature has taught me a lot. I’m not sure what I’ve taught him however…

Jupiter-types have also taught me a lot. I eventually learned to harness my own Jupiter.

  16. I have Juno and Mars at 13 degrees Sagittarius in the 4th house. I feel like I’ve seen a lot when it comes to astrological makeup but even that scares the crap outta me.

  17. I have Juno in Libra in 10th house opp Saturn & married a good-looking Sun/Saturn/Neptune musician.

He has Juno in Leo (in the 10th too) widely conj Pluto (10 deg).

His Juno is on my 8th house Vertex / PF & quintiles my Moon & squares my Merc.

My Juno trines his moon and conjuncts his 12th house Venus/Asc and squares his Chiron.

  18. My Juno is in 29 degrees capricorn 5th house, no conjunctions, just opposing mars.
My guy right now firmly believes in “responsible hedonism”. No wonder he’s perfect for me.
He also has Juno in capricorn, 3rd house. I’m sort of thinking that doesn’t describe me at all.

  19. My Juno is in Gemini/6th house. It receive many aspects from my partner’s planetary placements:
    – Conjuncts his Venus (Gemini)
    – Trines his Pluto (Libra)
    – Sextiles is AS (Aries).
His Juno is in Sadge/5th house. It receives much fewer aspects from my chart, but maybe an important one:
    – his Juno is conjunct my AS (Sadge).

He is helping me grow in 6th house areas such as daily structure/organisation and greater clarity in my communications.

From his Juno placemetn I can understand in what ways I am a fit for him.

  20. My Juno is 5° Pisces in 11th house loosely conjunct my 7° Pisces Sun… and exactly conjunct my ex-husband’s 5° Pisces Sun. It is also trine both our Neptunes and his Jupiter (among other things). I guess I was married to The One afterall. Who knew? lol.

    1. We must have been born a day or two apart. My Juno is at 5° Pisces in the 7th house, my Sun is 8° Pisces and my Neptune is at 2° Scorpio. But I have never known true love or have been loved during this life.

  21. My Juno is at 8 Scorpio in 9th conjunct my Mercury and my husband’s Venus and Asc.

My husband’s is in Sag 1st house conjunct my MC/Neptune squaring my moon.

  22. I also love your asteroid posts, and your writing. You and Elsa both have “finger on the pulse” of what the collective needs to focus on for each day…or…you all are *inside my mind*…

I would tell you to get out, but that would be crazy talk. 😉

My Juno is in Scorpio. So is Lillith. Long-term relationship addict, never married. I have a tendency to be courted by men who fill the gaps that my boyfriend leaves, when he starts dropping the ball.

    Heh.Heh. Um…nothing!

My lesson is to not cheat, or trade in, for the better-looking option…I think. (curses my aqua moon)

  23. Oh, and my Juno is in the sixth.

The 7 year ex and I worked at the same company, twice. He got me in the first, I got him in the second. When I quit the first, he got fired. When I got fired from the second, they turned him against me (he was very valuable to them), and so I quit him. It was the last ton of straw on my camel back, and showed me why we were not yet married…among other things.

I just got paid for a gig I did with my current bf.

Lightbulb! I should be pimping these boys out for my riches! 😀

  24. Juno for me is in Taurus, 3rd house. I crave stability and tradition and was recently informed by someone in another forum that I need to “get over it and stability proves nothing”. Que sera sera I suppose. I will find a stable traditional fellow. They have to be out there!

  25. Hey PsychoScorpio me too, placement wise. Juno 12 deg Scorpio Seventh house. Juno conjunct Neptune means I can get lost in the other, merge and loss self. Juno square Mc and square Saturn: never been married at all. Yet some serial momogamy.

  26. Never thought about the connection between Juno and Jupiter, even though I know the mythology. Dang!

I have Juno in the 7th exactly opposing, within a minute, my Jupiter in the 1st. hee hee… 😀

  27. I have Juno tightly conjunct my ascendant (in scorpio). I am currently thoroughly besotted with someone whose venus conjunct my Juno and whose Mars is in my first house. I find scorpionic traits very attractive and compelling and I am drawn to “powerful” charismatic types.

  28. And…Thanks so much for this article Satori,it puts things in perspective. It also makes me wonder about my taurus descendent, and how it all ties in with my Sun also being in Taurus – my needs as opposed to wants as opposed to what would encourage me to grow/ evolve ? Hmm much to ponder !

  29. My Juno is in Scorpio, 12th. Square Saturn.
I’m engaged to a quadriplegic with Saturn in the 6th. My Juno hits his MC, trines his Mars and the asteroids, and opposes his Sun. As for his Juno, it trines my Sun and Vesta in the 10th. He can be both infuriating and uplifting.

  30. Avatar
    curious wanderer

I never really took notice of this before. My Juno is one degree off my Dsc (on the 7H side). No other major aspects (unless you count the square to the IC/MC axis and the opposition to the Asc.).
Like everything else having to do with relationships, I have no clue what this means. 😉

  31. I recently got into a new relationship. My Juno is conjunct his Jupiter, and his Juno is conjunct my Sadge moon. Pretty cool 🙂 Not to mention his Sun, Mercury, and Venus falling in my 7th house. Swoon!

  32. I was all hung up on how I thought my Venus and Mars are boring but reading about Juno is cool and makes a lot of sense to me!

Juno at 29 degrees Scorpio in the 9th House.

I always find the stories of Jupiter infuriating, and I never understood why it seemed Juno got mad at the women maybe because she was better able to exact revenge???

  33. I have Juno in Cancer in the 3rd opposite my Moon (and Jupiter in Cancer in the 4th). Couple that with Scorpio occupying almost all of my 7th (and Neptune there) and yes, there’s definitely a pull towards water sign men.

I was partnered with a man who I had so-so synastry with, but my Juno was conjunct his Sun and his Juno was conjunct my SN. I think that held us together those 4 years more than anything else in the chart.

  34. My Juno is at 16 Leo in my 8th house. My 8th house is the most active house with three planets (Mars, Saturn, and Jupiter each in the sign of Virgo). If I understand it correctly it may correlate to attracting a mate who can offer a spiritual or even a transformationial experience, some say a partner who is a “sex machine”, which may even correlate to a Scorpio sense it’s the natural house of Scorpio. Am I correct in this assertion.

  35. so if I feel suspicious of capricorns, and my Juno is cap.12° in 3rd, it could be a matter of projection??my chart lacks earth completely but saturn is heavy:in aries, conj venus, sq moon, opp asc
all my path is about grounding and learning to communicate

    1. growth can be very uncomfortable. and it doesn’t mean the people who cause growth are positive influences! it’s morally neutral.

  36. I’m new to Juno, so this has been fascinating to me, too. Thank you for this post! I’m wondering, there are two guys I’ve been interested in (not that I’m dating). One has his Juno conjunct mine in Capricorn (my 10th house) and the other has his Jupiter conjunct mine. Is there a ‘better’ scenario? I’ve read Juno conjunctions show up often in marriages. I’m wonder about the myth, though. Is Jupiter conjunct Juno a sign of potential unfaithfulness then, or a benefit? I haven’t been able to tell through my research.
