Absolute
noun
1.
PHILOSOPHY
a value or principle that is regarded as universally valid or that may be viewed without relation to other things.
I came across something recently, that made realize how resistant people are the anything that is stated as an absolute. They want wiggle room. They want options. They want their circumstances to set them apart, so a rule won’t apply in their case.
It’s easy to understand that people don’t want to be bound. But if you think about it, a person can derive a lot of comfort by embracing an absolute.
I am not talking about “never say never”. I am talking about natural law. You drop a penny, it hits the ground. Or how about the idea that when God opens a door, no one can shut it..and when God shuts a door, no one can open it?
These things are absolutes. And if you can understand this and accept it, it makes it a lot easier to live, happily.
This is Saturn in Sagittarius stuff, by the way.
What do you think?
with AC in Sagittarius, I always like to keep my options open and I see now, that I’ll have to change that when Sat reaches Sagittarius
I do agree that there is comfort in knowing the absolute. I believe that most people in our western culture think that they can circumvent the absolutes that exist here on this earthly plane. They think they have power and control over things that they do not. They fear the absolute becausethey desire to influence everything including the law of nature. I guess the best examples of this would be where nearly everone in society can not accept that they are in a physical state of deterioratio and that they are going to die. They fight tooth and nail all the way with plastic surgery, botox, medical procedures that ensure a more rapid demise such as radiation and chemotheraphy that at a certain point do more harm than good. I am not passing judgement on anyone trying to stop the inevitable but most definately ageing and dying are absolute and we all need to find the grace to embrace in some way as a society. Here is where we could learn a great deal from eastern thought.
I have a Mercury that says the impossible is possible and miracles happen all the time. But it’s also in the 12th and inconjunct Neptune so I’m a wee bit prone to self-deception. ?
