Henry In His Own Words: Double Capricorn, Desert Philosopher and Authentically Interesting Person – Part 3

With all those planets in Sagittarius, Henry got around…

Letter to my mother Oct.19 1955

“…I am still here in Mazatlan swimming and resting. Now I can walk 30 or 35 feet on my hands. I do this on the beach, just before I swim…”

Letter to Lowther June 7th 1959

“In July I plan to go back to Los Angeles to attend the annual convention of the Vegetarian Society and also another big flying saucer convention. But I am not sure about the race up Pikes Peak yet. It depends on how the pain in my chest develops after I try another climb or two. If it has anything to do with my heart, I may have to stop running up mountains.

Letter to Phyllis Sept. 7 1955

“…Get your courage up for I am coming over to take you to a seance…”

Letter to Weir June 23 1958

“… Basically I will always be a student, hunting for the most significant facts of our existence…”

Letter to Lowther June 7 1959

“… I went to a big flying saucer convention on the way over and brought back a lot of things from Los Angeles. Over there I got a sticker for the windshield. It says “BE NICE I AM A RICH TOURIST!” It is some joke on that old truck painted light blue with orange on the front grill…”

  1. “… Basically I will always be a student, hunting for the most significant facts of our existence…”

i can *SO* relate to that one…

  2. He sounded like like a wonderfully fantastic human being! Interested in everything AND interesting! I love his insights, his curiosity into the unknown (UFO’s, Seances, travel) and the known things like how it is to live healthy and not be greedy. I always thought Capricorn was equated with money, high financial dealings, politics and seeking to be the best (this is just a stereo type but for comparison) and I guess with all the Sag energy he was a freedom lover, seeker of philosophical ways of looking at life and using his resources to become a stellar human being and single father.

And that truck sticker cracks me up considering the truck it was on : ). What a wonderful grandfather! So what was it like actually spending time with him Elsa? And why did it used to make you mad when people said you were like him?

    1. You know what’s lost about Capricorn. Capricorn is CLASSY… even in poverty.

As for not wanting to be like him – I have Mars in Libra. He was always trying to find a woman and never could. So he wound up in the desert, alone. I did not want this for myself…

But I am now back in the country for the FOURTH time. Chances are, I outlive my husband and that’s it. There I’ll be.

Also, my neighbor that just died… he was another, Henry figure. Just an exemplary human being… so with these people gone, I do need to step up and fill the void because I do understand this way of living. And it comes more natural than anything else, truth be told.

I am just not good at being disingenuous, and I’m certainly not happy living like that.

      1. Right Elsa! I forgot CLASSY! And Henry certainly was that!
I am sorry he wanted a wife and could never find one. He sounds as if he had a heart of gold.
