How Astrology Helps in Uncertain Times

Here’s your answer

The world feels like it is in shambles. We are dealing with so many big, structural issues involving huge swathes of society, and it is simply exhausting. This is Capricorn and Aquarius energy run amok. So many of us feel the problems are too big for us to address and we simply want life to feel manageable again. Luckily, astrology has the answer.

Whenever there is an excess of one sign’s energy, the best way to temper it is to work with the energy of the opposite sign. In this case, that would be Cancer and Leo.

·        Take a Breather. Cancer is an intensely personal sign that rules over home and hearth. When the world outside gets too overwhelming, Cancer knows there’s nothing wrong with withdrawing into your shell for a little while. Retreat to your safe space and tend to your family and your home. Beautify your space or take a good long nap. Turn off social media for a while. Strengthen your family relationships even if they are strained by political tension. Find common ground. For example, I disagree with my father about nearly everything, but I know we both love history. So when we are together, we spend time poring over books, going to museums, and pulling up old photos. We may have disagreements, but the world doesn’t have to divide us.

·        Have a Heart. Leo rules the heartspace, and that is exactly what is lacking right now. All of us are so tuned into our personal echo chambers and outrage machines that we have blocked off our ability to feel real empathy and kinship with those on the other side of an issue. While I don’t mean to diminish the feelings of outrage and fear so many are feeling, we have to remember that we are dealing with human beings. And in my years of working with people, I have learned that most of us want the same thing. We want to be safe and to operate in our environment without fear. We want to love and be loved. We want peace and security. And if we can remember that every person we meet is coming from the exact same place we are, it can go a long way toward bridging the divide.

Wherever you stand, whoever you are, we are all human. We all have the same basic needs and desires. When we’re overwhelmed by the enormity of our problems, it’s okay to step back. Sometimes a little comfort and a lot of heart really are the best medicine.

  1. Beautiful post, Midara – I loved reading it 🙂

This month I learned from John Gottman that most conflicts stem from our dreams, hopes and wishes. As BF and I have been going through a pretty tough patch during May and June, the stumbling upon this simple yet efficient way to view the source of our conflicts turned out relationship around and finally taught us how to ACTUALLY communicate! More so than ever these times, we need “feeling communication”, and being able to reach into another human being by showing empathy. With Mercury going Rx, we must reflect on how to being open and vulnerable I guess.

Leo is also the heart of children and creativity. During this crisis I have tuned into my inner child, and nourished it by creating stuff – colorful stuff, knitting, coloring books – everything where I could use a lot of beautiful colors. Colors makes me happy. Go figure 😉

In all things I do, I try to remember to choose things that make me feel joy. It’s sometimes hard, but it’s probably the only way to get through these hard times during COVID, racial upheaval and God knows what else the Universe will throw in our heads!

    XOXO

  2. Yes, Midara (and Anette)! Great post again. Creativity and family are what brings me joy and sanity now. Since I can’t visit my young nieces who live a 4-hour flight away, I bought them a new sewing machine and sent them a box of colorful scrap fabric, ribbons, glass paints and other arts and crafts. They were ecstatic to receive the gifts which will keep them happy and busy creating at home this summer and for years to come.

  3. What you have advised is spot on. Funnily enough I have been investing more fun time with my pets. I also have been enjoying the company of my nieces and nephews. Animal’s and children are pure joy givers. Listening to plenty of music and watching the odd comedy helps too.

  4. Midara, what do you think of restorative justice? I have to stop believing it won’t work. Reading about it took the wind out of my sails a little bit. It could be because of my Mars in Capricorn closet conservatism about some stuff. It took the wind out of my sails.
